The monotone lesson was a real eye-opener. I have serious monotone problems, and didn't realize how much it was affecting my recitation. Thanks brother for the help!
Assalamualaikum So you know to those that don’t wanna start at the basics like qaida. All I’m saying is that your jumping a huge step in Quran recitation. Don’t be embarrassed even if your in your 20s you can begin. Something similar happened to me I used to go to one mosque and to another we never settled down in one mosque and they all would make us read big surahs or memorise or just read anything. They wouldn’t care and because if that I never got to finish the Quran I never had good tajweed. So one day we moved to another mosque and they didn’t want us since we didn’t read up to their standard. Later on we found one more mosque and started there. The guy listened to us and even tho I was 16 I believe and my older brother was 17 he still put all in qaida and I was low-key pissed since I was the oldest in my class and I was in qaida I tried hard to finish it quick and get over and done with so I can go to Quran. So he listens to me as a final exam to see if I am ready and then he… fails me and puts me into complete qaida which is an even bigger book then the abridged qaida I had. Fam you don’t know how much I cried when I got home I was angry. But then I told my myself that Allah put me on this for a reason he wants me to read well let me actually try and do it properly. So I actually put my effort in understood it properly listened to a sheikh on how to say it then the day came for round 2 and …. I PASSED so I was finally going to Quran. So I read juz amma by listening to a sheikh and tried to make my voice sound like his and it worked you know except for the times he would do like a long mad Allahuma barik he had strong lungs but I every day I would try to do it and it actually made it easier to make it abit long like his. Anyways the moral of the story is no matter your age go for it and start cuz wallahi it’ll make a huge difference in your reading. Oh yeah the head teacher actually taught me and some other girls tajweed and I actually applied what he said and my recitation even amazed me I was happy I was soo grateful for the headteacher for putting me on qaida regardless of my age. Now I’m 18 and I’m in surah Nahl near to surah Isra But yeah the teachers can even see when you improve. One advice from me is to read Quran daily even a shot bit just read and put effort in and learn the different tajweed, and get a colour coded Quran to help you. Whoever read to the end jazakAllahu khayr and I hope my story will be of Benefit to you Assalamualaikum 🌹
