I've been saying that RCA is treating her the same way they did Tinashe, Motivation was a lead single for an EP that was cancelled, the album was supposed to drop in 2021 with Wild Side as the lead but we got it now... It's weird, they're sabotaging her so hard and it's really sad.

Rca has always done this to all of their artists, but especially to the dark skin black women. It took SZA a while to release her album and they gave little promotion even though it was a phenomenal album I feel like RCA is a catch and label where they sign artist to shelve them from them being competition For others, the exception is Doja Cat. If you look at the roster, all of their people who have released are going to release albums, or on hold, but they really do this with the dark skinned black artist.

Facts. It's a solid neo R n B album with some really good tracks. I agree the roll out was weak. I found out the album dropped by accident. The hype did go down. This album should have dropped 3-4 years ago. Also, Normani does not interact with the fans, which is crucial to her career.

Yes this album was so good I can’t stop playing it. Technically I think it’s my favorite one so far this year. Her and Tyla and Ari are my top 3 albums this year! lol I think Normani has a cohesive album and definitely was worth the wait! I loooooove “Insomnia” as my fav track. Then I’ll round out my top 5 with “All Yours”, “Big Boy”, “Lights On”, and “Little Secrets”. “Grip” and “Still” have me too lol RCA is trash though I hope no one else ever signs with them again. They definitely left her hanging to where the album didn’t have a chance to succeed. But she can tour it and drop the visuals and I think it’ll help lol

Great video and many people don't understand her story. We get bits and pieces but her life is a story of resilience and she has a regal essence! Despite the wait, she has sold millions of singles in the past few years. Motivation had over 10M sales in Brazil alone. Wildside is multiplatinum. More respect needs to he put on her name. I actually think doing a club tour (maybe a few shows and then doing a real tour at bigger venues) would be a cool idea and actually fits the vibe of the album.
It didn’t really stick with me TOO much at first, it was still an enjoyable listen. However, I noticed that it definitely grew on me. I also agree with your points about RCA: THEY ARE MESSING WITH HER. I truly want Normani to win, I definitely do. But nonetheless I’m happy she’s released her debut… curious to see where she is headed next 🤔

Indeed. Normani deserves to win. However winning doesn't necessarily mean debuting a song in the Top 20 of the charts with Payola and then falling off from public memory one week later. R&B music is marketed and consumed very differently from Pop or mainstream music. Many great R&B albums and songs eg from SZA, Miguel, TLC, Khaleed were all sleeper hits and never hit #1 however are Triple Platinum and even Diamond records. I would rather Normani never hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 or 200 yet still have a successful Platinum selling album. What she has put out is a timeless quality R&B record that will stand the test of time. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as she will now be eligible for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Also, with this album she can win Album of Year, Best R&B Album of the year and many other categories that aren't oversaturated. This is her year for real yo ~* !!
Oh, you are absolutely right and I love all of those artists that you just mentioned! I honestly feel like R&B is so complex with different types of sub genres within it. For example, how you mentioned SZA she is the queen right now of alternative R&B in my opinion. Normani sound is very different even though it’s R&B if that makes sense? Normani will get the Kelly Rowland treatment: outdated music, limited label resources, and lack of promotion. That’s not a knock on Normani, but we waited five years for a “mid” album. How was her album highly anticipated when I had no idea about?
Exactly my point. You probably didn’t know about it because her record label didn’t promote it right which is exactly why I’m making this video. I don’t want her to have that Kelly Rowland treatment because her record label should be the one that promotes it better. Normani is a *FORMER* Pop *GROUP* member. However, she *ISN'T* Pop herself. RCA knows *EXACTLY* what their doing. Normani *ISN'T* too different from the *CURRENT* girls out there doing R&B right now. To top it off she's -black- . Also, she *ISN'T* a -STRONG- enough singer to top it off. *NO SHADE* but Normai isn't competition like that. Maybe dancing but *NOT* singing.

That’s why I think it’s important to make this video so they can potentially be called out and just release her like they did to Tinashe. To play devils advocate, if you put your label hat on, why would RCA give Normani a blank check to market her album when the lack of anticipation, lack of streams and inability to chart a single in 3 years, does not justify the expense…? They’re running a business. Normani’s album is not ‘highly anticipated’ by the market. Billie Eillish dropped her album with bare bones promotion and it debuted with 300K, SZA took a 7 year hiatus and debuted with 318k, thats what highly anticipated *actually* looks like in 2024. We need to stop throwing around words like “highly anticipated” when it’s not the case. Tyla’s debut arrived with 24K (and that was with “Water” on the album) so I’m hoping Normani can debut with 15-20K and start performing these songs anywhere she can to get some of her momentum back. That’s the realistic grown-up conversation that fans don’t want to have.
I understand your narrative , but no Normani still deserves at least an increase in her budget after the release of this album. If RCA increased Latto’s budget after big energy, there’s no excuse cause she is in the RED with RCA too.. The feedback of Dopamine from the majority of listeners was very positive so RCA should take notes and not make the same mistakes with Normani’s career like they did when she released Motivation and Waves through 2018-2020. What was RCA’s excuse back then when she had momentum? And what’s the point of having a label if they won’t take a risk on an artist that they had faith in from the beginning? Latto got buzz on big energy a few years ago, RCA immediately increased her budget and literally gave her a huge increase after it gained traction on the billboard, but again just one song and now are in the RED for songs like Lottery, Sunday Service, etc. very similar to Normani’s situation back in 2018. Except the differences RCA left Normani‘s budget the same which Normani was proving to build up her momentum. It’s up to them to help her around this time they dropped the ball many times with Normani. My opinion and thanks for watching ✨😊
What’s the point of letting an artist drop an album with basically 0 promotion? How do they expect to turn a profit by not investing in artists THEY signed. It’s a part of their job to get people listening to Normani as well. She delivered the music. They need to deliver the PROMOTION.

The label got her high profile collaborations with Sam Smith, Khalid, Calvin Harris, they put her on the birds of prey movie soundtrack. She was performing at awards shows, the media was abuzz. We can’t say they didn’t lift a finger. RCA pushed the button on Normani in 2018/2019 but all that hard work was and momentum was squandered when no project was released, and according to Normani, it’s *herself* who said *she* wasn’t ready to put out an album. It was also Normani who felt forced to put out her biggest solo hit ‘motivation’. The elephant in the room is that the biggest saboteur of Normani all along has been herself. 🤷🏾♂️ if I was the label and we built all that momentum for you to say you’re not ready to drop music, yeah, maybe I am gonna deprioritise you and put resources elsewhere on the roster. 🤷🏾♂️ why have sympathy for her struggles but the world doesn’t stop turning. You do realize that the reason her songs haven’t charted in 3 years is BECAUSE of her label not promoting her music properly. Fair did NOT get a MV. It was filmed and RCA scrapped it, it did NOT get radio either. These are not normanis fault. And the 2 singles leading up to this album aren’t even “singles” when you think about it. They were not promoted what so ever with Candy Paint not even getting an announcement!!!! We only found out it was dropping because New Zealand got it first. So to say why give her a blank check because of XY and Z reasons is misguided because the reason why she is not performing at a higher level is BECAUSE of her labels lack of promo. There has been ZERO Music Videos, ZERO single cover arts, ZERO late night talk show appearances, NO radio, NO physical copies of the album, only ONE version of the album. So yes all of those factors considered she’s doing well. She was doing well on Apple Music and iTunes. But some of y’all want to get caught up in Spotify first day streams and then write her off as a “flop” when she’s not

Im a big fan of R&B music..but this album was underwhelming🤷🏻♀️..the highlight for me was her Insomnia song..i feel we need more visuals to go wit her album release
Totally understandable! R&B is great because there’s so many different types and I can totally understand not everyone liking this type of R&B. I just think overall as strong gave you for her after waiting for so long. 🖤✨🚀

Indeed. Normani deserves to win. However winning doesn't necessarily mean debuting a song in the Top 20 of the charts with Payola and then falling off from public memory one week later. R&B music is marketed and consumed very differently from Pop or mainstream music.
Many great R&B albums and songs eg from SZA, Miguel, TLC, Khaleed were all sleeper hits and never hit #1 however are Triple Platinum and even Diamond records.
I would rather Normani never hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 or 200 yet still have a successful Platinum selling album. What she has put out is a timeless quality R&B record that will stand the test of time. The timing couldn't be more perfect, as she will now be eligible for Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Also, with this album she can win Album of Year, Best R&B Album of the year and many other categories that aren't oversaturated. This is her year for real yo ~* !!
How is there a *gap* in R&B and you have SZA, Summer, Sabrina Claudio, CoCO Jones, Victoria Monote, Ari Lennox and list probably goes on
Oh, you are absolutely right and I love all of those artists that you just mentioned! I honestly feel like R&B is so complex with different types of sub genres within it. For example, how you mentioned SZA she is the queen right now of alternative R&B in my opinion. Normani sound is very different even though it’s R&B if that makes sense?
It’s more of a neo/Janet Jackson type of sound and I’m a huge fan of that type of R&B so I think that’s why it’s resonating more with me but I understand if you don’t like it as much as I do.🖤🚀✨

Normani will get the Kelly Rowland treatment: outdated music, limited label resources, and lack of promotion. That’s not a knock on Normani, but we waited five years for a “mid” album. How was her album highly anticipated when I had no idea about?

Normani is a *FORMER* Pop *GROUP* member. However, she *ISN'T* Pop herself. RCA knows *EXACTLY* what their doing. Normani *ISN'T* too different from the *CURRENT* girls out there doing R&B right now. To top it off she's -black- . Also, she *ISN'T* a -STRONG- enough singer to top it off. *NO SHADE* but Normai isn't competition like that. Maybe dancing but *NOT* singing.
You make great points on what RCA knows and how they are playing the game. That’s why I think it’s important to make this video so they can potentially be called out and just release her like they did to Tinashe. It worked out better for her as well independently releasing Nasty. ✨🚀

To play devils advocate, if you put your label hat on, why would RCA give Normani a blank check to market her album when the lack of anticipation, lack of streams and inability to chart a single in 3 years, does not justify the expense…? They’re running a business. Normani’s album is not ‘highly anticipated’ by the market. Billie Eillish dropped her album with bare bones promotion and it debuted with 300K, SZA took a 7 year hiatus and debuted with 318k, thats what highly anticipated *actually* looks like in 2024. We need to stop throwing around words like “highly anticipated” when it’s not the case. Tyla’s debut arrived with 24K (and that was with “Water” on the album) so I’m hoping Normani can debut with 15-20K and start performing these songs anywhere she can to get some of her momentum back. That’s the realistic grown-up conversation that fans don’t want to have.
I understand your narrative , but no Normani still deserves at least an increase in her budget after the release of this album. If RCA increased Latto’s budget after big energy, there’s no excuse cause she is in the RED with RCA too..
The feedback of Dopamine from the majority of listeners was very positive so RCA should take notes and not make the same mistakes with Normani’s career like they did when she released Motivation and Waves through 2018-2020. What was RCA’s excuse back then when she had momentum? And what’s the point of having a label if they won’t take a risk on an artist that they had faith in from the beginning?
Latto got buzz on big energy a few years ago, RCA immediately increased her budget and literally gave her a huge increase after it gained traction on the billboard, but again just one song and now are in the RED for songs like Lottery, Sunday Service, etc. very similar to Normani’s situation back in 2018. Except the differences RCA left Normani‘s budget the same which Normani was proving to build up her momentum. It’s up to them to help her around this time

What’s the point of letting an artist drop an album with basically 0 promotion? How do they expect to turn a profit by not investing in artists THEY signed. It’s a part of their job to get people listening to Normani as well. She delivered the music. They need to deliver the PROMOTION.

The label got her high profile collaborations with Sam Smith, Khalid, Calvin Harris, they put her on the birds of prey movie soundtrack. She was performing at awards shows, the media was abuzz. We can’t say they didn’t lift a finger. RCA pushed the button on Normani in 2018/2019 but all that hard work was and momentum was squandered when no project was released, and according to Normani, it’s *herself* who said *she* wasn’t ready to put out an album. It was also Normani who felt forced to put out her biggest solo hit ‘motivation’. The elephant in the room is that the biggest saboteur of Normani all along has been herself. 🤷🏾♂️ if I was the label and we built all that momentum for you to say you’re not ready to drop music, yeah, maybe I am gonna deprioritise you and put resources elsewhere on the roster. 🤷🏾♂️ why have sympathy for her struggles but the world doesn’t stop turning. You do realize that the reason her songs haven’t charted in 3 years is BECAUSE of her label not promoting her music properly. Fair did NOT get a MV. It was filmed and RCA scrapped it, it did NOT get radio either. These are not normanis fault. And the 2 singles leading up to this album aren’t even “singles” when you think about it. They were not promoted what so ever with Candy Paint not even getting an announcement!!!! We only found out it was dropping because New Zealand got it first. So to say why give her a blank check because of XY and Z reasons is misguided because the reason why she is not performing at a higher level is BECAUSE of her labels lack of promo. There has been ZERO Music Videos, ZERO single cover arts, ZERO late night talk show appearances, NO radio, NO physical copies of the album, only ONE version of the album. So yes all of those factors considered she’s doing well. She was doing well on Apple Music and iTunes. But some of y’all want to get caught up in Spotify first day streams and then write her off as a “flop” when she’s not
