It was only the Israelite men that got to go free once their debt was paid or they were freed in the Jubilee - unless he married a slave woman and had a kid with her, cuz then in order to keep his wife and child, he had to become a permanent slave.

Imagine going to heaven and being surrounded by people like this. I might be alone in this, but I interpret this terrible thought as evidence that the Christian god does not exist 😂
Well, the fact that today's brilliant guest needs slavery defined for him does not bode well for how substantive the rest of his arguments will be. "You mean, like slavery before the civil war?" Does he think that the bible was written post American civil war? I'm hoping not, and that gem of a whoopsie was just his mouth bypassing his brain, per usual. Also, the fact that he just says "civil war" as opposed to "the American civil war" also lets us know the scope of his worldview. I'm going to hazard a guess that he has more of a townview than a worldview. As in, the hometown that he has never been outside of a day in his life.
Yup. And like the bible, they also had laws legalising brutal chattel slavery. And those laws don't contradict each other in either the bible or antebellum south.
@@jaclo3112that’s the point he’s making. That laws against kidnapping didn’t stop slavery from happening, so using “you couldn’t kidnap people and make them slaves” isn’t an argument.
Lol, listening to him flail about with what is essentially an "I know you are but what am I?" level of childish insistence on his willful ignorance is glorious!
My goodness. I saw you demolish this pathetic guy on the line a few weeks ago. I've been hooked on your content ever since. I can't believe I've never heard of you before. This is incredible content Justin. The arrogance with which these people approach these calls is unbelievable. They KNOW they are right. Facts and evidence be damned. They know they've heard some apologist somewhere put a spin on it that sounded just good enough then they turned their computer off real quick and put their fingers in their ears. That's the problem. They aren't looking for the facts. They are looking for someone that will make them feel better about the facts. But when face to face with someone such as yourself who IS looking for the truth, it's wholly incompatible and they simply write it off and deny reality. "If I can't figure it out right now, I just need to do research because one way or another I'm right". They can't even consider what they do is heinous because of the weight of it. The "stakes" they are told are in the line. I think Christianity is one of the worst things that has ever happened to humanity.
The sad thing is he probably won't call back... Instead he's gonna exercise some more "post hoc Rationals" that make him feel good and tells himself that you will know how right he is once you stand before God... That damage can only be done by Religion
We didn't abolish slavery. The thirteenth amendment: Section 1 Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, *except as a punishment for crime* whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. All the thirteenth amendment says is that the state is the only entity that can own human beings, specifically criminals, as property. We still have slavery.
The poor caller hasn't a clue what his holy book endorses and got smacked senseless. The context of my comment obviously means I'm getting eggs from the store today.
This was so sad. That guy was flailing the whole time. He was justifying slavery if they weren’t Jewish or Christian . Context. He was desperate for context.
In the original, true, unedited version of the bible after the parts where god says it's ok to own slaves, it actually said "naw, I'm just kidding, owning people is a big no-no, don't be dicks!" 😂😂😂
If this guy has a daughter and she was taken as a slave, he would very quickly figure out how he really feels about his god's morality. If he has the courage of his convictions, he SHOULD be fine with it, but my guess is that he won't like it one little bit and will FIGHT to the end of his days to free her, in direct contravention of his god's laws. Underneath his corrupted, lying bullshit, he knows right from wrong but he just can't let go of "his precious". Or he's a psychopath and needs locking up.
Why would G-d let his word or divinely inspired words be taken out of context so much if knowing him is so important? G-d's not very good at communication... and money.
On one hand radical christians say, the bible is said to be the word of god and to be taken literally and then when their arguments fail they say you have to take everything in context. This one did it quick.
Does he condone it? No. Does he use it toward his purpose? Yes. Look at where we are now and where things were. What happened to make americans abolish slavery and how and what little details made it possible as much as the big ones.
@thedeebo410 no condoning is saying it's good, I've never read that God or Jesus say he saw and/or made slavery and said, "This is good" or "I accept this"
Didn't YHWH expect grown men to perform self-circumcisions? Yet even suggesting to those same men *NOT OWN OTHER PEOPLE* was just a step too far for the moral arbiter of the world. The same god that had a devout follower sacrifice his daughter as part of some misguided victory-pact just couldn't expect his chosen to not capture & subjugate other tribes. Any deity with absolute morals would have *_explicitly and emphatically_* prohibited slavery in all forms, but YHWH doesn't even suggest that slavery is a misguided institution. A better explanation is that YHWH isn't the source of absolute morality, but rather he was a creation of ancient Israelites as a contemporaneous representation of their moral philosophy.
@msskaggs3911 suggesting in what way or form? Where is that found at if I may ask? Also, yeah, he might have told his own people (jews)and correct me if I am wrong, but I don't know if in the time of Jesus that any jew had slaves, I'm pretty sure they themselves were slaves once (jews) in the time of Moses but in the time of Jesus which they knew themselves what it meant to be a slave in harshness of Pharoah, but even so, slaves that worshipped God gave their morales to the children of their masters household and therfore gave a new heart in sorts to the next generation of slaveowners, making them see the errors in their ways
Before the Civil War when slavery was legal, that was exactly the context, right? Humanity has evolved since then. We the people made the bible out of context.
I learn more about Christianity listening to these debates than I did in church. 😂

Could it be that this guy has never watched anything outside his comfort-zone perhaps?
none of them read their book, and claim to know the truth
"...reason does not work automatically."
-Ayn Rand-
All these people can do is gaslight gaslight gaslight.
Don't use that term incorrectly
Kidnapping is not slavery. I hate when these weirdos try to justify it this way.
"It doesnt say you can have slaves. It says treat your slaves good."
🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
7:45 The Phoenicians did apparently carry out human sacrifice. But then again, so did the Israelites.
Biblical Logic: _"You can't sacrifice children, if we 'take-out' you AND the children!"_ Followed immediately by: _"Our God led us to victory because he is moral & righteous"_
Oh and King Mesha of Moab sacrificed his son to Chemosh to defeat Yahweh and drive off the Israelites in 2 Kings 3
I just discovered DZ a few days ago and I’m so lit up and impressed by Justin’s scholarship, intelligence, and patience, But sometimes I think the callers are plants because No one could be as stoopid and trapped in their own ignorance as these people…
But he wouldn’t play, so omg, are these truly my fellow human beings…?!
I’m floored. Thanks to the DZ for doing such important work in a world desperately in need of it. 🤩✌️💜
I too am truly shocked at how dumb some of these people are 😭
And I’m Amazed at your patience! You are uniquely qualified and gifted to do this work 🙏😍
(Thrilled you responded to my comment 😌).
No one ever lost money betting on the stupidity of the general public.
Caller says "I've got something in my notes that goes against this (slavery).". Yeah, the notes that state "If lying through your teeth doesn't work then deny, divert, and distort". Then closes with "I'm not set up like you are.". I agree if he by 'not set up' he means did not read the bible.
Cooked! Never read their precious book. If they do, they don't seem to understand it.
Just because God condones something does Not mean God condones that thing she condoned
Words mean what they mean and also the opposite of what they mean
😂
This is my new favorite channel on youtube
The ignorance is staggering. He’s paid so little attention that he can’t defend his “faith” even for a second! This guy…was not a smart man. That’s the kindest thing I can say.
Sadly, he’ll just chuckle and shrug it off. Anyone with a trace of self awareness would have been utterly EMBARRASSED by his humiliating and laughably stupid performance. I’d say maybe he was drunk-BUT HE WASN’T!!😂😂
Roasted.
Now I need him to call back and offer his arguments.
The fact he even said slavery could be justified means he lost part of his human decency to his gawd.
You know it still amazes me (though I`ve seen it before) how you can read the plain words on a page to a Christian over and over and they still don`t get it. Love the crickets at the end! lol.
They get it..... They just can't be honest with it. Without lies Christianity dies!
@@Deconstruction_Zone Lol yeah I think you're right I`m really loving your channel by the way.
It’s absurd how adults with supposed functional frontal lobes believe ts😭
I never get tired of listening to these people try to defend slavery in their favourite book 😂
Damn this dude is great at destroying theist!
Imagine going to heaven and being surrounded by people like this. I might be alone in this, but I interpret this terrible thought as evidence that the Christian god does not exist 😂
This guy brought a pointy stick to a gun fight.
The antebellum south had laws against kidnapping
Yup. And like the bible, they also had laws legalising brutal chattel slavery. And those laws don't contradict each other in either the bible or antebellum south.
@jaclo3112 exactly the point
Yep it was punishable by _"death without clergy"_
@@jaclo3112that’s the point he’s making. That laws against kidnapping didn’t stop slavery from happening, so using “you couldn’t kidnap people and make them slaves” isn’t an argument.
@@joemiller7082 I know. Hence I am agreeing with him.
That was nice of you to take that dog for a walk
Condone and condemn are two diffrent things.
Lol, listening to him flail about with what is essentially an "I know you are but what am I?" level of childish insistence on his willful ignorance is glorious!
Ooh, the crickets soundtrack was entirely justified there
😂
How do these people especially blacks support this evil book and defend slavery for that matter!!!!
Did you just say blacks??
"It just has to be the word of God cause that's what I was taught!"
Every time 😂
He twisted himself into a pretzel fir his belief when the easiest things is SLAVERY IS WRONG! 🤦🏾♂️
Oh boy….this guy sounds like a winner right from the start lol
Did he ever call back??
My guess is HELL TO THE NO🤣🤣🤣🤣
The sad thing is he probably won't call back... Instead he's gonna exercise some more "post hoc Rationals" that make him feel good and tells himself that you will know how right he is once you stand before God...
That damage can only be done by Religion
Cooked from jump.
Unbelievable lack of biblical knowledge,
Honestly, in an ideal world everyone would lack biblical knowledge because that book is utterly useless.
We didn't abolish slavery.
The thirteenth amendment:
Section 1
Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, *except as a punishment for crime* whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
All the thirteenth amendment says is that the state is the only entity that can own human beings, specifically criminals, as property.
We still have slavery.
Best country on the face of the planet huh..ya sure
@@TEMUJINARTS according to whom?
@Imperial-Socialist are you all there..????
@@TEMUJINARTS yes. Do you lack comprehension?
@Imperial-Socialist lol the irony..
Tell me big man, what am.i missing?
(This is foot in mouth time for ya)
The first minute is the caller's way of trying to mold the conversation in a way that they can refute you. Which is pretty scummy.
the point is should any human, for any reason, own another human. the bible condones it.
The poor caller hasn't a clue what his holy book endorses and got smacked senseless.
The context of my comment obviously means I'm getting eggs from the store today.
And he never called back
In what context at all is slavery ok?
Exactly " they were horrível people"
But jesus though!!😂
6:35 oh that’s manifest destiny. Damn and I was raised to think sky daddy loved me. Smh
No kidnapping! WAIT WHAT?
This was so sad. That guy was flailing the whole time.
He was justifying slavery if they weren’t Jewish or Christian . Context. He was desperate for context.
This man is embarrassing. Making a full blown dolt of himself.
Cooked 😂
I wish darth wasnt scared of your knowledge of this book so you could cook him
I love the chat. Even when they win, MAGA is mad.
Spoiler, he never called back.
😂 they never do
Why would G-d let his word or divinely inspired words be taken out of context so much if knowing him is so important? G-d's not very good at communication... and money.
On one hand radical christians say, the bible is said to be the word of god and to be taken literally and then when their arguments fail they say you have to take everything in context. This one did it quick.
Does he condone it? No. Does he use it toward his purpose? Yes.
Look at where we are now and where things were. What happened to make americans abolish slavery and how and what little details made it possible as much as the big ones.
Allowing and commanding a practice is condoning it. Yahweh allows and commands slavery. So, Yahweh condones slavery.
@thedeebo410 no condoning is saying it's good, I've never read that God or Jesus say he saw and/or made slavery and said, "This is good" or "I accept this"
@thedeebo410 besides which definition of condone are you wanting to use
Roasted
Before the Civil War when slavery was legal, that was exactly the context, right? Humanity has evolved since then. We the people made the bible out of context.
