The hype for this movie is becoming insane. Opening night, I’m there zero questions asked.
Opening night with a packed house of horror fans could make this top tier horror theater viewing.
Legit want to see this with people so bad lol
I am sitting here imagining a theater full of people all throwing their bags of popcorn up in the air from terror, all at the same time…what an epic scene that would be for a hidden camera 😂
@@kimberlyadams2794I don’t think it’s going to be that kind of movie.
Wait till Smile 2 comes out
That’s the only thing I’m scared about is the hype!!!! Please don’t let me down
Im soooo happy for Nick Cage. From taking any role he could get, to starring in hit after hit imo.
@@lilakscy I mean well yeah he had to do what he had to do. He’s a hustler. But as he was doing these films. He always gave us 100%. He wasn’t like a Steven Seagal type of dude. He put his 100% in every movie he did and it’s amazing. Because I like that they recognize this stuff. People don’t love Willy Wonderland, but I personally do. I love the silent protagonist. But that’s not the point. The point is that he takes every roll seriously. And now look at him.
Mandy is already my favourite film, and Longlegs is already looking promising.
I loved him in Sympathy for the Devil and also Mandy like the other commenter stated.
You had me at “since Hereditary”, bro!
Me too!!!
But lost me at “Sinister” hahaha. Still, good review =)
The marketing staff need a raise! The teasers with no title were genius and then the ones with the title still didnt show us anything! Ive been hyped for this movie for months and i love Nic Cage-he is so genius!
From what's going around online, most of the people who've seen this movie are shook after. And they love it.
I saw it a bit ago and I’ve thought bout it almost every day. Mostly just wanna talk to people about it lol
When does it come out though ?
@@FlickeringMyth Sounds like my kinda horror. 🏴 You're lucky to have seen it early. I've been wanting to to see it since February. lol
I just got done watching it! I needed a few drinks after! No spoilers enter st your own risk...
What would you rate it from 1-10? Where does this movie stack up against all the other elite horror movies like Hereditary?
Nicholas Cage is known for two things:
Great movies
Horrible movies
I believe this film will be one of the greatest he’s done. Will be fun to see him as a villain
Your enthusiasm for this film is pretty contagious - I have been looking forward to Longlegs since the first trailer. Thanks
It’s been a while that I’ve enjoyed a movie this much. Shockingly it’s much easier to review a movie when you like it 😅
Atmospheric horror movies are always the most terrifying because your own mind is filling in the blanks. Se7en was very good at doing this. I can't wait for this.
I can’t believe I have to wait another month for this movie- very excited
So worth the wait! Avoid any other details on it and just feast on those great trailers
Legit so excited.
I genuinely don't remember being this excited for a horror movie
Neon seems to be very confident and might establish their brand through long legs to give a24:some solid competition.
I come to UA-cam simply to see if any more trailers have dropped LOL
It Follows is my favorite horror movie so I am excited for any new film starring Maika Monroe. I also loved Oz Perkins' Blackout's Daughter so I'm even more excited for Longlegs. Judging from the trailer and your review, it sounds like a mixture of Silence of the Lambs, Hereditary, and The Shining.
That mixture honestly sounds pretty accurate.
Now I'm excited with Longlegs. Hereditary is the only movie that scared me since Exorcist when I was a kid. I've seen tons of horror movies looking for that same experience from both movies I mentioned.
you dont know how happy i a to hear this film lived up to the marketing
And not only lived up but I think matched. You know when trailers and marketing feel like they are selling a different movie? These trailers sell the exact the movie
Late Night with the Devil was hyped up like this, and that film was a disappointment. It had an uneven tone, some really terrible performances, and underwhelming "scares". Not to mention a montage for the first 7 minutes that spoiled everything about where the story was going.
I don't know what to believe about LONGLEGS. I hope it's great, but the wound from LNwtD is still fresh.
Ooh I love your review! Thx for not giving too much away. ❤❤❤
I didn’t want Oz and Neon sending Longlegs after me for spoiling
Im so hyped for this film. This is my most anticipated film of the yr. And salute to Nick cage for a great comeback. Hes been doing great roles lately.
i wann see this so bad since the first creepy teaser ... you got me so HYPED EJ...
your comment about wearing black to mourn all our scariest movies made me subscribe!!!!! first video and looking forward to more
😂😂 that means a lot!
I was already looking forward to Longlegs but your review got me really excited.
I'm so jacked for this. Cage has been pumping out quality and it was only a matter of time he hit on one BIG TIME
Super stoked about this one. Agree on Hereditary, was honestly on edge of seat hoping we could hurry through it bc it was so utterly dreadful, but loving every second of it. I will say I've only felt that way for one director's work since then, Demián Rugna, with his entries of Terrified and then one of my fav horrors of ALL TIME: When Evil Lurks. Thanks for the review, new sub. Cheers mate.
When Evil Lurks really made last year such a fun year for gore and shock horror again!
I was already excited to see this movie, but then I saw your review and now I can not wait!!! I will be there opening night, for sure. Love your enthusiasm and attention to all the little details. I’m thinking it’s going to be a film that once you see it you have to go back and watch it again to pick up on things that you may have missed the first time 🍿
I have so many notes written down just for my rewatch and to make sure I pick on things!
I didn't know the director Osgood (I only heard of the son as Oz) was one of the children of Anthony Perkins from Pyscho, that's so cool!
Horror is in his DNA. I even like Papa Perkins as a director for Psycho 3
I thought he was totally gay and never had kids??? He had kids??? What?? Lol
@@SomethingSomethingg there's a lot of muddiness on his sexuality, it's believed he was gay or bisexual but he did marry a woman when he was 41 and she was 25 and they had 2 kids together and were married until she died in the 9/11 terrorist attack. Even if he was fully gay there were a lot of men back in the day and even now who marry women and have families because of the stigma.
I’m so motherfucking pumped for this goddamn movie fuck!!!
Stay pumped!
Awesome review! I'm so excited!
I hope you like it! Coming very soon
Great review, can't wait to see it!
I hope you enjoy!
I just happened across this review and really appreciated it. Nicely done. There aren’t any movies coming out this summer that I’m interested in, so I’m checking out “Long Legs.” I’m not a Nicholas Cage fan, but this review has convinced me to see the movie. The last movie of this nature I thought was worth seeing was “Se7en,” so I hope this one measures up.
The new Longlegs trailer quoted you. Congratulations.
Thank you so much! We also made it onto one of the posters as well. Couldn't be happier for it to be this
Blackcoats Daughter is one of my favorite movies. I’m excited for this!
They have had me hyped for MONTHS. Any new content, I’m grasping for it like straws😭😭 better be hype
Can't wait for this movie!! I have been excited since the mini trailers came out. It is not often we get really great horror!
You have amazing energy, instant sub.
That honestly means the most to me. I want to make it feel like you're calling a friend and gossiping about movies
Thanks for sharing your thoughts man, not a lot of video reviews currently, many horror fans have been intrigued by this film including myself , can't wait to watch it myself. also, you've been subbed. keep up the good work. (:
I can’t wait for others to review it on here! Gonna start a lot of conversations
Just saw the trailer and always been intrigued with horror movies growing up. This looks good!
A fan of Hereditary and Sinister? Man after my own heart! Subscribed. :)
Welcome aboard to our scary movie club!
Damn it needs to be July 12th already!
Really appreciate this “critique”
Only reason I use quotes is you truly did your utmost not to spoil anything-MUCH appreciated
I’ve got some theories about Cage, remembering him talking about an antagonist he was excited for that “is a deranged Geppeto”
-which gives me a few idea on what’s under the black veils/sheets; & if they may influence the targeted families through the occult
Your 1 of many that has absolutely love it; appreciate the review m8👍
I have been counting down the days until the one drops. I’m so damn excited for it
Hope you enjoy! It’s gonna be something that needs more than one viewing, I need another one asap
I mean with the trailers staying with me I can only imagine what the film will do. Thank you Oz
Yes I figurdd the studio knew they had a banger of a film on their hand. It's being released during a premiere summer weekend usually reserved for Nolan's films. Mid July. I have my calendar marked for this one. The trailers alone have me looking over my shoulder
I think it’s gonna be an interesting little film at the box office. Word of mouth will be key so if you like it, you gotta tell like 3 friends about it
@@FlickeringMythI don’t think there is another genre that benefits from word of mouth like horror does. You want to see what all the fuss is about, you want to see why all of your friends are pissing their pants.
I'm psyched for this movie
Great review! No spoilers and the anticipation for this movie is off the charts after watching this!!!
First time here, and just wanted to say I loved your excitement over this movie and am so looking forward to seeing it 😂
Welcome aboard! It’s so much fun to talk about a movie you love lol
Can’t wait to see it!
Really hope you enjoy it!
This is my most anticipated this year behind civil war! Can’t wait
Interesting!❤
Gives me Seven vibes. That movie was next level when it comes to a sense of dread.
2:58
"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"? That's high praise.
So excited!
This better be showing in Dolby Cinema tho. My local theater's screen is kinda blurry and the audio is...crunchy. This film looks like it will have some fantastic sound design and I don't want that to be marred.
Btw, how is the gore/gross factor? I've heard the term "hyper-violent" thrown around.
The violent is often sudden and shocking but it’s not like it’s a Saw or Terrifier level of gross. To that, the violence here sits with longer!
And oh this would look good with the Dolby!
@@FlickeringMyth I'm also assuming that this had great jump scares? I love it when a movie combines solid jumps that don't feel cheap with palpable dread.
Also, do you think that this film will polarize audiences (i.e, have a low RT audience score) despite critical acclaim?
The black coats daughter is one of my favorite horror movies it's terrifying so I'm so excited
Like a child before Christmas, I can't wait for opening day!
It’s the horror gift we've been waiting on 🙌
1:01 Hereditary and Sinister, that has to mean something. I liked the mystery around Hereditary though it was also scary; Sinister with the kid appearing out of absolutely nowhere in the dark behind the dad, yeah. Very few times I've been scared in recent horror films as of post-Paranormal Activity 1.
Have you watched paranormal activity again recently? It scared the hell out of me then but since re watching it really doesn’t hold up! Just wondering how you feel, not arguing with you!
Now THIS is how you do a spoiler-free review! 👏🏼 EJ, you've earned yourself a new subscriber. It's been so long since a reviewer has made me want to see a movie this much. Your praise for the filmmaking itself is terrific, too! I now know sort of what to expect, and I know I'm going to love Longlegs 😊.
Welcome aboard! I came to the conclusion during this review that talking about movies I love is such a rewarding feeling.
Glad I didn’t give too much away and tried to mostly go off of what the trailers have teased
I'm probably gonna request the day off so I can see it opening day. So excited. I remember the very first teaser that didn't even tell you what the movie was or anything.
Don't worry the movie also leaves you puzzled like that 🙌
@@FlickeringMyth happy to hear it!! I've loved Perkins' last movies, Blackcoats Daughter and Gretel and Hansel.
I AM SO EXCITED! As a horror fanatic, I haven’t been this excited since hereditary!
I don't know why the algorithm recommended your video, but when you mentioned the marketing for long legs a movie I've never heard I stopped to watch the trailer and DAM 🦌
I don't stop random videos for random random movies I don't know.
Why this time
Why this movie!?
Could there be dark malevolent forces at work here? I can't say for sure but right now sitting in a dark room in a unfamiliar house.
Yes I'm writing this from under the covers 🙃
😂😂😂 the internet said it was time to spook you
First time seeing your content, I absolutely LOVE your review. Cannot wait to see this in theaters. Trying to convince my girlfriend to see it with me 😂
Subscribed, looking forward to more of your reviews!
Thank you for joining! We do like 8 videos a month, mostly focused on horror!
And hope your gf sees it! Tell her it's the best worst date movie ever 😂
I used to see films by myself all the time until I got into a car accident and lost my car almost a year ago. Tomorrow I’m supposed to check out a car at a dealership and I might finally be able to drive and see this film myself. I have missed the ritual so much. Still scared AF of this movie from the trailers alone though 😂
Now you have me excited for this one! Thanks.
Glad to hear it! I need to see it again…and again 🙃
Can’t wait for this film!
where did you get that Pink Opaque neon light on the table there?
All lights from Amazon!
Good to hear that the film lives up to the brilliant trailers.
I haven’t been genuinely scared by a movie in a long time. So pumped!!
I love being creeped out and it’s nice to have something like this
Sounds like Zodiac mixed with True Detective Season 1. I am sold.
You nailed it
Thank you for sharing you got the same vibe as you did with Hereditary.... Even by the teasers I have felt the same vibe..... Must be amazing!
Obviously the stories are different but that sense of dread Hereditary had is all over this. Somehow though, I found this far darker and harder, similar to how I think Midsommar is so bleak despite being such a bright film
I remember a scene is Prisoners made the entire audience gasp in shock. I hope we get a lot of those feels from this.
I definitely want to see this
Hate to admit I haven't seen an Oz Perkins film before, but I know who he is. He had his own mini segment on the Queer for Fear documentary where he was talking about his father. It left me feeling emotional.
I loved his segment in Queer for Fear! What a story
Not hard since there was nothing in the last decade. Last ones were True Detective season 1 ans It Follows maybe. But I believe you its looks amazing.
Im hypeddd
Yesss. I agree!! I LOVE it when the sound design is also really good. And the flip of a page or them breathing - it’s like they’re right next to you. I love that shit! It’s so juicy!! ❤
I'm looking forward to this. I was a big fan of Anthony Perkins. Im glad to see Oz directing more films!
We are entering an era of a new Oz movie like every four years, that's perfect if they'll keeping being like this.
They put the title of your video on one of their posters for the movie 😮
I just saw! Truly so shocked and honored
he's probably part of the hype machine and paid to praise the movie. many studios realize that the "social influencers" on youtube can hype a movie better than a TV commercial now.
I really don’t want to get overhyped and get hit with a letdown
Poor Nicholas Cage...From a GOOD ACTION STAR...to A Evil Serial Killer...🤯🤯😪
There was a lot of hype for Hereditary. The fact they said it was scarier than The Exorcist got me hyped then I seen it and honestly hated it. I revisited it 3 times in hope of something, I love the small details of it but for me, the gore wasn't there enough, and as much as I absolutely adore Toni Collette and the director Ari Aster it's a hard pass for me. This trailer though is chefs kiss. I see the Silent of The Lambs, I see the Se7en type of vibes of what makes a classic horror. I wanna see this so bad!
I don't remember such hype for horror. Respect!
I haven't been this excited for a movie (that i will actually go see on the big screen) in a very long time. Ever since Dune Part I and Part 2. Before that it has been years and years since i was impatiently and excitedly waiting to hit theaters; i mean im almost marking off days on a paper calender like some bored housewife waiting for a package from ebay after outbidding everyone in an auction for an antique spoon with the last missing united states mimi spoons collection.
Not the paper calendar! Like you’re waiting for a soldier to come home from war. And the soldier this time is a scary ass movie
I think I must have been distracted watching hereditary because I hardly remember it somehow. I agree about Sinnister though
Is it fast paced? planning to see it
I'd say medium pace if that makes sense. I was surprised when it was over cause it moved smoothly, but it does slow burn to a huge climax
How did you get an advance screening?
We are fortunate enough to get access to press screenings.
Damn, you are lucky FM!! 😢
There is another film trailer that follows the same vein as Longlegs: Cuckoo coming out in August, another movie I am sincerely excited to see. The. Bike. Scene…go check it out cause I am still creeped out. Dan Stevens and Hunter Schafer star in it so I am sold on that alone
Does anyone know how to see early screenings for movies?
i'm not sure how this person did it, but usually you either get invited due to being a popular reviewer or you go to one of the big film festivals. longlegs for example was played at an early screening in LA sometime a few weeks ago
AMC cinemas are pretty good with showing sneaks for movies, but you may have to subscribe to their A-List plan. You can see up to 12 movies a month in four week periods for.just under 25 bucks. Any day, any time, any format. Join, add the app to your smartphone and you are good to go. Even if sneaks aren't offered weeks in advance, they almost always open the big movies one day prior to opening day. I can't speak for any other movie chain, but AMC never disappoints me.
You have to know someone in the industry or someone with a platform.
I am genuinely shocked to see a horror film get 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Though I'm curious if the more highbrow critics will agree.
Lucky, man. Wish I could see the film right now.
Is a movie for Oscar main categories?
"Scariest" is subjective.
Of course! I find religion, serial killers, and atmosphere to be the scariest parts of horror, so this worked.
Now it just depends on what you like and what creeps you out, which I think this has something for everyone to be scared by at least once
How was the soundtrack? I heard they played a handful of “glam rock” which gets me excited.
There’s definitely music but I can’t personally recall. I’m more of a score than soundtrack person with these, but it definitely feels late 80s/early 90s with it rock choices.
I am very cautiously optimistic. Firstly, I don't like to get myself too hyped up for any movie anymore; I usually end up enjoying stuff more in general when I don't come into it with massive expectations awaiting fulfillment (a lesson learned most pointedly during Prometheus). Secondly, I've already seen The Blackcoat's Daughter and I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and those two films, both written and directed by Oz... were not great. They were pretty and atmospheric, but they were also meandering, overly pretentious, and annoying, completely wasted their talented casts, and proved ultimately pointless. Perhaps he'll get it right this time around. I mean, I'm hoping he does. But I won't be betting on it.
nice review! how much gore was in it? love horror movies but not the biggest fan of over the top gore
So the gore is the most intriguing to me. It’s brutal and often sudden but it doesn’t linger on the gore like a Saw or Hostel. It’s bloody and gross at times but i wouldn’t call it a gory movie
Would you consider it Hereditary mixed with Se7en?
Very much that! In a lot of more ways than you'd think…
@@FlickeringMyth can't wait then, I wanna see nic go full cage 😂
Oz Perkins? I'm there
He's utterly insane as a filmmaker
From what Ive gathered from research heres whats likely:
-the killer manipulates people into doing his killings. Talk about efficient.
-there's a discussion in the beginning of the film that gives away the ending.
-it has a super intense first 10 minutes.
-prediction: the killer tries to manipulate the protagonist's mother into to killing her and that is the crux of the conflict.
Great review
Is it better then the exorcist believer
This sounds like it’s going to be a good one .
I am amazed nobody is doing any trailer reactions to Oddity which is another film that's got a good rating and looks creepy.
It's going to be one of those moments like when Sixth Sense came out and another movie that was just as good never got noticed called "Stir of Echoes" because it came out about a month later about the same type of thing.
I have a rather low tolerance for disturbing / gory kills, so idk how I’m gonna handle this one. Are any of the kills kind of torture-y, because that might turn me away from the movie
What's the twist? I'm okay with a good spoiler.
Without spoilers of course, does this have a satisfying or badass ending? I don’t wanna feel miserable about a sad depressing ending I need some kind of payoff haha
Sooooo the ending is insane. It’s hard hitting and sits with you but it delivers!
