Watching Missy grow into herself is my favorite part of the whole show. She really seems to grow the most and for the better ( not without some mistakes tho obvi)
Man the conversation about code switching is real. It's too simple imo to say that white people don't do it too though. You think I talk with my friends the same way I do to my grandma? It's definitely not as pronounced as their example here though. Plus, it would be offensive for a white person to "act black" to try and be inclusive of black people. It is absolutely bullshit that black people need to act white and non threatening to survive, to get in to college, etc. I don't think that's really the same as code switching.
Context matters. Your grandmother doesn't have any power but us being taught to talk a certain way to be deemed socially acceptable is based on power dynamics that you will never experience. It comes down to our hair, if it's colored,, the way it's styled, our clothing, body types, etc. It's much deeper actually. What makes code switching so bad for us is that it doesn't always work.
That's true, though I call it 'putting on a mask'. I act different when I'm talking to my friends than my family, so it makes sense I'd wear different 'masks'.
LMFAO WHY DAVONNE DID ALL THAT IN THE BEGINNING!! I was rolling-all that unnecessary and incorrectly used slang 🤣 Anyways I love the lady with short hair, what was her name?
For Missy's comeback, that's a good one

“Oooh, that’s true. That donkey suffers.” 😂😂😂

The only way I can think of a white person having to code switch is if they're a queer person.@@ronnydraper

Why does devon look like token from south park 💀
Apparently Token is now Tolkien, they even changed it in the subtitles for all their old episodes and called us racist for saying different
@@rosegirl3220guess what Matt n Trey the video games of back then still say Token lmao
@@rosegirl3220 did you took the time to read all old episodes subs just to cry about it? lmaoo
He has Token's color scheme in this scene, I can see it.
A strawberry approved.
The problem is while I sympathize with what she's saying you never seems to Advance people in the right direction
I'm not black but I do code switch because somtimes I don't want to be seen as queer foreign or disabled. For safety or convince reasons.
That's not code switching just basic masking
How does code switching stop people from seeing you as foreign or disabled????
What is that ending song?
Bad blood by Taylor swift
Sounds acoustic
