Great video and excellent information. All y’all’s opinions in the video and in the comments are spot excellent points. Thank you very much! Me personally have been using the adidas red melee 2. I only have two left and have been looking for the next bat that feels similar. Right now I got a 2023 cellblock wigpopper and a 2023 hangman in 26oz I’m trying. I’m 58 yo. What else is comparable out there like those Melee 2 in y’all’s opinion?
Thank you, Men for the fine and fun video. It is greatly appreciated. Question: I really like the shirt/jersey you are wearing. Is there a site I can purchase a couple of them? Be well, God bless.
Does the Proton hot butter have a hard barrel ? The one I have is the 1 piece yellow and blue the barrel is sooo hard to me. I don’t really use it cause of how hard it is. Does the hot butter have any flex in the handle ?
If you wouldn’t mind could I ask for recommendations? Me and my buddies are starting a new softball team average age 24 we got a few bats on deck already miken freak 2024, torch m2 2021, monsta bombardier, warthog, and a few others. I saw your review on the gangreen and I was very interested on that bat but what else would you recommend to a young team just starting out
@@fredrich3386 so I’m guessing you’re hitting 52/300 balls. So you can’t go wrong with anything Monsta but there’s Pure Bats like the Hellfire and take a look at some of the Anarchy stuff also.
@@FatGuyBPyeah hitting with those balls I also picked up a hellfire boneyard the other day I’ll have to take a look into the anarchy stuff as well if any specific recommendations I would appreciate it thanks my brother for all your help!
Interesting choices, what's more interesting is the fact that you and Chad are vastly different style of hitters with drastically different results. Chad mashes the ball so the fact he likes softer barrels is quite shocking. Every bat you two chose as far as I know have a softer barrel which generally doesn't translate well for guys with faster/harder swings.
@@josulli6811 who says ? Not being confrontational but it’s like categorizing a guy. I have slower bat speed but prefer a stiffer handle (slower bat speed guys lean towards flexier handle) . Chad is a very strong power hitter but prefers lighter weights and you would think he would prefer heavier. I get what you’re saying though and understand what you mean.
@@FatGuyBP not being confrontational either. Just my experience and watching tons of bat reviews for the most part softer barrels compress much easier and when guy who mash the ball like Chad over compress the barrel and the trampoline effect isn't as effective as it would be with a harder barrel. Like I said just my observations over the past 5 years of playing Senior ball that guys who mash seem to lean towards harder barrels and slower speeds lean towards softer barrels. But everyone is different and likes different things.
@josulli6811…. No I agree, but there is a difference in soft barrels….Suncoast is probably the softest and I didn’t like it…but you watch the ball and the bat just performs. Also seniors is hard to find a stiffer barrel two piece, like the team mastery one piece.
@@cmellott11 I hear ya, I am not a fan of soft barrels and you're right finding harder barrels in 2 piece EL is hard.. My 2 favorites are the Onyx Orange/Black and this years 13.5 Blue Onyx. For me hands down those are the best performing 2 piece bats. I've swung everything you guys listed except the Ikonic and for results, sound and feel the Onyx bats work best for me. I do have the new Helmer and I like it better than last years and it feels great but only has about 100 swings on it.
@@EduardoRodriguez-g1r blue wig popper is in my top 5. Any senior bat is going to have but so many swings on it before she goes. I rank that bat up their with Foster
Sadly I tried SSB. In great shape in my 60s. It wasn't at all as I had hoped. Felt like the kid of the group and everyone stone faced serious about winning. Joy Level at -0-. Too bad cause I felt like Superman out there as at 200 lbs and can still jump, swing and sprint like a 25 year old. Do TM 14mph 30-sec HIIT training daily. So MANY RULES and not one person cared to help or explain anything. Even offered to pay the whole tab at a fancy batting cage to prepare and no takers. Thanks North Clackamas Oregon SSB!! Just pathetic.
So sorry you had a bad experience. I've played there for the last four years and although I agree it's a mixed bag, I've generally had a good time. Maybe I've been lucky. Fortunately I play with some guys who get it, and we try to compete without taking ourselves too seriously. At our age if we are still thinking it's all about winning, we are missing the point. We are lucky to still be playing a game we love, and as usual, it is truly about the relationships and friendships. I play in all three of the main Portland/Vancouver Senior leagues, and they each have strengths and weaknesses.
Love these top 5s - keep it going Adam - love to see your top 5 two piece USSSA next??

Great video guys!
I was a Suncoast guy for a long time....I swung an Onyx one time and that's all I swing now.
Any problems with the bats breaking? That's what I've heard and seen

medium barrel with some handle flex. if you think the 1-piece is hard but then you might think the butter is stiffer. great bat though
Good review

I’ve been swinging Onyx for 2nd year in a row. Bombs and average way up since …
Look out for the new 12” coming out in a couple of weeks ☝🏽#swingonyx
What happen to the Short Porch Hotdog?
@FrankHardcastle-nq4jm… for me the bat was too flexy it performed but I had to adjust my swing to much.
