so i love the fact the devs take alot of things to heart when the voice of Kiryu says something that he thinks Kiryu will or won't say. And this brings up something that i remember in another interview with the arkham city game. When the director of the game would talk to Kevin Conroy, who voice batman, Kevin would always put in his word on how he thinks Batman would speak and how this is how the line should be. The devs know the man behind the voice has more of insight and deeper meaning of the characters then the ones who created him.
The way they approach overseas appeal I definitely appreciate, I feel like too often Japanese devs will go too far trying to cater to a Western audience and forget that the Japanese elements are what made their game dope to us in the first place; but also I don't think they should just ignore us either. After watching Capcom in particular be guilty of both things for many years it's refreshing to hear about a studio striving to find that middle ground.

The series has great women. They're everywhere. Yumi was great, Reina too. Granny White was a serious badass. Kaoru is amazing, she even helps Kiryu beat up thugs when she's escorting him around. Haruka showed incredible maturity in Yakuza 3 at the orphanage, despite being a child. 4 had Yasuko, Saejima's sister and a killer. Judgment has the incredible Saori. Yakuza 7 has the GOAT in Saeko and the cool as hell Seong-hui. I don't know why the series gets thrown under the bus when it comes to women. It has a huge playerbase and is incredibly popular with them too. The issue is that the West thinks that a strong woman can only be some blood-soaked, potty-mouthed, masculine 80s action star. Basically Rambo in a dress.
I’m glad Yokoyama is apprehensive about the suggestions given to them by SOA, the biggest selling point about their projects is that they’re tailor made for the Japanese
8:10 I'm really enjoying Like a Dragon Ishin, but some of the changes made to the game for the remake seem to mess with the tone of the original. Take Yamazaki Susumu, AKA the spymaster of the Shinsengumi. In the original 2014 release he was portrayed by a character named Kugihara from Yakuza 5, a prison inmate with a nasty scar on his face. Yamazaki is a sadist who enjoys torturing people and seems to pop up out of nowhere. And for some reason they replaced him with Joon-Gi Han from Yakuza 6/Like a Dragon. To be fair to the change, in 6 Joon-Gi Han had similar sadistic tendencies, bullying and striking his lackeys, but the casting still feels kind of off. It feels like a character that should've been left alone.
Maybe they don't have a contact with the Voice of Kugihara anymore and from my hypothesis point, lot of people Hate Kugihara the most that they wish he's erased from existence because how sadistic he's on the game? Again, This all is my speculation. So feel free to add another thing inside yours to add discussion
After beating the game, I thought that scene where Takechi has white hair was a visual bug. Now I have absolutely no idea why he randomly shows up with a colour change
