- Last minute decision to go to this old place and i am glad I did.
I was out here relic hunting metal detecting a couple of months ago and I had found a large copper coin that was slick without detail. I figured I would go back and check the area. This old deserted NH farm had been lived upon from the 1700s 1800s and into the early 1900s so the finds are of a great mix. Well I found another large copper coin feet away from the first one and it is also slick. I will tell you what I do with them in this video and how you might be able to get some detail from them to ID them. Finding old coins metal detceting is always great but sometimes you can't even tell what they are.

Charlie - a trick the retired State archeologist here in Ct told me is to wet the coin good with a good grade of olive oil and wrap it tightly in cheesecloth and forget about it for a few weeks, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the results and you have no damage from scraping or brushing. I have near a hundred coppers I’ve done that with and some now look like they were dropped a short time ago .

It floors me to think that a couple hundred years ago there was a house, barn, and farm there… I don’t know why, it just does.
Me too-I guess I just imagine so much life and memories there and it’s all abandoned and gone. Maybe we are the ultimate empaths lol
I have a friend who restores antique motorcycles and he does the pocket tumbler with small parts , nuts , bolts , screws , and has great success . PS remove them before the washing machine gets them !

Some 220grit sandpaper brings out the detail on rotten copper/bronze coins right away, nothing to lose sanding rotted junk coins. I've been able to id quite a few toasted coins I've found here in southern Maine using that method.
Great hunt Charlie. My Hunts as of late have been the same with weather forecast😡🤬😠canceled the last two. Called heavy rain and t-storms. Had a passing shower and sunshine!!

Ive done that "tumbler" method and it DOES work. But, it probably won't work with soyboy tight pants...you need to be wearing normal mens pants for the coins to do its thing.
Procell Constant are not rechargeable.
My state no longer recycles alkaline, although went recharge decades ago.

Dude get a real shovel. All you do is dig in the woods nobody's ever going to see your holes. It's so much better for your joints and health. How do you not have awful carpal tunnel by now?
