Great video Twortles :) Very insightful stuff, hopefully, VRC can grow sustainably and retain a community mindset even though they have so much VC behind them. Guess we will have to wait and see.
they arent following their own TOS anyways so wheres the problem
Huh, didn't know about all the recent senior level hiring. That's really interesting, let's see if we feel the effects of that soon.
ex Facebook type execs hoppin over and infecting other companies is a very common story. crossing fingers that this doesn't happen with VRC too :x
Eventually you're going to reach a ceiling, perhaps this is a point like that.
I just hope it breaks through the ceiling and keeps going because I like VR a lot c:
I've made worlds that have hit the trending page with over 100K visits, and I completely agree wit this sentiment as well.
I can't bring myself to build anything more for this platform especial give the SDK bugs, networking limitations, and lack of exposed functions in UDON.
I received a beta invite to work with the creator economy and even this hasn't been enough to motivate me to make anything due to the poor documentation along with the %50 cut.
It doesn't seem worth it considering how little you actually receive.
I've started working on my own standalone VR unity projects as it's becoming harder and harder to justify building content for that platform.
Fantastic video dude, very informative and matter of fact without strong bias one way or the other. Just a good picture of what is occurring. Awesome investigative reporting man!
Thank you 🙏 glad you enjoyed it
It's interesting to see that side of things on VRC because I've only been in the game pretty recently (last summer) and even in the little time I played, there has been some changes
I’m curious to know what changes you might have noticed as a more recent player
@@Twortles Mainly what I remember is the addition of the V currency and how it's already changing creators and also the updated version of Unity for creation
Great video Twortles! We need these discussions to happen or the rot will set in at VRchat. Maybe its inevitable and maybe its already beyond saving, but I like to think we can help push VRChat in the right direction.
Wouldn’t say rot inside of vrchat lol
But I’m certainly curious to see where the next 1-2 years will lead the platform
I liked this style of video! Ofc i still like the others but this was really well put together! Keep it up!
With VRChat's increasing playerbase and growth, a lot of tensions have been slowly rising to the surface.
Is this just another case of long term developers outgrowing their environment? Or is it something more?
What do you guys think?
Also, Merlin's patreon is here. www.patreon.com/MerlinVR
Please support them as they go through this transition and for making Udon# awesome
What about how vrchat adding udon 2 and persistance? Isnt that a good thing though? Wont that bring in a lot more creators?
Merlin was one of the lead developers for Udon2
And yes, persistence would be a welcome change for VRC in general, but its going to take a while
Great video dude 🙂
Amazing content, only person covering this
What about the other platforms similar to VRChat?
Excellent video!
Thank you bro ^^
VRChat has changed a lot, and seeing the OG game creators leaving is just a big sign. We either leave and reminisce the great beginnings or accept change and hope for a better future of VRChat.
The wild west of vrchat is over zzz
idk about y'all but I'm not interested in these social VR apps until they involve items. I don't see the point in standing around a static map with nothing to do, bare minimum give me a coin to flip or a ball we can toss around y'know? NeosVR looked real promising, now my sights are on Resonite
Some VRChat worlds already have items you can play around with like cards, pool tables, balls, coins, dice etc.
Now if you're talking about items you can take with you from world to world, that's something entirely different
@@Twortles That's what I'm talking about, yeah. Resonite has the right idea, you just have a persistent inventory of stuff and can carry it all with you & take anything out wherever you go. I'm told you can make these items yourself in-headset with the ingame tools, and then you can give em to people / let people clone em. I love the idea of exploring the worlds of VRchat, but it'll never grab me til there's something to find. I can't buy into a digital beach until I can bring some of the sand back to put on my shelf, if that makes sense. Feels too transitory without something to remember it by, and 2D photos just don't capture what we're doing here. I don't want to poke at menus to invite you to my group, I just want to hand you a business card lol.
Twortles will save the vrchat world 🙏🏼
Please call it twitter and not X. As long as elon dead names his kid we should all be dead naming twitter.
its vrchat thats the problem, the devs are doing stupid mistakes to ruin the game
It's a fad. like 3D tv
Most normies will never even see it as VR itself is a fad.
A lot of people are quitting because they want shit to happen their way right now right away and that’s not how the word works things take time specially, if you want to do them right I want everybody to like it as far as the creator economy it’s best if they take their time and get it right. I’m excited to know what type of benefits they’re gonna have for streamers and UA-camrs.
I think we’ll have to give it a year or two to really see the effects impacting users.
