There is a place in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, called hall of hobbies. I got an original Xbox for only 40 dollars, works perfectly and I also got a New 3ds XL for only 60, again works perfectly. The games are also very cheap. I got a brand new copy of starwars battlefront 2 (original one) for 10 bucks! they are truly great!

Correct but it didn't gain traction for nearly 2 years. Don't you remember Nintendo slashing the cost so much that they sold it at a major loss, and hoped games sales would make up for it. The first year it barely sold 1.5 million units which had Nintendo feeling concerned.

Years ago I was able to find most of a Dreamcast in a box full of stuff for $20. I just had to buy the RCA cables which were about $7, and I was able to sell some of the other things for around $18.
And then my grandma decided to put the Dreamcast in a box and place it where my rabbit could get it, and I had to spend another $7 on RCA cables.
So in all I got a Dreamcast for technically around $16.
And then I bought Skies Of Arcadia for $60.
Edit: "One day ago?!" How did you post this the day before the video released?!

That's how it was when I found a complete copy of Megaman & Bass on GBA on Amazon for $35. Usually it would go for double that. Too bad it later didn't work out when I got Crash: The Huge Adventure which had a legit case and manual but a super bootleg cart (easy replacement at least).

FINALLY, someone who puts their sponsorships at the END of the video!!!!

    • @HarmoniChris
      @HarmoniChris 5 років тому +3

It's often required by the company, when accepting sponsorships like these, to place the ad read within the first minute of video. I guarantee most every content creator would prefer to put their ad reads at the end for audience retention reasons, but very often it's not up to them. Refusing to place the ad front and center means not getting paid for them in those cases.

@UCfhY_yJJm2QDZLlW1R4L7nA As a stand-alone, independent creator with a day job, I totally agree. The issue arises when you begin to depend on UA-cam revenue to pay your bills, put food on the table, etc. These people literally can't afford to be so picky with their advertisers.

Was some near mints copies of mega Man 2 3 and I believe 4 at a Goodwill.
I found some crazy nonexistent games at flea markets and thrift shops over the years.

    Pokemon Sapphire for $8
    GBA SP for $20
    Fire Emblem GBA for $10
I have much better luck at flea markets than I do at retro game stores. You get a combination of yard sale-style booths from people who don't know the value and booths that go every week to buy and sell retro games. I highly recommend checking out all the flea markets in your area if you're looking to collect retro games.

these are all great tips, especially the first one! when i used to collect vintage My Little Ponies, i ended up going to the local flea market pretty often. one of the sellers there actually started to recognize me, and one day i came in and he pulled out a huge garbage bag full of My Little Ponies and said he’d been holding them for me because he knew i’d like them. bought the whole bag for $40 and there ended up being well over $100 worth of plastic horses in there. the guy knew his prices so usually tried to sell at market value, but since i was a repeat customer he would haggle with me and let me buy some real rarities for dirt cheap. so be friendly to your local sellers!!

Thrift shops and flea markets at least were my go to spots for games.
When the retro market went absolutely insane something like a decade ago it started getting worse and worse.
A lot of repros and cheap Chinese knock-offs not to mention the same people as before charging way more for stuff in horrible condition just because the market was way stronger than before. Luck and timing are pretty much your best bets, also finding either decent people that won't super gouge you or people who just don't know what something is worth.
Sadly you're more likely to find the latter than the former.

I somehow have always just stumbled upon good deals through the years. A few include a Game Boy Micro and carrying bag for $25 at the local game shop, an NES with a Power Glove and various other accessories for $10 at a garage sale, a boxed Commodore 64 for $5 with a boxed floppy drive for another $5 at an estate sale the same day I got the NES, a free copy of Earthbound in a drawer of SNES games my cousin just gave me, and a free PS3 from my other cousin's friend because they didn't want it.
I've learned through the years that if you're patient then good deals will come to you, and I'm happy that it seems to work out well a lot of the time.

Back when I first started to get into collecting games, I remember really wanting to go to this local charity sale event. I thought this would be a good start to my game hunting so I went. Unfortunately, I missed my alarm and showed up so late the place was practically empty. Disheartened, I still looked around anyways and managed to find a FULL in box Dreamcast with BOXED controllers, like 20 games, and a bunch of accessories! The reason no one had purchased it was that the seller wanted to sell them all together but the Dreamcast was broken. Only wanted about $45 bucks for the whole lot so I bought it anyways. Took the thing to my local game store and it turned out to be a very small issue and got it fixed for free! Funny how it was my first retro console consider both the console and myself share a birthday 😁

The single most effective way I have found of getting gaming stuff super cheap is to check out thrift stores shortly after Christmas. Since it's the time of year people are most likely to replace their old consoles, and the time of year people are feeling the most generous/giving, game consoles get donated in larger than normal quantities, and thrift stores rarely price them for highly. Just this past January I was able to pick up an original Xbox for $8, a DS lite for $7, a Wii for $10, a Dreamcast for $5, and a 1st Gen 60gb PS3 in excellent condition for $50, by stopping by different thrift stores once or twice a week throughout the month (and all of them worked fine)

Never knew the game was so rare and we ended up selling the game at a rummage sale for $30 (we just looked at what it was selling for online at the time)

Hey, my Wii's graphics card broke too! I had the same black dot issue, the pattern would appear over every single texture
And when I played Super Paper Mario it was impossible for me to beat the 5th or 6th chapter because there's a cutscene where you have to fight 100 of these samurai guys that all load in through the same door at once, and the system couldn't handle it and would crash. Thought it was just the disc and spent a bunch of time trying to clean it, even bought a tool for cleaning dust and whatnot inside the disc reader
But then I lucked out and bought 3 Wii's at an auction for either 50 or 100 dollars, can't remember, but got a really solid deal

My 3 biggest deals are all surprisingly Nintendo finds as well, and is technically a list of 4. The first was finding a sealed copy of Banjo-Kazooie at the local flea market. After speaking with the guy and buying a few loose carts for my collection (N64, about 68ish% complete), he told me he had a couple sealed games. A couple older sports games, WWF No Mercy (which I also bought), and Banjo. He said he'd sell me both WWF and Banjo for $65. Done deal.
Second was my AGS-101 Gameboy Advance SP, that I bought from a co worker for a 12 pack of Heineken. No special story, he had it, I wanted it, he wanted beer. Boom, done.
Third (and technically fourth) would be how I got my Gameboy Player. I was at a different flea market, about 25 miles from my house. Came across a booth selling trading cards, action figures, and some video games. I saw the disc for the Gameboy Player, $3. Snatched it up, just figuring I'd eventually buy the Player itself and save a little money. Flash forward about 2 years, and I went to this pallet liquidation shop with my dad. They have an area where they buy product return pallets, as well as pallets of old stock items and dump them in bins. Anything you find is $2. I have been going for about a year at this point, finding some great deals. S.H. Figuarts figures, MTG FatPacks, all kinds of stuff. This time, I walk in and boom, right on top are two sealed Gamecube controllers. In my basket they go. A little digging, and theres two 256block official Memory cards. In the basket they go. Final bin, didn't find anything. My dad calls out to me and asks "what the hell is this? It says Gameboy but I've never seen anything like it." I froze. I grab it and make my purchase. Complete Gameboy player for $5.
