I’ve been doing this shit for two days and it’s fuckin atrocious. Almost feels like bad advice to tell us to play on hardcore though they say it gets easier
For the intro sequence on hardcore you can barricade yourself inside one of the two houses and just shoot to interrupt the barricade breaking animation until the clock runs out. It's best to finish this strat in the second house so you can collect more ammo on the way.
Idk they gave the VOS heisenberg fight such a increase in difficulty Supposedly, not being able to block is a glitch and some people are able to block and survive more than 3 hits. That definitely wasn't with my game. But I did beat him, eventually

Another thing is to know what to sell. Some items can be combined with others to create an object that is more valuable than its parts. You'll also gain access to hunting before the Duke gives you the cooking option, so you may accidentally sell off some of your meat before realizing there was another use for it.
The once nice thing that carried over from Resident Evil 4 Merchant - Upgrading gun capacity automatically fills. So if anybody is going to visit the merchant, purposely don't reload the gun (especially Sniper as you mentioned). Getting free shots is nice.
I'm so happy you guys mentioned that beginning fight sequence on hardcore feeling almost impossible...I was stuck on that part on hardcore for over an hour. I really felt like I was just horrible at video games but hearing other people acknowledge the bullshit that was that sequence is nice, and it's pleasing to know the rest of the game won't be anything like that. That was just pure frustration. I hate when games don't give you a way to progress yourself and you just have to wait on the game to grant you passage whenever it feels like through its *unknown to the player* trigger to proceed.
(I was playing on Standard though) When I got to that opening fight scene and with the larger number of enemies, I played the just "run away" game right away. If I recall, I think I only had a pistol with very little ammo. I knew I wouldn't win the fight, so the best move I thought was to just run. Smash boxes for items, and just sprint around the area, avoiding enemies as I can while picking up items. I think that's when I did find the shotgun (can't remember). Luring them into the explosive barrels did help take many of them out. The best way to describe the opening fighting sequence in the village reminds me of that same sequence in Resident Evil 4. Leon enters the village, engages with the hostile villagers. I read there that you complete that village after 7 minutes, or killing 15 enemies (a possibility that killing an enemy shortens the timer a little, but I have no confirmation on that). That's how I took that fight in RE8 in the Village. Using bookshelves to block doors did buy me time to scavenge as well as gain some distance. Anytime a game (especially RE) gives you very little ammo and a lot of enemies, retreating is usually the best bet if possible.
@@JediMastr80 I somehow survived by just running around the house and going underneath the house then on the roof of the other and kept repeating that. I didn’t even bother fighting them except killing the odd one or two. That shit was intense for your first experience.

Definitely go back to hardcore bro. That part is bullshit, but use a guide and get through it. The game is still hard after that, but it feels fair, and hardcore is just a better horror experience in mine and most other peoples opinion
One thing you forgot with the harder you go is enemy types spawn during times they would not during easier play throughs. Ie When you first see the armored lycan it actually spawns a second. Or fire arrow lycans spawn much more often/ during fights where they would not when playing normal or casual. Etc etc.
Same goes when I took on the first daughter in the castle. I'm in the hallway with her unloading bullets and slugs into her and all I needed to do was run.
I dont even have a console anymore because I'm having a kid in July but I still watch gameranx videos because 1. Giving the channel my support to increase their income 2. This dude is funny, my kids will watch these videos when they get stuck in a game and that ladies and gentleman's is a fact.
Fr, it just felt like a long winded flex or something, like "I didn't even bother with anything below hardcore, I'm so cool, blah" Like I dunno, I like falcon, but that part of the video was annoying to me
An important addendum to #7 - For weapons that have extended magazine attachments, those factor in when upgrading ammo capacity. The final shotgun for example, can get a drum magazine that adds I believe an extra 10-12 shots. If this is attached when you empty the gun and then you buy the ammo upgrade, it fills up to the new total with the attachment included - so you're basically getting 10+ free additional bullets than you otherwise would have. This lets you save a TONNE of ammo on the 1st playthrough (and it's not a wasted investment anyway since you have to max each gun out to unlock their infinite ammo option in the store)
@NO UGLY PIGFACES I think probably cos the enemies can’t attack you on the ladder. That scenario where all the Lycans are attacking you in the Village is a timed event so you need to survive until the cutscene by the river is triggered. But it can be quite difficult to survive especially in hardcore because there are a shit ton of enemies.
Yeaaa I tried that and to no avail. I just waited it out by running around and utilizing the barrels and flour and the environment. However I finally succeeded after dying literally 23 times (I counted). I'm playing on Hardcore.
The timer pauses when youre on the ladder the way you actually cheese it is to barricade a door and take pot shots every time they try to attack the door it will never get broken and it doesnt take a ton of pistol shots to do
My advice. Save your money and get the S.T.A.K.E revolver fully upgraded. It does so much more damage than the wolfsbane. And with a huge clip it can be a boss killer.
there is a strategy i use everytime for the lycan attack and it works 9/10 ... you just have to make it to the basement of that first house quickly, and sit in the corner and wait it out, most times this will take you right to the arrow part, and maybe even when the big boy drops in, without any enemies coming down (if they do come down, quickly run to the opposite side of the basement and camp that corner, blasting the enemies as they come down (they cant enter via the hole in the wall, only the ladder)
I selected hardcore as soon as I bought the game & I got all the way to the finale & realised I didn't have enough materials to make it. I had to load a save that was two bosses behind just to manage my items correctly lol. I agree starting on hardcore is definitely the ideal choice.
@Nigel Lush village of shadows with infinite s.t.a.k.e was far too easy imo BUT it is the most powerful gun sooooo.... I think the issue is it was far to easy to get infinite s.t.a.k.e. lol. Even after I squander all my points on other infinite weapons that I never used.
That whole thing about the difficulty was spot on. I always play on hard and I always get so frustrated but I'll say now that I'm half way (just got past the doll house) an I have been so horrified sometimes.. I don't wanna replay it but because of that but also it's been the best experience. And like in maybe a year or so I'll replay it
1 more useful tip too is if you block at the right time from an arrow attack you will actually catch the arrow in your hands like a badass! Not to mention if it's an achievement
Also a good thing to note... DONT SELL THE MEAT!! at the start it makes it seem like selling it is the only option but if you wait till later, the duke cooks it for you.
Same. And get the dragoon assault and unlimited ammo for new game + just by doing a few achievements. On 2nd playthrough on hardcore and I'm mowing down ppl.
I start playing resident evil 8 for first time on ps5 and I start with very easy one and today I change difficulty more harder and harder each time I complete game total (4) and I fully upgraded my simple pistol due these upgrades is cheap and now I will have infinity ammo
After beating the game the first time I thought to myself "this game kinda tells you or leads you into everything" so I knew this 10 things they don't tell you video was going to have some filler.
More fish locations when in Moreau’s area. After using the boat for the first time, before going on the hut, go right and you’ll find a pool with catfish and a jewel on a rock. After defeating Moreau, go back after his treasure and when you get it, more fish there. Don’t go up the elevator though or you won’t be able to go back.
I think one of the things I think it is amazing is the details of the hand throughout the game. I won’t spoil it but it is good to make note of and be amazed by it as well ^_^

You don't need to have the knife equipped to break stuff either. Ethan will automatically use the knife to break stuff. Some people either have the knife equipped or go to the inventory and equip it so they don't waste ammo but you don't have too.
My advice, after Standard Mode, play Casual until you get infinite LEMI and Shotgun Ammo stage before starting Hardcore. When it comes to spending the Bonus, use it first on Infinite Grenade Launcher ammo to absolutely shred at the start of Moreau. Then, bonus the Dragoon, followed by Shotgun infinite, then LEMI infinite (optional). Last, the Wolfsbane Revolver infinite build ammo. (Wolfsbane Infinite Ammo reduces the Miranda fight to under 2 minutes.)
Save your pipe bombs or grenade rounds for the groups of Crows that are on the ground when you first come into certain areas. They drop decent loot but if you just shoot one the rest will fly away for good.
I think Capcom should reboot the series after RE9. They gotta finish up Leon, Jill, Claire and Chris’ storyline. The same way Activision rebooted Modern Warfare which was to bring younger versions of OG characters to the modern day. Ethan’s games were great but the biggest issue I have is the lack of connections to the older games. Also I hope they go with the theory that Rose aged rapidly like Eveline, so we get a proper finale for the OG characters.
@@pelicanchampion8629 they probably didnt go with that theory since rose is the perfect version of eveline. Who was defective and made to be a weapon, also Miranda wouldn’t go through all that trouble for hundreds of years to make a daughter that will be aged to 90 in a short period of time
I would still recommend ‘normal’ for those who aren’t experienced. Exploring which to upgrade and craft and facing the consequences is part of the fun, and on normal difficulty the cost of a wrong decision does not ruin your entire playthrough. On normal I tried to be careful but still there were decisions I regretted later, even though the whole upgrading system was just like RE4. Of course you can open a bunch of articles to follow step by step for hardcore but it ruins the immersive experience, and you kinda need to tiptoe to avoid spoilers. Besides in the long run to make it easier for NG+ with higher difficulties you’ll need lei to upgrade weapons, and having to skip some mini bosses on hardcore will slow you down
This perspective is always hilarious to me; play on hard! Now here’s how to avoid fights and cheese bosses to get through hard! How does upping the difficulty make the game better if you then have to avoid gameplay to get through it.
Its a choice of the game pretty much playing itself(Standard) OR the game offering the SURVIVAL HORROR experience where killing every single enemy in the area is just not feasible and with that fact you are always on edge because you know its not safe. Cheesing bosses is a personal choice I've played through Hardcore fully and didn't do it once(1st playthrough so no infinite ammo or anything). We have been doing video games for 60+ years there is always a way to break the game, it goes without saying that a boss can't typically leave its designated area and enemies wont follow you forever.
@@aaronv4802 the game doesn’t play itself in standard, in fact you probably play more of the game by actually being to take full advantage of the combat system. I understand the point you’re trying to make but I’m more making a broad statement for example I see people posting about playing AC odyssey on hard. That game is largely combat and on hard encounters are so tedious you almost need to avoid them. I think some games benefit from hard mode and maybe this one does, but I think if you’re running away from encounters and cheesing bosses you should just bring it back to normal

For the intro sequence on hardcore you can barricade yourself inside one of the two houses and just shoot to interrupt the barricade breaking animation until the clock runs out. It's best to finish this strat in the second house so you can collect more ammo on the way.

GUYS IF YOURE STRUGGLING AT FIRST PART WITH HARDCORE DIFFICULTY. STAY IN THE LADDER FOR A FEW MINUTES
I'm playing on Hardcore.

there is a strategy i use everytime for the lycan attack and it works 9/10 ... you just have to make it to the basement of that first house quickly, and sit in the corner and wait it out, most times this will take you right to the arrow part, and maybe even when the big boy drops in, without any enemies coming down (if they do come down, quickly run to the opposite side of the basement and camp that corner, blasting the enemies as they come down (they cant enter via the hole in the wall, only the ladder)

1 more useful tip too is if you block at the right time from an arrow attack you will actually catch the arrow in your hands like a badass! Not to mention if it's an achievement
You find a cylinder upgrade for the magnum that completely refills the ammo to 7. That ammo refill is very important.

Personally id get infinite ammo for the WCX, its superior to the dragoon in every way

Besides in the long run to make it easier for NG+ with higher difficulties you’ll need lei to upgrade weapons, and having to skip some mini bosses on hardcore will slow you down
Theres only one thing to see on resident evil... *-Lady Alcina Dimitrescu-*
You can complete the game on Village of Shadows on a first try just make sure you get the hand cannon and be cautious with ammo
You can beat Urias in the first Lycan attack, there's a trophy/achievement for it
Thank you, very helpful!
