As a Lakeside Karting Race League, Ex-LK Mechanic and SWS driver I love this video, This might video may end up helping my next closest competitor in the future and get me some more competition. Some pretty fast laps and if consistent the drivers copying this will definately be up in some of the fastest drivers. Much respect to K Tips as he only done 3, 30 min sessions on this track building up to this video.

So these karts are slower than the old prokarts? Used to do 40 sec laps in 2011

Thanks! This was a very good guide, though every time I've went so far, it was fully booked and I could barely get a clean lap in without needing to overtake, but this will definitely help.
The last corner is especially tricky, and I've overtaken people there going for the early braking, and I swung in on the inside - sacrificing some time, but I could close the apex so they had to brake again.

got a 45.004 with the guide, massive help!
track was cold and a bit damp too but it was a lot of fun.
track was super greasy too, rained during quali and was right at the end of december, freezing temps. I'm sure i can eek the seconds with more practice, and better conditions. A kart champ (14 i think) who finished ahead of me in 1st had a 44.445 as a best, so its nice to know that im closing the gap in performance, slowly.

My first time I went to lakeside was yesterday, I got a lap time of 44.7, I did basically everything you’re saying but didn’t have enough time to nail all the corners, i kart basically once a week and this will be a track I got to often let’s see if I can get a faster lap time, cheers for the video mate

Love the use of brakes for rotating the kart.

Reviewing my session that day, I was on the line you describe by the end of the session but a bit scrappy. With some refinement I should get a good boost in time. The exception to this is the last corner/hairpin which I just can't seem to master. Looking at your video I have a very good reference and I shall practice the next time I go.

When you brake hard, do you steer the steering slightly to ensure correct rotation? Do you stamp very hard on the brake or just enough to get it rotated?

Yup, the harder you press the brakes the more the kart will rotate. Normally slight bit of steering is sufficient.
