My Dad & Mum had a mk7, split screen model, great memories and a wonderful old mate of mine restored a mk IX that had been owned by a bank manager & had been parked up in a garage for years, he made a stunningly beautiful job but sold it on for peanuts.

It needed two SU fuel pumps because the pump was notoriously unreliable - former Jaguar owner.

Agreed. The best iteration would be black walls of natural rubber with wire wheels. At 73, I can remember these cars from my youth.
