Hi Andrea. I had been researching precisely the information you gave in this video and was able to reach a similar conclusion. My conclusion was not concrete, so this video helped a great deal with that. Part of my research which may still not be totally answered, is whether one can buy a house in Canada while still living in South Africa. I am leaning towards, yes one can, but I am not totally sure. A unrelated question which you may or may not have the answer for, can one open a bank account in Canada while not living in Canada. Maybe the basics around banking in Canada could be a future video.
Thanks for this great video Andrea and Petrus. I have one more question to ask - do you get any benefits as a first time home buyer in Canada (if you have never owned your own property in SA or Canada)?
Karinda Ristic hello Karinda! There are benefits - you can get a land transfer tax rebate and benefits to your RRSP. Message me directly if you need the details on this! IG: Andrea.thevan
I have a question 🤔I want to move to Vancouver I was told the investment plan is supposed due to covid I want to move but I'm stuk I wanna buy this house before it gets removed from the market
Hi Rike. In Canada the Seller signs a Listing Agreement with the Listing or Seller's agent. In that Listing Agreement, the Seller agrees to pay the Listing/Seller's agent a commission (this can be negotiated) and also agrees to pay the Buyer's agent a set commission on successful conclusion of the sale. The commission the the seller is willing to offer the Buyer's agent is actually set out in writing on the Listing itself and visible to all buyer's agents.
What a great and informative vlog! One question, if I am purchasing a plot of land (just land only) as a foreign investor, do I still pay property tax?
Hi there! This is a great question. You will always pay general Land Transfer Tax (Ontario) on all land transfers. If you are referring to Non-Resident Speculation Tax, I propose you look at this very helpful government link where most of your more technical questions will be answered - www.fin.gov.on.ca/en/bulletins/nrst/#:~:text=The%20Non%E2%80%91Resident%20Speculation%20Tax%20(NRST)%20is%20a%2015,foreign%20entities)%20and%20taxable%20trustees.
Hi, I currently have a NQF 4 in property and write my NQF 5 exams in November 2020. I am about to have my qualifications verified but I’m im curious if the South African real estate licenses carry over to canada, or do we as estate agents have to do some kind of bridging course.
Andrea this is useful for Canadians too. Our system is not the easy to navigate. You do an amazing job at interviewing too
Thanks!!!!!
Andrea, you are beautiful! I saw your appearance on Dating Beyond Borders 🌹

Who is paying the sellers agent? Is the agent working on a fixed commission or is that negotiable? Very interesting chat

Wow. Thanx. I wish to know if there is a market in buying to rent out?
Hi Johan, there are certain areas and property types that would do better than others. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Do you think over-billing exists like with Cit Of Joburg ?
There are definitely areas in Canada that more expensive than others.
Why are you guys sitting so close to one another during times of covid is the real question that ought to be answered.
