  • The Convocation Ceremonies of the 2016/2017 academic session commenced in grand style today, 8th May, 2018.
    Please join us in acknowledging some of the young and bright minds that the University of Lagos has produced in recent times.
    • Dr. Hallowed Oluwadara Olaoluwa: the youngest PhD awardee of the University, Nigeria and Africa as at 2017. He was awarded a PhD degree in Mathematics at the age of 24 in the year 2014. He has since done his Postdoc at Harvard and currently lectures at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, UNILAG, sowing seeds of excellence in younger generations.
    • Taiwo Bankole: one of the 2 best graduates of the 2015/2016 academic session, who scored a perfect score of 5.00 CGPA from the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics, Faculty of Science, UNILAG.
    • Emmanuel Osayande: the young man who made history by being the first 1st Class graduate in the history of the Department of History and Strategic Studies, Faculty of Arts, UNILAG.
    • Dr. Mutiat Bolanle Ibrahim: the Best Research Thesis awardee for the 2016/2017 academic session, from the Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, UNILAG. In her research, she was able to identify anti-cancer properties in a medicinal plant used by traditional medical practitioners in Nigeria.
    The 3 overall best graduating students with CGPA of 4.97 in first degree awards category:
    • Matthew Jeffrey Jude of the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science;
    • Babawale Oludare Emmanuel of Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, and
    • Roy-Layinde Bosun Abbas of the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering.

    Governor Akinwunmi Ambode while delivering the Convocation Lecture earlier today, disclosed that he is the first alumni of the University of Lagos to occupy the office of the Executive Governor of Lagos State.
    We appreciate you, your Excellency sir for representing the school in good light.
    To our graduating students, undergraduates and postgraduates, we appreciate your efforts and we wish you the best in your good endeavours. Let's keep the flag of the University of Lagos flying high.
