Some neapolitan pop / melodic singers, despite using neapolitan language, reject to be tagged as 'neomelodici', also 'cos in Italy the hate against mob / mafia is EXTREMELY deep and strong, therefore people can't forgive the fact that a few neomelodici singers wrote pro camorra / mob songs. Musica neomelodica also had a peculiar retroactive effect, so that 90-95% of non-neapolitan italians under 40yo think that all the neapolitan music sucks, including traditional music and most 60s-70s evolutions!
