- I finally made it to the "Bourbon Mecca" that is Buffalo Trace Distillery. In this episode we tell the story of our trip out to Frankfort and our time on the Old Taylor Tour & Tasting. This is one of the most famous tours on the #KentuckyBourbonTrail, and for good reason.

Your tour guide was Lee. I have been to BT on tours over 25 times. I have taken them all, at least twice. OFC is Old Fired Copper. Warehouse C the brick warehouse is where they age Eagle Rare, EH Taylor . The cooper lined fermentation tank from E H Taylor is used. They were going to do more of the tanks, but the flooding made them stop. The tanks would be at different stages of fermentation, and if they had to pump them out because of flooding, they wouldn't have a place to put it. BT is a National Historic Landmark, so what they are allowed to do to any building is limited. They are still building about 5 new warehouses a year on recently purchased land next to the distillery. The Castle and Key Distillery was started by EH Taylor after him and George T Stagg split. It is also a beautiful Distillery and you will see the castle style architecture and the keyhole shaped fountain, so the name Castle and Key. BT owns the EH Taylor name but the Distillery is also on the National Historic Landmark list. So they got to keep the name on the building. History is cool.
Love your videos and channel! How can I get my hands on one of your future store picks?
Google earth the Buffalo trace plant. The new Wharehouse are just to the north on campus. You’ll see 13 new Wharehouse’s with 2 or 3 more in construction. I think I heard Harlan Wheatley say each holds 63k barrels.
Hey, next time you come down, if Wild Turkey is on the list, hit me up. I’d love to head over by them.
we had to of been there damn near the same time you were... the barrel counter is just a few thousand off from when we were there.
Great video! We have a tour booked in a few weeks
Your comment about where they are aging …they have a 288 acre farm across the river up on the hill where they have huge warehouses and are building more
Good video
Did you come visit us at blantons?
Drew, nice recap. Check out the Buffalo Trace UA-cam channel. They have some stuff on there about their expansion. A lot of their Rick houses are just past the main campus on a farm the bought.
Shoutout tater nation 😂
I’m getting married at buffalo trace this fall
SO they're making so much bourbon that you can't find it anywhere...
put that Hancocks (LB SP)1st in a super bowl blind flight against a ET Lee, Blantons and a John J Bowman
Book in advance. I have found that it is easiest to get a tour in November, December, and January.
Kids under 12 are welcomed. We took our daughter and she is 8. They will give the kids rootbeer and non-alcoholic chocolate.
You used "sick" 27 times. Congrats!
