There will never, ever again be anything like the Man Band. The classic four piece line up of Mickey (RIP), Roger (RIP), Martin and Terry had a musical performance relationship that can only be described as nothing less than telepathic. I can say this because I saw this particular line up (getting on for) 100 times in Britain and the continent over a period of about 2 years in the very early seventies and each performance of whichever tune they played while heavier than hell would always be different from the last time and would always end up perfectly, as it should, and yet they played like it was nothing! Breathtaking! Greatest band line-up I have ever seen or ever will. Long live Man.
Remember first hearing this on the budget “Live at the Padgett Rooms, Penarth” album. Must be around 50 years ago now & I’ve been a fan ever since. Great band, tight as a nun’s whatsit.
RIP Mickey Jones. Will never forget the magic. Have listened to Man since the 70's and they are still one of my favorite bands ever heard. Turned Dead Heads on to them in the 80's and they loved it along with Harvey Mandel's snake sound. Good stuff and thank you very much for keeping it going.
One of the bands that have accompanied me on my journey through life alongside Hawkwind and the Fairies. Fifty plus years of brilliance. Thank you for joining me through long nights and longer days. Hopefully posting this will introduce many more to them in the years to come...
What a band - this is probably the greatest man track in my opinion and this is a super-heavy rendition. This should be made compulsory viewing for any kid picking up a guitar or anyone into rock music in the first place. Unfortunately latter generations dont even know about this great band and i feel sorry for them for that.
Agree 100% in all ways ... probably their greatest track from their greatest album "Do You Like it Here and Now, Are You Settling in?". Closely followed by "Would the Christians Wait Five Minutes? The Lions Are Having a Draw" from the "Man" album.
@@dsig Must never forget the Greasy Truckers Party version of Spunk Rock which is beyond anything anyone has ever done. But you're dead right. been a fan for 52 years, seen em countless times and this particular track is THE definition of Heavy! Under the right circumstances, especially right next to the cabs at a live gig, this track is literally mind blowing! Scariest, heaviest thing I've ever heard.
Unglaublicher song! MAN sind dermaßen unterbewertet gewesen, all die Jahrzehnte. Prima, dass es UA-cam gibt! Ich hatte das Glück sie mehrfach sehen zu dürfen. Ruhe in Frieden Mickey, ich vermisse dich!
This is the first time I've even heard of this band and WOW. That was incredible. I can't believe this was in 1975. I was brought to this song by my favourite band, Boris, covering part of this song in the middle of one of their own songs on a rare EP they released in 2016. This is crazy good
Man are The Welsh version of The Grateful dead. And every time I listen to an old lp by them,(back into the future, whinos etc.) I am surprised that it took me 35yrs to discover them
Saw Man perform this tune a few times at the Cartoon Club in Coyden in the late 80s and early 90s. Despite the big stadium concerts by mega rock gods that I also went to, I remember those low key gigs by Man as being among the best I ever went to.
My old band supported them once. Unforgettable experience because I was a fuckin huuuuge fan. Still am. Monster track. The way they finish it is like witchcraft.
Saw them on a few occasions, I suppose that Stonehenge was the biggest venue, the rest were mostly small clubs and pubs that were on 'the circuit'. They always gave 110% and I was always left knowing that I had just witnessed a great band delivering a great performance. Dunno, just lucky I guess...........
Fantastic track, although I like the album version even better. Moreover, 'Do You Like It Here Now, Are You Settling In?' has 5 other superb parts (Angel Easy - All Good Clean Fun - We're Only Children - Manillo - Love Your Life) that are well worth to listen, too.

Hi. I've uploaded the full concert and it’s in much better quality to this video. Here is the link to the video: Man - Live German TV 1975 (Full Concert)

Fantastic live band. I saw them twice at Glasgow Appollo in the '70's. Still love this track.

Why oh why did this band never get the recognition they deserved on either side of The Pond?
Had a few albums in the charts in the u.k in the mid 1970s
Huge popularity in some places..
Did john Cippolina (Quicksilver) play with these around this time? I can hear the West Coast crossover :)
@@aka0709 he joined that year for many concerts and an album.
I always loved them from that foldout cover I believe that showed the city of man?
Top band, saw them several times at the Greyhound in Croydon in the mid seventies and again in a packed out pub in North London circa 1995
This band was big in early 70ies. and still are..
Just classic. Fantastic 😊
Man are The Welsh version of The Grateful dead. And every time I listen to an old lp by them,(back into the future, whinos etc.) I am surprised that it took me 35yrs to discover them
The jam kings of Wales, this takes me back to my youth. Always one of my favourite bands.
Saw this band dozens of times, with and without Deke in the line up. Must dig out the albums.
Best version of an epic track by my favourite Man line up. Many thanks.
Saw them back in the 70s fantastic band live
Agreed u saw them in the 90s @ the mean fiddler in london pure magical live, so glad I saw them when I did R I.P. SEKE LEONARD 🙏🏴🙏,🎸🥁🎙👌❤
There's simply no end to their innovations. Hardly recognised in so called mainstream, yet, MAN influenced so many mainstream bands...
This was the line-up of the band that I saw in the early 1970's in Leith Town Hall. Still my all time favorite track.
Just like yesterday....great post....love this band and spent most of my youth listening to them...so sad losing Mickey.

Whoa this is awesome!!!
One of thier best albums
Saw them at the Roundhouse in London in 75. Great show! Released as the LP 'Maximum Darkness.'
best live band of that period
Bazen ne güzel oluyorsun youtube sen. Warm greetings from Turkey!
Great stuff.
Wales’ Grateful Dead....also their Quicksilver Messenger Service...but above all Swansea’s psychedelic geniuses....vastly underrated
Nice post, still got this on vinyl.
saw them in "Bilzen" in 1974, also on the list were : Isotope,Alquin,Focus,Humble Pie,Mungo Jerry,Dave Greenslade,....... great concert ( i was 18 )
I still have an LP, Live at the Paget Rooms Penarth, somewhere in my collection. Must have another listen.
Stunning
This is a really tight set they judge the tempo switches to perfection.
fantastic
I want this at my funeral:
My old band supported them once. Unforgettable experience because I was a fuckin huuuuge fan. Still am. Monster track. The way they finish it is like witchcraft.
The greatest Welch band
awesome
R.I.P. Deke Leonard.
Was Deke the first guy to paint concentric circles on his guitars?
The best man line up
Saw them on a few occasions, I suppose that Stonehenge was the biggest venue, the rest were mostly small clubs and pubs that were on 'the circuit'. The actual title of the song intrigued me George, and then I took a listen and it was indeed fine ;)

Wow Mickey Jones doing what He does best. And in the comments I read things about the Grxxxful dxxxd. This is rock not your Dolly Parton country music

Awesome! Very King Crimson-esque in places. Just brilliant, does anyone know of any postings of live versions of Scotch Corner?
Vernon Allen I never thought of that, but there is a bit of Red era Crimson in there...
class

Great Welsh band from Merthyr TudfulGreat post!
Swansea...surely?

Wonder if this was before JC toured with them. Was the same year for sure.
Uncle Dave this was broadcast 17th april 1975 and I saw them with Cipollina at Newcastle 15th May 1975 - so it's just before.
Great tour indeed .Saw the Roundhouse gigs on two nights couldn't manage a third.
I was at one of those Roundhouse gigs with JC (also the Greasy Truckers in 72, and others), stunning stuff.
I saw them I meant
Where is the rest of this show, please?
