    Nice Review Anthony! They just launched here stateside this December. It's obviously packaged differently for the American market. No diesel options, some missing/different features also. We get a fast shifting wet dual clutch transmission with a 2.5 Turbo in the higher trims. This putts out 280Hp and 311 lbs/torque. It's that much quicker than the diesel option but fuel economy will take a hit. There are other options available too. A lower output non turbo 2.5 liter, a mild hybrid and a plug in hybrid to come later. Different interior leather color options here as well as an "x-line" version that has a lifted suspension giving an additional 1" of ground clearance a locking differential and a snow mode. It also has a more rugged exterior appearance package. We don't get memory seats, ambient lights and a couple of minor differences here and there. The big difference is the pricing between Ireland and USA. A fully loaded Sorento here is about $44,000. Nobody in their right mind would spend 55,000 Euro (67,000 Dollars) for a top end Sorento here! That's BMW X5 money here in the States!! It's a big upgrade over the previous generation and would appear to be a better value in the USA given its pricing.

    You are lucky to get the diesel and top spec. In the UK we only get the diesel engine on the mid spec model which doesn't have the blind spot dash pictures or, more importantly, memory for the driver's seat. All other models are only available with the petrol hybrid. I've actually ordered one.

    Great review - honnest, relax, covering all components with enough detail. I tested the PHEV model and it is really quite, powerfull, comfortable and spacious. Lucky there is 360 camera as there is no Automatic Parking Assistance. Can't understand the reason for. The diesel has a funky remote parking assist (moving car while outisde of the car) which only allow parking in tight spot but no parallel/perpendicular parking avbl. why not a mistery.... Also Remote parking assist is only avbl on Diesel . Why no clue.... .My choice is made if my company allows it :-)

    For the money it’s a shame that there is no heads up display and nappa leather like in the UK. Have ordered one at 62K so would expect nappa leather and memory seats on the K4

    The best rivals are the Discovery Sport and Volvo XC90. Both seven seat SUV's similar in size and specification. I'm changing a 2017 XC90 for a Sorento and looking forward to delivery before Christmas.

      What is wrong with XC90? I'm thinking of getting the XC90 2017 or new Sorento

    • @hedydd2
      @hedydd2 3 роки тому

      @@YalokIy
      The XC90 is an excellent car. I loved it, but the end of lease coincided with Covid, so rather than buy it out the family decided we could do with one car less for a while. I had the D5 diesel Inscription with Polestar upgrade. The only mechanical issue I had with it was the well known one of the Power Pulse air pipe bursting. This doesn't leave you stranded if it happens. I did have one software bug early on where the mapping went haywire, but it was sorted by an update in the first three months from new. The new owner of mine has an excellent vehicle.
      The Kia is better in some ways. It can be bought new for only £6k more than the chap paid for my three year old but immaculate XC90 and has all the safety kit plus even more room inside, certainly in the first and second rows. Apple CarPlay standard. Eight USB points rather than one. The diesel '3' model Sorento diesel does not have driver's seat memory, head up display of pano roof though. It does have heated windscreen, heated steering wheel and everything else including a 'pilot assist' system and all the other safety gizmos. Only. reversing camera not surround. All that stuff is standard on the petrol '4' model, which costs quite a bit more. Clincher for me and considering everything else balanced out with the XC90, including performance, was the low business contract hire price which, even counting the deposit, averaged out, comes to £16/day or just over the price of one packet of 20 cigarettes in the UK. This works out to be nearly £20,000 cheaper 'for me' than a new XC90 over three years. An amazing saving for a totally equivalent new car.
      With a contract hire I do not have the option to buy at the end of contract, but not with contract hire, which is no great shakes as I could buy it or anything at auction or dealer if minded to.

    This is just an American “medium size” SUV. Like you said, i think a 55k Kodiaq is up against the top spec Sorrento and I just don’t see many ppl in the market for a 55k Kia? Kodiaq probably starts around 35k these days. Think the review could be shorter but I like the casual fun style 👍

      .... or buy a Kia Sorento - it's better, has more technology, more security, more features, a fair price and a 7-year guarantee.

    • @stuartmchugh1754
      @stuartmchugh1754 3 роки тому +2

      @@haraldschon2485 you’re missing my point. I haven’t gotten bogged down in a spec list but no doubt the Kodiaq will feel better to drive and can be had with reasonable spec for 40k. 55k is a weird price because it’s above the competition but slightly below the premium. New you have - Kodiaq, 5008, Tiguan Allspace and Tarraco. Cash buyers might look at a used Q7, XC90 or Disco. Serious competition and I don’t think the Kia brand can play with the big boys.
      Worth noting, the Sorrento is $26,990 plus tax in the US!

      @@stuartmchugh1754 If you compare the Skoda Kodiak with a similar engine power and equipment, the Skoda is significantly more expensive (approx. € 5,000). Despite inferior equipment, less space, smaller trunk, less performance, Skoda does not get all the features that are standard in the KIA. Not to mention the guarantee.

      @haraldschon2485 3 роки тому

      @@stuartmchugh1754 Why are cars cheaper in the US than in Europe?
      On the one hand, this is due to the exchange rate, and on the other hand, because European car buyers are also willing to pay the prices It's different in the USA. For the market there, the prices, as they would be charged here, are too high because the Americans sell their US-made cars much cheaper.
