From the videos I've seen of this concert - thanks to MotorCityCanuck - this may very well have been the best Hip concert ever. Gord's singing is very controlled and on point. Simply brilliant. I hope there are more videos to come!
I have the entire show from this tour in Detroit in July on my channel. I got to direct the house feed for the video walls. 4 cameras and audio feed straight from FoH board. Best pure rock band I have ever seen.
sorry mean no insult but Humanity strong there will never be a replacement for sir Gordon Downey God bless the band but but love the man who brought Canadian history and lore back to the dinner table RIP gordie
Had 3rd row seats for this show, great stuff, the only time I've left a hip show disappointing is if the didn't play Nautical disaster, they're just as popular in western New York as Canada,
@@cutchopweld5717 true, but in western NY, there pretty popular, I'm in Niagara Falls, so I've spent countless hours in Canada, maybe a bit too many at dance clubs that are closed now, which I'm sure those guys visited back in the day, it was all in good fun.
@@janspup6232 ha that's funny. I actually met a few guys from Ny state in the strip clubs in Niagara. (20 + years ago now). The US guys really enjoyed the strip joints on this side.

@@colins7771 This is incredible that I am talking to you! So cool. You're like a celebrity in my books lol! I am in Saint John NB and play in a Hip Tribute band called Artificially Hip. If there is ANYWAY possible to get a guitar pick from your Dad for our bass player or an autographed picture that would kick ass! Of course I would pay shipping.
I have a video from the 2000 tour from Detroit where Kate sang backing vocals. While she was good, I don't ever want to see the Hip pull a Queen. Enjoy the wonderful memories we have. Many of them live on UA-cam, including the show I mentioned. By the way...I got to direct the house video for that show I mentioned. One of my best memories ever. Sadly, my upload is blocked in Canada.
Wow - Kate looks really uncomfortable here. Adding her and Chris Brown (the OTHER Chris Brown!) was a cool idea. Nice to change things up once in awhile.

The best version of this song on UA-cam
Sure is. I was at this show as well.
Best version I think is Live Between Us

One of my personal favorites off Road Apples, this song and Fight.
One of my favs by these cats
How does this sound so good? Looks like it's recorded from the audience, how is it all not blown out?
Man Gord was so frickin cool
Not just cool. Tragically Hip.

They aren't as popular anywhere in the world as much as they are in Canada. If there was a national band they were it!

Never heard a banana sound so good.
I can only go for so long. Then I have to listen to the hip. It makes me happy. I really fucking mean that.
you are RIGHT
These kingstonians, there is something to say and cherish ❤
"cannibals are saving all the bones for soup"..... i just love that line
Not to be argumentative Tom McNally... The piano is absolutely mesmerizing... totally captures the mood... very haunting
Douglas Hegle brilliant
You mean the organ? If so, yes, I agree.
The golden rim motel is gone but Gord lives for ever.
love this song, killer bass line.
the bassist is my dad \m/

Is this channel still active? More videos to post? These are pretty awesome.
Oh my f*ck... this is interstellar, interdimensional prowess
Could the Hip live again with Kate Fenner? Maybe Gord would like it.
Agree the keys make this the best version along with Bobby's playing. Only wish the jam had gone on longer.

Check out Flamenco at Fillmore, she kills it.

What's with the 🍌?
He's just a man down on his luck, so he takes to the streets shaking a banana at people trying to convince them it's making a sound.

uhm... I am pretty sure that is Gord's now wife and mother of children as the blonde back up singer
Really? shes in all these vids from their 2000 tour on music at work
I was mistaken.
It is Kate Fenner. They look very similar.
tom mamaux I don’t think it is , I think her name is Kate Fenner . There is an awesome version of Flamenco that she sings on .
that version of flamenco is great. yawning or snarling even better.... her throaty rendition of "and the music is just sooooo damn loud"
No. His wife’s name was Laura. (My husband went to HS w her in the GTA.)
Keyboard player is bad. And I LOVE the Hip.
Back up singer doesn’t look like she’s having a whole lotta fun…
