Strangely enough, when I first tried ChatGPT, this is *exactly* the script I tried to get it to make, and for the most part it succeeded. However, I then tried asking it for a somewhat more complex script - I asked it to write me a script that accepts a list of objects, checks whether any of them are instances or references, and outputs a selection that has only a single instance form any group of instances and no reference objects. The result was that it just made up non-existent maxscript commands or classes that "did" this but of course did not work in the real world.
So... unless you already know what works and what doesn't, you might wrestle with an imaginary set of commands that will not work at all.

Do you know how to ask chat GPT to create script which put quickly Arnold Dome light on the scene with specific hdri map? I asked a couple of times and there are bugs all the time :/
I haven't had any luck with max scripting made by gpt. The syntax is off.
I tried a few scripts but none of them worked at all.

chatGPT isn't good at maxscript. Sometime it give me the python code instead of maxscript. I guess maxscript isn't a very popular language, openAI doesn't have enough data to train chatGPT. My suggestion is you should learn maxscript, ask chatGPT to generate maxscript code then review the code yourself. Or let's wait for chatGPT to get better. chatGPT is growing fast. I believe in the next 1 or 2 years, it'll do a lot more better

@@3dcopilot Can it do really better in maxscript, IF all available maxscript data (text all over the internet), has been already (i assume, or lets assume) provided to the program to teach it... It need "learning data" (i dont know the correct term, training data...?) if all (on the internet) training data for maxscript has already been "crawled through" by chat GPT, than it cannot get any better because he doesnt have any more (new) specific data (maxscript in this example)... So you would need to provide NEW maxscript data to train the program to get better at maxscript, correct? And if all existing maxscript data has been already provided to it (lets assume it is so), than it cannot get better...? Possible new data would come from users trying to generate maxscript through chat GPT and when it fails, the users will tell the program where it failed, so it can learn...

But it NEED more, new data (maxscript) related to get better... It cannot get better by itself just by virtually making and testing maxscript on its own...?
@@3dcopilot yes! That's what I do. I know how to write max script, I was just testing GPT. However I use it, is a good help anyaws.

Hey there I see you know your way around maxscripting and you're making small but very vital syntax adjustments to chatgpt's output. Could you please make a video explaining the general structure of a script in 3dsmax. If it's too much info to cover on one video maybe doing a video only oriented to adjust chat gpt output is possible?
I've been trying to make a script the whole day (max 2021) but chatgpt keeps making the same syntax errors even in the simplest instructions, probably is my fault but still hoped to get a code that can be copy/paste in the ms file and will work haha

Will that role play have any real incidence in its objectivity and performance? I think its AI engine is impartial and fully objective per se. Did you really experienced any difference when applying that role play?
From my experience, role play will help chatGPT provide more precise answers. You should join the openAI discord server. You'll find a lot of interesting prompt that use role play. Try it yourself and have fun 😊

I had a issue within have a dropbox with the name of a file with extension .bip, in a folder inside scripts folder, and when we select, we print the path. I literally wasnt founding NOTHING in the forums about that, and chatgpt helped me to do it in 3 minutes and with only 3 attempts.
I've noticed that its better do step by step prompt than ask he create the script directly.

Last week I created a Script that removed all modifiers from all selected objects with chat gpt, took a couple of attempts but it worked at last

You can try to copy-paste the error and ask chatGPT to fix it (it works sometimes)

Right now ChatGPT 3.5 and 4 are pretty bad with maxscript. ChatGPT 6 might be a pro though
