The game is based on 16th Century Chinese Novel called 'Journey To The West', which inspired a lot of anime/ manga & movies today...for example the Late Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball.
to make it short, this is the theme song of the 1986 version TV seriies Journey to the West shot by China Centeral TeleVisoin, after the year 1986 in which it was first broadcasted, it were repeated played on the TV channel every summer break in the consecutive years, even up to now, so basically, from the generation 1970s, to 2010s, this TV series and together with this theme song, is the memory of every Chinese child

If you want context on the story, I'd recommend watching the 1986 CCTV Journey to the West show, it's free on youtube with English subtitles It definitely helps with understanding the story of the game, since the game assumes you're already familiar with the story of Journey to the West
Not really, it was a lot of people's childhood memory of course, it was THE most interesting show when I was kid too, but I don't think that show would be equally appealing to the 1st time audience of 2024. In general, the whole production was way too backwards for today's standard, mainly due to the budget and technological limit of China back then, also it wasn't really 100% representing the vibe and depth of the original novel Journey to the West either, it is some nostalgic fun for sure, but not really serious reference in anyway.
@@manchumuq its production is dated, but still enjoyable and comprehensible; and it's still one of the most faithful to the original story. I personally grew up with the 2000s animation Legend of the Monkey King, but that version changes a lot of the stories in weird ways and ultimately most adaptations that have been made more recently also tend to add a lot of their own "flavour" that strays from the original story
@@manchumuq I am rewatching the whole thing with my child and it is still enjoyable. Especially the conversation and scripting, it is very no nonsense and I am enjoying the squabbling among the team.
the original is this version: ua-cam.com/video/biTzhToldz4/v-deo.htmlsi=7wVfIuf3MBP4zi4y it was created in 1980S. I think most of chinese will prefer the original😆
