- We catch up with Zlat and take a look over his very well presented street Ford Barra powered left hand drive Mustang whilst it was having the wick turned up at Tunnel Vision. The car has come up a treat thoroughly built front to back with recent changes including a built 4.0L engine by Tunnel Vision and a larger Garrett G42-1450 turbocharger.

Yeah, it's a Ford of Australia exclusive 4.0L/6cyl engine. They can be sent to the states, but parts here for them are almost non existent.

What exactly does engineered mean?
It means it has been certified by an engineer to be street legal and safe. As well as being certified by department of transport that the modifications are safe and legal.

@@venomsixxx Depends on the modifications and the engineer. Some will charge you a lot depending on the mods and if they want to fleece you.

Theres a couple 1st gen stangs already in the states with barras, 1 has been running with an 80mm turbo for a couple months now.
I wish Ford would have given us the Barra here in the states. You Aussies are lucky.
The speedo was going up pretty quick. Super responsive on the street drive geezus.

Where have they ever said they hate Barra’s? All they said is it sounds a bit shit and people talking them up like they’re the number one engine in this world, get 1000hp and 8sec for only 2k. Even as a Ford man I agree with there points. But yeah you must be right that they hate Barra’s that much that have a project where they Barra swap a Commodore and see how fast they can make it

Putting a cage in it would really ruin the finish of this "street" car but it is kinda a necessity of 1200hp track use

Impossible for a stock barra to do 9's full stop, unless the auto and diff gears are set up for the 1/4 mile and plus the weight is so much less than a FG falcon, maybe at least 300KG less?
These are much lighter than an FG.
4:25 onwards he tells you it has a custom rear end , 275 tyres and a 2 speed power glide .

Probably the same guy who took one look at the rest of the car.
This car normally fills from the factory filler neck. Filler hose was removed while being worked on.

This is why the Australian Ford Company was the best in the world, why Ford America are a mob of dickheads, our Barra 6 should have been in the current Mustang , then they could've made the Coyote V8 into the motor it should have been for the Mustang.

Lots of 65-66 6 cylinder coupes to be had for not outrageous pricing. I've seen clean cars here in California for under $5K. You can put a Barra in it. I don't know what the duty fees and all that are but a few exist here in the States.
I would love to have a barra fastback mustang, but barra engines and parts are pretty hard to get in the U.S. Beautiful car and and the power is bonkers. Great build.

1 question I put a 351 in my 66 fastback and to get it engineered I heard I would have to get rid of the lap sash seat belts. (Aswell as a couple other things like disc brake front end which I have) Did you change your seat belts?
Yes, this wasn't using Lap Sash belts.
If you put a rollcage in would it still be able to be engineered for the street? It is amazing how far you can push the barra. I have a stock bf wagon and the other day I was towing a trailer of car parts, going up some of the hills on the way to melb I was struggling to stay at 100kmh haha. How much power is a stock na barra like 200hp, this one is 1200hp and it looks like it is still going to be pretty reliable. That is pretty insane.
I think stock BF is 180kw at the crank?

Is the engine mounted slightly more to one side or is it the camera angles? Closer to the left hand side (driver's side for lhd).
Not hating on it . Just an observation.
The Barra head is a cheap slap together job 1 cam is off to 2 side.if you know Barras like Australia do.there cheap shit with a online rep only.money pits.
