'From strong evidence to what makes psychotherapy work' by Prof. Bruce Wampold and Belgian experts

- Increasingly, psychotherapy theory and research has focused on how common factors and the specific ingredients (referring to empirically supported treatments) work together to produce the benefits of therapy. Much of this research shows that the common factors do their work differently in different therapies- but clearly, both the common factors and the specific ingredients need to be integrated.
A keynote by Prof Bruce Wampold addressed this issue as well as the important question ‘what exactly is evidence based psychotherapeutic practice’?
After the keynote lecture, a discussion was fueled by an expert panel with Belgian experts: Prof. Reitske Meganck (Ghent University), Prof. Inez Germeys (KU Leuven), Prof. Elke Van Hoof (VUB) & Prof. Carole Fantini (ULB).
First of all thank you very much for making this available to the public.
What’s stunning is that all the points raised by the Belgian experts have been answered by Wampold, Miller or others elsewhere . The experts clearly are not familiar with Wampolds work. I mean, how can you invite such a luminary of the field and not prepare yourself to the bone? I’m sad for Bruce. I hope he reads this post. Bruce, I read and listen to every single sentence you provide either through publications or through videos. Your work is highly valued!
Agreed. The second half became painful to watch. It surprises me that the people on the panel were so unfamiliar with research in psychotherapy.
He was selected because he's a salesman. Disappointed 😞
@@kirstinstrand6292 Bruce Wampold a salesman? And what does he try to sell? He’s an advocate of science in my opinion.
Hi bro can i ask a question
@@valiz_sw7858 sure!
Interesting thoughts, the psychodynamic community has some great points but I believe they are so focused on their supervision / personal work model. I agree that is one path for growth not only as a clinician but as an individual. But there are other routes, you are always changing and reshaping views with each clients interaction. Being flexible and coming back to those common factors allows for one to make the growth that you may find in personal dynamic work. We need to break from the tradition that one needs this rigorous dynamic training/fellowship to be a great clinician.
Only one speaker???😮
46:19 what is that word? lmao
