    The most impressive thing about this helmet is that his hair still looks club ready after putting 3 of them on 😳

    Hey I am curious what the differnce between enduro 4.0, 3.0, and 2.0? Is there any tech/weight/protection differnce?

  • @SkiRidesMTB
    @SkiRidesMTB Рік тому +15

    I truly do not and never will understand 3/4 helmets. Any riding that requires that extra protection would be a full face protection ride. I care way more about my teeth than my ears in a crash.

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Рік тому +7

      Yeah, we don't disagree with you there...We've definitely hit our faces more than our ears too. But maybe it's more of a fashion thing? We do think 3/4 lids look cool, although, if we're gonna have the extra weight and heat, may as well keep them teeth safe! But, to each their own!

    • @bermchasin
      @bermchasin Рік тому +1

      it isnt just about ear protection, it can help with helmet wobble/retension and if you hit from the side some ear protection can actually protect your face a bit.

      If you ride where there are tight trails where sticks and branches can catch your ears, they make total sense.

      I agree, definitely seems like fashion. Althought, in Utah it can get pretty cold so maybe having some ear covers would be nice on the occasional brisk ride! @@TheLoamWolf

      It's been a while since your comment so sorry for digging this one up. One thing I consider 3/4 helmet is for winter riding, it will definitely help keep your ears warm!

    I don't see this helmet on Virginia techs helmet testing site. Is it going to be tested by them?

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Рік тому +5

      We will reach out to Leatt and get an official response. We are huge proponents of helmet's being sent there to get a more standardized rating system in place for consumers. SO, please stand by.

      I will have to find and read that interview.
      I will say, one of the reasons Virginia tech's testing is so nice for consumers is that you can directly compare helmets in terms of a specific safety test. While no one test is perfect, it enables a consumer to make an informed decision.
      By testing in house, even using the same protocol, and not sending a helmet to be tested, it removes a very nice level of transparency.
      Unfortunately if you dig into helmet safety standards, you will learn that many of the certifications are much less than ideal. And all you need to do to get certified is barely pass... As a consumer without VT's testing how are we to know which helmet is the most likely to protect you in a crash?

    • @bike314
      @bike314 Рік тому

      @@dragonkrys672
      I watched the interview. He brought up some interesting points about the VT test method. I would love to see testing methods be improved to be closer to real world crashes. I then went to read the white paper. It's one from 2018 which compares a different helmet with their tech to a low 4 star rated helmet by Virginia tech, and it shows it's better.
      They didn't release any more testing information for this new helmet. He just says that the new helmet performs better without releasing any data showing it.
      I want to be able to compare two helmets in terms of safety without just comparing their marketing. I wear a helmet to protect my head. I want to have some data showing the helmet I'm wearing is one of the safest in comparison to many other helmets on the market.

    Thanks Drew…I ended up ordering the 3.0 but what I am finding is that the Med fits my head but it is actually painful to get it past the ears in full face mode…..it seems fairly narrow. Unfortunately there is nowhere here in NJ to actually try on a 4.0. My question is the 4.0 wider? Have you experienced anything like I am describing? Thanks again!!!

    I see they sell a 2 in 1 for $80 less. Like other have commented, if I’m already wearing ear protection because I feel like I need it I’m going full face. So I think the Enduro 2.0 would probably do everything I need. Good review, love your content!

      It is safer as people tend to turn their head and impact from the side but that's just anecdotal evidence from what I see at work in an ER. Those side impacts don't seem to be as catastrophic as knocking all your teeth out. I wear a full face most if the time

      This 3.0 has ASTM F1952-10, whatever that means. The Enduro 2.0 does not. Maybe a cool video idea would be explaining what all those certifications mean?

    • @bermchasin
      @bermchasin Рік тому

      I had last years Enduro 3.0 and it was great until I took a nasty crash (video on my shorts), I ended up replacing it with the 2.0 since it was a good bit cheaper. The 2.0 is super light in comparison.

    • @NerdsonDirtMTB
      @NerdsonDirtMTB Рік тому +2

      We have been running them for about 3 weeks now, the Leatt is way lighter and a lot more airy, also does not have that creaking sound that Bells do. We both are coming off Bell Super DHs, the super DH needs an update really.

    • @kyleyates8172
      @kyleyates8172 Рік тому +1

      I don't like Bell helmets very much myself, they're always heavier and don't seem to fit me as well as any other brand I've tried. Fox makes some good stuff, I'm running something from Scott rn and really like it plus it's budget friendly, and a lot of people in my area like leatt but I've never worn one. Bell helmets just always made me feel like I'm less safe that the others, they creak and stuff

  • @iffy_too4289

    I would really like to see you put some muscle into trying to rip off the chin guard to see how it fares. A good front-on and downward smash on the ground as well please while you're at it. I don't want to be testing that while riding if I buy it - and I am definitely a prospective customer as I currently own a Bell Super 3R, I know that its good and solid, but would like a new 2-in-1 helmet.

    Don’t get the 3/4 helmet. What makes the helmet hotter is the ear covers, so if you’re going to have ear covering might as well have the full face because not any hotter and much safer.

      Shouldn't be much longer now until they mark the '23 models on sale. If you don't mind not having the 3/4 ear pieces, the Enduro 4.0 is on sale and that helmet gives you the option of full face and half shell.

    Hey Drew..thanks for the overview. I am in the market for a new lid as I just got my first E-Bike (Turbo Levo Pro…partly based on your reviews and thoughts) and was wondering what you thought about the the LEATT 4.0 ENDURO MTB vs this new ENDURO MTB 3.0 you just unboxed? They still show both. I realize the 4.0 does do the 3-1 thing…just 2-1. Not sure that’s a factor for my use which honestly isn’t hardcore DH, but can include some pretty fast stuff…especially on an E-Bike. Anyway…thanks!

    • @TheLoamWolf
      @TheLoamWolf  Рік тому +1

      Hey thanks Paul. Congrats on the new bike and hope you enjoy it!
      On the helmets, the ear protection “mode” is neat but not for everyone. If possible trying on both helmets would be best but if not, the 4.0 is a good helmet. I like the 3.0 a lot though and how stiff/sturdy it feels in full face mode.

    I think it would be good, if you´d mention where the stuff you are reviewing has been produced. I think a lot of potential customers would rather purchase items which are not made in China, if they have a choice of two or more products they take into consideration. Here, for instance, this helmet was top of my list until I saw it is made in China. That makes me check the other two on my list first, in case they are produced somewhere else. Apart from that, nice vid.
