Heneral Luna was the first Filipino movie I actually saw in the theaters. I'm a half Japanese half Filipino college student and our Humanities professor made us watch this movie. I felt that this movie was going to be boring af but I was completely wrong. The whole movie was filled with comedies and actions and I enjoyed it. Filipinos should watch more movies like this. Not like those nonsense "hugot" bullcraps.

Sir this film has really inspired us. My faith in the Philippine cinema is restored. May other directors pick this up as a message that Filipinos want more than just romantic comedies. All the praise for Heneral Luna and I hope that you push through this trilogy. My schoolmates and I cannot wait for the continuation. I was able to watch it yesterday! sa sm manila po, 4 cinemas po siya. All time slots were full and most of the viewers were students (though maybe some of them were required to watch, but still).Then after the movie, lahat ng tao pumalakpak! Pwede niyo na pong sabihin sa sarili nyo na "mission accomplished" kasi mukha namang nagembark sa mga kabataan ang nais niyong iparating! congratulations!!! :D

This is one of the few Filipino films I've watched in this age that I feel very proud of. Sana mag.iba naman ang trend ng Filipino movies, di lang puro "kabet" ang mainstream theme na nagblo-blockbuster pa eh pbalik2 lang naman ang plot. Natatanging pelikula sa makabagong panahon na nagtataglay ng detalyadong impormasyon ukol sa mga buhay ng mga bayani man o simpleng sundalo na nagbuwis ng buhay para maiguhit sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas. I watched this film on its first weekend run and again on it's 2nd week. What made it successful was the fact that it drew us in (bait us even) with contemporary dialogues and humor. By the second half of the film, we were invested in Luna's character that we were ready to absorb the true message of the film. Kudos to the filmmakers. I expect the same in Del Pilar's film. To fully appreciate the hero of Tirad Pass, we have to understand his journey. And it's certainly not boring.

Hindi ko akalain na may sense of humour pala itong movie na ito, Hindi ako na-bore. anyway sir Jerrold congrats sa movie mo. maganda, sana gumawa po kayo ng pre-sequel kung saan pinapatay ni President Emilio aguinaldo si Andres bonifacio.
Luna knows how to vision, while Emilio knows the gains and loses. I see it now. The pride of the past. The trauma of losing power. And lastly, the insults given from the foreigners. Emilio got all these and he let them get to him. He's not just corrupt, he's also plain insane.

Heneral Luna was the first Filipino movie I actually saw in the theaters. I'm a half Japanese half Filipino college student and our Humanities professor made us watch this movie. I felt that this movie was going to be boring af but I was completely wrong. The whole movie was filled with comedies and actions and I enjoyed it. Filipinos should watch more movies like this. Not like those nonsense "hugot" bullcraps.

just watched the movie. nagulat ako sa palakpakan ng mga tao. napapalakpak din ako :D Hands down to the director,casts, behind the project lahat at sa nagdonate ng P70M para dito, grabe. bayad na sa karangalan pa lang. sa hagdan na po ako nakaupo for 1 hr dumating ako sa Cinema 3 ng Robinsons Lipa sakto sa time, standing na daw. Irefund ko na lang daw sabi ng guard ticket ko, but I said no. Itutuloy ko to. I found people nakasalampak sa sahig, kanya kanyang pwesto, walang pake basta makapanuod lang :D

just saying, with the unexpected fame and popularity that earns of Henera Luna, hopefully, very hopefully, na hindi pakikialaman ng kung anu ano na sikat na production ang susunod na Gregorio del Pilar at Manuel Quezon trilogy. I want to expect na kasing humble, kasing objective at kasing epic (with the great casting and cinematography) ng heneral luna ang mga susunod and it will be granted if none of the famous production ang makikialam. :) And what they earn is really deserving

I was able to watch it yesterday! sa sm manila po, 4 cinemas po siya. All time slots were full and most of the viewers were students (though maybe some of them were required to watch, but still).Then after the movie, lahat ng tao pumalakpak! Pwede niyo na pong sabihin sa sarili nyo na "mission accomplished" kasi mukha namang nagembark sa mga kabataan ang nais niyong iparating! congratulations!!! :D

This is one of the few Filipino films I've watched in this age that I feel very proud of. Sana mag.iba naman ang trend ng Filipino movies, di lang puro "kabet" ang mainstream theme na nagblo-blockbuster pa eh pbalik2 lang naman ang plot. Finally! A Filipino movie worth watching! The effects are not half-assed! They really went to other places to shoot and not just have a bunch of fake trees and plans all around the set.

I watched this film on its first weekend run and again on it's 2nd week. What made it successful was the fact that it drew us in (bait us even) with contemporary dialogues and humor. By the second half of the film, we were invested in Luna's character that we were ready to absorb the true message of the film. Kudos to the filmmakers. I expect the same in Del Pilar's film. To fully appreciate the hero of Tirad Pass, we have to understand his journey. And it's certainly not boring.

Hindi ko akalain na may sense of humour pala itong movie na ito, Hindi ako na-bore. anyway sir Jerrold congrats sa movie mo. maganda, sana gumawa po kayo ng pre-sequel kung saan pinapatay ni President Emilio aguinaldo si Andres bonifacio.
