  • Join us on a New Year Adventure to a local camp area located in the beautiful Okanagan Valley. This trip we wanted to get out and enjoy the fresh winter air, enjoy a fire, and test out the capability of our rig with a lower tire PSI. The Jeep worked amazing until the last part of the trip where our worst nightmares came to life (19:10).

Having a strong community is very important. You want to be able to express your concerns, ask for help and get constructive feedback. A part of the fun and excitement is not knowing what direction the channel is going. Take new roads, try new things and wherever you end up, it was meant to be to be.

Great video, definitely gets scary hitting ice. Wesco has great prices on tire chains, makes a world of difference 😉

That was so scary to watch... I felt fully tense for you on those roads. Glad you got down safe. ❤

The view with the fire and the snow was such a vibe. Felt like I was hanging out with you guys up there. Great advice about getting out doors to help the mental health and out look on life. Gosh though I’m glad you guys made it down safe! The going back down part was scary!! Goood job!

Ya it was a good trip. Ice can be scary. But rule one is always stay calm.

If your Jeep has Hill Descent Control that would probably be the best way to go. The computer controls the speed of each wheel independently based on the wheel speed sensors and using the ABS system to apply brakes to each wheel as needed to keep them all turning at the same rate. It's like having 4 brake pedals. When using it you must be in 4Low and keep your feet off of both pedals and control the speed with your shift lever. WAY more control than just using engine braking. Seriously, play with it when you get a chance. It's a great tool and skill to have. Some people call it nearly miraculous on slippery descents. I believe it works in reverse too.

@@TrueNorthOkanagan You're welcome. You control the descent speed by left-right shifting with the gear selector, just like you normally would use it to select a specific gear. And just like with gears, to go back to automatic, hold the shifter to the right for a few seconds. Hill Descent Control is a very useful feature. 🙂

Wholly crow that bridge had a drop to it, hey?! Whatever, it's ONLY about Fire Lookouts hahaha. I am super brand new to this as well. just finished my camper shell build (Posted the video yesterday) and I'd love to start exploring the FSRs. Is that what most FSRs around here (North Okanagan) look like? My stock Sierra 1500 would not do well on them if that is the case lol That descent was SKETCHY!! Glad you guys are ok.
Aside from that, what a beautiful day trip. We love popping out for a day trip to have a fire but we don't know of many places to do that around here. It is literally the best way to disconnect and reset.
Starting to get back into making UA-cam videos again with this camper build and having fun with it. Loving your content and this style of videos, please keep it up!!

Thank you for the support. Ya the winter roads definitely bring some challenges even for the modded rigs. Lol. There are some amazing places around here, and not all of the FSRs are this bad. This area is notorious for bad ice. Ill have to head over to your channel and see that build youre doing 😀

@@TrueNorthOkanagan Absolutely! Stoked to see more of your trips!
OK, that's good news! I'm glad there are some easier roads around here lol. I was going to try the one that links Mabel Lake to 3 valley hap but a few friends told my that's sketchy, especially in winter. Sssooo, going to wait on that one haha. I got a subscription to BRMB and have been plying around on it lookig up trails and forestry sites in the area.
That would be awesome, thank you 😊
