After completing their studies in 2013, Robert Špiler and Tjaša Štruc decided to build a little house on a forest clearing. In addition, they established a food garden and at the age of 22 began to live their simple life, hand in hand with the Mother Nature.
They combine Tjaša’s academic knowledge (MA in Biology and Ecology) and Robert’s practical work in the gardens throughout Slovenia.

I like this style of garden. Very neat and organized. Clean and manageable. My garden is quite chaotic. It is far too big so it's mostly wild and unkempt. It's hard not to try to fill the space when you have it so all the compost, instead of being focused on a small productivity area, is spread thinly everywhere... I am still testing everything out and sorting priorities which is why these videos really help a lot in figuring things out.
I appreciate you mentioning some of the challenges and setbacks as well. Every year is different, and every year there are some things that do great, and some that do poorly, and that is normal and natural. This definitely is a valuable resource, a great inspiration and motivation. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thank you, Lana! Starting small and being focused on a smaller area is better. When you manage it, you can easily expand. We also expanded this year (6 new beds and a greenhouse) and we feel we are able to manage it easily for now. Good luck and enjoy! :)

Wow what a food forest. You two are an inspiration on how to live life. You need some chickens, ducks, rabbits, bees and goats. One day I want to visit Slovenia, a country where almost every family has a garden. Here in the USA most people eat fast , processed foods and we are the fattest , sickest developed country in the world.

I actually liked the garden before the wooden garden beds. It showed that you don't have to have wood garden beds ($) to have a beautiful garden.

    Hey ☀︎
So first of all I want to thank you for your great video. It had lower my pulse from 83 to 70. ;) All this beautiful green and all the plants you give so much love and care.
I've got a question and maybe you can help me with that. My boyfriend and I moved to a new place. We now have a little garden and I was dreaming about having my own vegetables and fruits since I was a little kid. BUT the soil here is SO, SO BAD !!! It looks more like dusty grey sand. Water is running away and does not sink into it. I started to burry some tea from my breakfast and some cucumber leftovers in the ground, because there is no compost box here yet. I will soon have one, but I don't know how to manage this „soil“. Which is the best way to change it into good, healthy and plantfriendly one? I'm so sad about it. The people who lived here before us haven't cared about anything outside of the appartement. Everything was dead. I had to do so much work the last two weeks. Not even a single flower for bees or butterflies. It was more a dead ground with dead wood and common ivy. Nothing more.
Thank you so much for reading my comment and I'm sending you a big hug from Germany ♥︎

      Thank you Jana!
Well, we would choose the no dig method with a thick compost mulch, which you can also buy in bulk. You can start with 5 and up to 10 cm thick and your soil will recover and produce better plants. :)
This is all we have in English for you to help, more information are in our own native language: ua-cam.com/video/rfcES4o9Pmk/v-deo.html

Zdravo! Ravnokar sva nasla vajine posnetke. Navdusena sva nad vajinim vrtom, saj sva tudi midva letos zacela s svojim vrtickom. Probleme nama povzrocajo skodljivci - predvsem bolhe in usi na kapusnicah. Vec dni zapored sva poskusila s cajem iz pelina, a brez uspeha. Vajino zelje izgleda cudovito, zanima naju kako se boriti proti bolham in usem, ucinkovito in na naraven nacin? Hvala! :)

Hvala!
