Just bought a pair, and received them two days ago. Superb. They are just so right for my ears and my wallet. Great to hear your raving and interesting review. You've made me feel so good about my choice. Thank you, Kevin. Love your style and your passion.
Bought a pair of those Silver 300 along with a Silver C350 at the end of last year. I couldn't be happier, they are absolutely flawless to my ears. Good video btw! :)
As an owner of entry level Monitor Audio Bronze full 5 speaker set (around $1100 for 2x Bronze 6 Floorstanders + center channel + 2x Bronze 1- surrounds) their value for money is nothing short of amazing. Having heard their silver and gold series in both home cinema and hi-fi stereo setups they are truly amazing and well worth the money.
Have you heard the 500's in a home theater set up? I have a 7.2.4 and looking at upgrading my front stage just not sure if they would do well reviews are almost all with music in a 2ch set up
@@taxi615 i have heard them. But it is kinda pointless to have them for that specific reason. As in home theater environment they are basically just front effect channels. If you are not using a center then big front towers will make alot more sense as you can use them as a full front stage. Basically i heard little to no difference between 300 and 500 in home cinema situation. If you will be using them for home cinema and 2 channel music, then go for the 500 as they will have a bit more low end extension, though i could not hear a massive difference in high's and mid's. My recommendation for home cinema front stage upgrades - start with centre channel. That will give you the biggest improvement, unless you already own a very good one, or not using one at all. Hope it helps
@@Weecka2007 yes I do get what you mean but having a few different set up even if used as small speakers they do make a big difference at reference level. Not all the range is used but it is utilized. When I went from my entry level cambers to the B&W 603 a massive change happened and now looking for more as its been growing now my surrounds and atmos is turned down so they don't drown out my front stage ahahaha. Thanks for giving me your input much appreciated.
@@taxi615 i understand what you saying. And that is where it makes sense, going for different tier of speakers. (In your case going for B&W) I believe if you want to notice the difference in home cinema compare gold to silver (though price jump is quite big). Because comparing silver 300 to 500 in home cinema is pointless (in my oppinion). I would recommend 300 just because you will be using subwoofer and the extra bass you would get from 500 is wasted. As ranges utilize pretty much the same drivers, though usually having different sizes for bass driver, the sound will be more or less the same. You might have a slight difference in mids, but for movies it will barely(if at all) be noticeable. For 2 channel my recommendarion would be 500. As you would be utilizing what the extra driver size is giving. I went for bigger speakers in range just because on my 2 channel listening without a sub. I heard the lesser version, and it sounds very similar just with less bass. And to tell the truth i couldn't tell the difference in mids and highs even in 2 channel stereo... but every person is different, so i can only recommend based on my own experience. I mean some people hear difference between interconnects...
@@Weecka2007 good now that makes perfect sense well detailed and you are right 300 could be just enough for one type of use. Well thanks for giving your opinion on this :)
I just found two monitor audios lying around in my attic. They’re honestly amazing speakers. They’ve been in the attic for at least 10 years and they still function and look great.
This is a beautiful speaker for the price. I paired them with Roksan K3 Integrated Amplifier. The level of the detail you can hear from MA Silver 300 is unbelievable. Highly Recommended!
Even their Bronze series (significantly cheaper than your Silver speaker) are superbly well built. My only complaint was less about the speakers than the fact that my room was simply too small for even those relatively modest bookshelves. My 50W Marantz drove them to loud listening levels without breaking a sweat. Kevin, given the life that Johnny Cash lived he was fortunate to come to that realisation later in life - I fear that not everyone in rock'n'roll has been so fortunate. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the informative videos. I am torn between the Silver 300, Silver 500 and Gold 200. How would you compare the 3 for listening to rock/metal/blues? I like to hear guitar and punchy drums.. not thump, but punch.
I purchased the Silvers 8's which were the series preceding these. Compared against B&W, Totems, and Polk and the MA were honestly much better is almost every way. Better resolution, better bass, nicer looks.
I have the Monitor Audio silver series 5.1 set up. The finish and build quality is beautiful. Had them a few years now and I'm still in awe of their quality. I saw these against most of their competitors and nothing came close. I saw much more exspensive MA speakers and they were truly sublime. And they sound fantastic of course. I demoed the bronze series and they stood out against more expensive rivals. Monitor Audio is a British company. Thee British make the best speakers in the world.
Hello friend please can you tell me which amplifier would be better. I currently have a Yamaha A-S701 and I wondering if a Vincent SV-500 would be a better option for my Monitor Audio Silver 300. Thank you very much
Agree on the Johnny Cash comment... and these TRULY amazing speakers! My small gripe is the ridiculous concept of dual connection terminals that MA still insist upon. Sticking to merely a single connection of top quality makes more sense and simplify things. Many manufacturers do this now, thankfully, but not MA, which puzzles me. Otherwise, I'm impressed!
The dual connection is for bi-amping your speakers. if you're only using one amp then leave the jumper in and forget about it. They sound excellent either way.
Maybe some people still insist on having an audioponics grow centre in their living room. You can also replace the metal jumper bars with your own little cable jumpers if you believe the bars affect the sound. Otherwise I doubt anyone would really notice a difference. But you at least get that feel good feeling because you upgraded something, and it costs next to nothing (save for silly overpriced jumpers)
How do you compare this with MA Silver 6? It will be a real improvement in sound moving from the S6 to S300? I have a Parasound 90w per channel amplifier.
Hi Kevin, great review as always, thank you and recently got monitor Audio Silver 8 from my friend and it's a great speakers. I use Rotel integrated amplifier RA971mkll and I feel the sound is too bright. Is that good idea to change to Marantz integrated amplifier or tube amp. Any help/ brand suggestions much appreciated. Thank you
Hi, good video and passion, I have a pair of these and having trouble finding a replacement speaker driver, any ideas where to purchase one from and how much h they will cost ?
Heard it pairs best with warm Yamaha. Interested in what you've paired. List in comment please. Preparing a budget and really looking forward to a full ma silver set, but not opposed to falling back on bronze.
What's your opinion with the 500's I only do home theater. The 200 and 300 would not be a big upgrade for me. Unless you tell me monitor's don't do well for movies Ill look at something else
What minimum amplifier requirements to drive these speakers? I would appreciate some advice on a matching amplifier that would bring out the life in these speakers. Thanks.
The funny thing is most of my friends, who I would consider the average American listener, who believe they are a few hundred dollar and call the cops on me if I spent that much on speakers because they would think I am insane.
Please if could be possible. Take a shot with a mic on front in next videos. Please always are welcome something audio demo. Just to hear something of this marvelous. Thanks!! Amazing channel.
How much is the monitor Audio silver s10 I can’t find any information, does anyone know? I saw a pair at a goodwill store for 200 but I have no idea how much they are worth, and how good they are.
Hey, congratulations on the videos. Just a question, I'm about to acquire a couple of boxes Torres, I'm looking at the Silver 300. Could you help me choose? I want to connect them with Yamaha Rxa 3020, play only for movies and serials, you think they look good with Yamaha, being that the use will be for movies? The Silver 300 brings a good medium, are boxes with good sound detailing to watch movies? Thank you
@Chris Christian yes that is right. I had them played to me in a purposely built room in a HIFI specialist shop. I was able to listen to 7 different sets of speakers in the same position. The Monitors lacked punch compared to all the other speakers.
Did you audition them beside other speakers? I did, and the MA blew away everything in their price range and many speakers costing more. They weren't even the speaker I wanted until I heard them and compared them.
Don't trust the reviews. Monitor Audio= Big marketing, with big margin, and in reality the used drivers are cheap chinese drivers with PLASTIC basket! And if 1 driver go bad, the new driwer sold so much you'd do better if you buy a new one. Don't misunderstood me i was a big M.A. fan, it was a good brand till the 2000's, but now it's not that... Nowtime the big margin (profit) which remains with the merchant/traders allows many test writers/reviewers to encourage them to form a good opinion of the product and thus encourage them to buy, but in the reality this profit, whats land by the traders they are saved on the quality of the product, and thats not good for the buyers. Trendy outfit, big profit, from this profit they can "buy" good reviews, and cheap cinese plastic product. This is the new directive by the Monitor Audio. I personally newer buy again from this brand.
Are you stupid ? You don't know what you are talking about! Literally MA outdo speakers 3 times their price. This is not marketing BS or hype, people and LOT'S of people actually do love them, it's not some myth. The quality of build and sound is insanely good what are you even talking about ?
