How good-spirited for Oregon to finish off their disaster with good humor! Kudos to them.
It's the passer's responsibility to get the baton to the next person, but it's also the receiver's responsibility to take off on time, hold their hand outstretched and steady to receive it. The passer will get it there. If you grab for it, it's usually a disaster.
You took the words right out of my mouth, its the fault of the second runner groping instead of just placing her arm backwards. There's no excuse for that screw up. I feel for the other team members. All that training down the drain.
She definitely got out too early and then tried to slow down
The receiver messed up the baton exchange. Incoming runner will be tired so it's receiver responsibility not to move off too early which was the problem in this case.
@@marcusshabazz3978 They still could've possibly made the pass, but once the receiver started groping around instead of holding her hand still, it was pretty much done.
The Oregon's second leg runner held the baton very poorly. That is what messed up the exchange. Holding the baton at the top rather than the bottom can only lead to poor handoffs.
TT been putting in that work, damn great leg
TT Terry straight out of the 305 Baby 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for sending her to 213!! We love her here in SoCal
I guess TT stands for Twin Turbo .
She reminds me of Sha’Carri! 🔥
I hope usa put her on the 4×100 relay at the Olympics
She was spoolin
I would say so
Ms. Terry running Anchor was incredible WOW! 🔥🔥🔥
Sturgis of NC A&T ate up the stagger on that first leg!! She was moving
Would have liked to have seen her run the anchor.
USC woman walked her down. That was nice

The outgoing runner was too eager to get the stick. She needs to have a little more confidence in her teammate.
Soooo, Kemba gets a pass for holding the baton in the middle incorrectly? Jasmine also screwed up but your assessment sounds bout West Indian.
@@dmvbay2535 yeah kemba gotta take that half second to give the 3rd leg more baton to work with.
Time stamp 1:27-1:33 shows it pretty clear how Kember messed it all up.
Anyone who knows track knows it’s the incoming runners responsibility to get the stick to the outgoing runner. Try listening to the commentators instead of covering for Jamaica!
Poor passing in relays happen all the time. Its DRILLED into us from we are children how to pass the baton, and its just something that we do playing around running. However when you mess up in a big meet its a growth opportunity so just work on holding the baton properly and exchanging it properly.
These moments are priceless on the journey, so just be like water and enjoy it all.,,,,Oracle/Healer in the building!
2nd leg for Oregon was holding the baton in the middle. No way a clean exchange happens. 😬
She ran up on her
Yes she ran up on her, but she also didn’t adjust that baton. All runners are taught in the 4x100 to keep the baton how you got it until the fly zone. That way, even if you’re not coming in at usual speed, the outgoing runner has a mark where they slow down, but you have the full baton
You're right, she did hold the baton correctly.
I was thanking the same thing :
I believe the best method is :
To hold the baton at the end :
Bac n da day some teams had :
The over head pass method ✦
She’s a freshman. It was her first national champs race . She’ll practice and learn.

Tee Tee Terry 🔥🔥🔥
That TT Terry's got the recipe. I like her. Super fast
Seems like NC A&T doesn’t get the respect that they should. I think they’re going to be a force for years to come
Powerful finish!
Great finish by the Oregon anchor. At it girl!
I love me some track and field ✦
Trojan pride, fight on!! ✌✌
Terry just keeps winning ! Love watching her performance! if you give her 3 tenths of a second lead or behind by 3 tenths she is gonna get you. . Ain’t no one gonna take her. She is simply consistent n relentless! Such an amazing human seed!
Oregon second leg runner was holding the baton all wrong during the exchange. Virtually impossible to have a clean exchange
Oregon's failure was undone by a combination of bad placement of the baton by Kemba, and the 3rd leg premature take-off. With Kemba unable to stretch to pass the baton, and the runner creating way too much of a gap at the apex or optimal exchange point, both runners had to re-adjust without knowing each other's adjustments. If Kemba held the baton properly, Oregon would've had a successful exchange, but would have NOT placed in the top 3 or 4 since the 3rd leg had left too early and needed to re-start her launch. If the the 3rd leg did not have the premature take-off, Kemba may have had a solid exchange since I presumed she's done this often in prior relays, and Oregon likely would have been un the top-3. That being said, the majority of the blame is on Kemba, since she has 10-odd seconds to correct her mistake, the 3rd leg only has a fraction of a second, and made a mistake that was made by perhaps 50% of the runners in this very same race, but is minimized if the baton is still successfully exchanged without any dramatic change in pace.
Saying a lot doesn’t excuse that it’s drivel. Time stamp 1:27-1:33 none of what you said in your word soup happened there. Kember held the baton in the middle which made it virtually impossible to make a clean hand off. The 3rd leg runner went off at the right time and did nothing wrong here.
@@Hengel_Andrews Drivel? Word soup? Tell us how you really feel Hengel. With your ad hominem attacks it's questionable if your visceral indignation is to me or you are simply insulted by the fact that anyone else, but you can have an opinion. What's interesting is this Hengel dude (btw do I pronounce the "H") has the gonads to denigrate my word-soup with his own 100% certified as correct word-soup. I'll let your opinion stand Hengel since its pointless debating this level of arrogance online...
@@tascrphs fair point. I did respond in an unwarranted terse manner. Yep, also agree on being arrogant and therefore dismissive. There’s no however coming… What I will say is, you’re a low land commoner with brains faulted by inbreeding.
‘I think you’re assessment was flawed and needs to be revisited’ should have been my initial response.
@@Hengel_Andrews This is what she have been doing all season Why did the coaching staff not correct it?
@@noelbartley6074 Oregon has a history of failure on big days, remember 2018, 2017, 2016? The coaching isn’t concerned about the right things.

They got DQed not too soon after too 🤦🏾♂️🤣 I actually had them coming in third
Yesssss 305 in the building great jon Twanisha
The incoming runner held the wrong end of the baton, she had nothing to pass. The details count.
Love TT, terry.
wow, those girls are beautiful! greetings from Jamaica
what a closing leg by usc!
NC class of 2020 🐍
That was a great race.
It seems a lot of viewers who are blaming the incoming runner didn't notice that the outgoing runner (3rd leg runner) moved off too early which caused the baton exchange to mess up. Receiver MUST wait on the incoming runner since the latter is going to be tired. The receiver moved off way too early.
Third leg went out way too early for Oregon 🤦🏿♂️ dang it
Nah Kember who had her hand on the middle of the baton. She should have fixed it before trying to hand it off.
@@Hengel_Andrews I would say you are both correct.
@@atikameg73 I would say you reek of politician.
3rd leg Oregon went out with 3rd leg LSU. Problem was LSU's 2nd leg had a good lead on Oregon's 2nd.
@@gdadscott3496 is that what you saw at 1:25-1:33 time stamp?
These races looks so different without Shacari
You can say that again!
Yeah, she's usually running them down from behind but it's all good.
Yeah like how ShaCarri won 1 race at the championships uno, lost the 200m and 4x100m. The winner in this 100m final ran a faster time (legal or not). You’re just name dropping

Oregon incoming runner held that button like a mic 🎤,,,
The Baton from Oregon's 2nd runner was awkwardly held. I don't know how she intended to pass that.
Kemba hold the baton in the middle
Oregon had a freshman on team who messed up Baton pass. It was her first time in this champs run.
Just hate seeing great teams can’t get the baton around the track. Looks like 3rd leg took off a bit early. Great race tho, those young ladies were moving
Agreed. That was the problem.

1:20 was our time in 4th grade lol
High school state qualifying time is a 42.82 that’s stupid fast if you see them run up close these woman train hard AF to get to that level of speed and coordination
Go. USC
That is why there are 2 different teams.
Watch Japanese men's relay team for almost perfection in baton change.
Japan and France use a completely different technique. It is safer but not as fast.
@@gordonwaldner9792 I guess in the last decade, it was all about securing the silver for USA . Now that the Jamaican threat is not there , using Japanese technique can secure the gold for USA. Too many silvers and golds were lost in the past cos of very poor baton changes.
@@gordonwaldner9792 the French/Japanese "underhand-upsweep" actually is faster as well as safer and easier to learn. The American-style "push pass" distorts natural running mechanics which slows the outgoing runner. That distortion creates more variability in practice and meets, which is why it's more difficult to master. If you doubt me, watch an outgoing runner in slow motion. Count how many steps they take with their arms extended at right angles to the body...typically five steps, though sometimes less and often six or seven.
Sturgus should have ran anchor. That’s I know they didn’t know she was that fast😂
GO Aggies!🔥🔥
Looks like Kemba had her mind on the 100 meters lol
It's NOT kemba's fault-the outgoing runner moved off too early.
@@marcusshabazz3978 sure it is. Stop trying to make it the team’s fault instead of kemba. She’s the incoming runner who’s job is to get the stick to the out going runner. I hope she makes Jamaica’s team then pull an Oregon during their 4x100..who’s fault will it be then, the outgoing runner?
If anyone in the comments knows is it to old to run college track at 23y/o serious question!
TT Terry is a little freight train!!
It's so annoying when the officials are right up in their face right after the race. Can you let them celebrate for a few seconds? Damn.
I CAN’T stand it
Cool but let's see some throwers finally
The problem with Oregons hand off was Kimba Nelson and how she was holding it
TT paid back Thelma as both represented the US in TT freshman yr when the US coaches gave Thelma the nod at the World youth Track and Field Championships in Finland to run the anchor leg ( a position that year that TT or Lauren Rain Williams should have been given) and Thelma took off early and 3rd leg Jasmin Reed who had created a considerable lead after the third leg curve watched Thelma take off early and crossed the passing zone line before slowing down and when she finally took the baton she dropped it. That lose cause the coach a job and a mojo was created. Thelma running anchor when Jasmin is running 3rd leg has resulted in what has been to steady great competitors making their far in between passing errors. We will have to watch out for the next time these two are in a relay race competing against each other . Anyway TT got her revenge for being bumped off the relay team so Thelma could run the relay for the US who lost for the first time in nearly a decade back in Finland when Thelma was the youngest runner on the US team. As she is part of the fastest team time in the Collegiate and world ranks this year. That didn’t matter as to TT it was personal and I was surprised to see her chop down the freshman at the tape. Just saying I see another motivation for payback coming in the highly competitive field of the woman sprinters! Expect Jasmin to up her training as she is one of the best 3rd leg runners in the 4x100 in the world since she was small.. she has been dominant.
Got to give the next leg something to grab onto, cant do a hand off with your hand in the middle of the baton
The "MAINSTREAM" Track and Field
community weren't expecting the finishing results of the 3rd place team.Hmmm;I wonder why?🤔😁
I would have bet money that Terry could not have closed that gap on the final leg. Remarkable performance.
What? Ok you haven't been watching Tee Tee, she always excels in the 4X100!
Baton exchange rule#1:You Never have a second to have a bad day.
Congrats to the men and women of Troy for a combined total score and place to take the overall university team title over second place NCA&T.....
Did anyone else see Oregon’s 4x1 on tiktok with getting disqualified or was that just me
TEE. TEE. TERRY!
Everyone is talking about the dropped baton, but can we pause for a moment and recognize that holding your arm behind you at right angles to your body for five steps is a really lousy way to accelerate? When oh when are people going to start using the underhand exchange method like the Japanese? It's faster, more consistent, easier to learn, and safer....
Hard to get a good grip on that baton when you have 5" nails....
Is it? Have you tried it before 🤔
no impact
Yeah I guess we have give back all those medals we got from Gail Devers and Flo Jo since nails are a problem!
How would you know that??

You have to follow track and field to Know she went Pro after winning the ESPY Award she set a record 100 meter youngest ever to go sub 11 and only one to do it in in April of the track season-she did that this year. Also she has 3 sub 11 races so far 10.72 , if there was no win analyst said it could have been 10.6!
