It really helps if you get soldering flux gel in a syringe and apply that to the joints and the de-solder . Also afterwards use electro solder tin with flux core to re-flow the joints with extra tin. The joints have to be shiny and full of tin. I was a PCB repair tech before. Still a good DIY job. :)

Garage Built Hondas haha sweet! So I did comment on replacing my wife’s timing belt with the Blue gates racing belt ... so far so good. This was my first Honda timing belt job I had a hard time getting the crank pulley off and ended up melting the lower timing cover with my torch. In the end I propped up a long extension on a floor jack and used my jack handle and fat brother to break it loose. There is an impact socket for this job that is super thick I’m curious about might buy the next go around. Also had a hard time getting the timing belt tension set right with the factory procedure and ended up pushing up on the tensioner with a screw driver. I never found a video on UA-cam that was thorough in setting the belt tension or showing how much slack was in the belt after setting the tension. What about an OBD0 PG7 ecu, anybody know the resistors to pull and bridge? Hopefully didnt actualy fry my ecu and the main relay is just bad, but i kind of want to attempt this swap anyway. I have two auto ecu's just sitting and might as well have back ups.
Garage Built Hondas I found some info on it a couple days ago on a website called PGMFI.org it works for pm6 ecu's as well as other obd0 ecu's. Pull R66, R64, R62 and bridge resistor BR3. Im thinking I fried my manual ecu somehow because I get a solid CEL, no fuel, it cranks over but I cant hear my fuel pump prime in accessory. CEL does not go away after turning key to accessory and no flashing codes. Checked all of my fuses, they are all good. Ground at thernostat housing looks fine, never touched it. But as soon as i threw the auto ecu in from the swap, fuel pump primes, she starts and runs fine. Still a solid cel after turning key to accessory but im assuming thats from the code 19 whixh is the lock up selenoid. I guess we'll see if this conversion makes that cel go away.
I did an auto to manual swap on the prelude 97 base. Did the ECU conversion on the p5m as well. Question..... I have both modified p5m, as well as a chipped p28 h22 basemap. With the p5m, there's a weird rpm hang/rise before it drops down in between shifts. It messes up my shifting because I have to delay pressing the gas..... With the chipped p28 (my car is stock no IAB modifications) the rpm drops like its supposed to, and I can press the gas earlier. Is this normal. Or is there damage to the p5m? Could it be related to the IAB that the p5m uses but the p28 does not? Fyi, the p5m rpm hang has been present in two different motors. My failing h22a4, and now my recently swapped h23a vtec, converted OBD2 from the h22a4.

Hey my car lags a little after start up could it be the auto to manual conversion on the ecu or would it be something else?
No, the conversion doesn't have effect on engine performance.
Hey was wondering if this would work on other cars?
I have no idea.
would i still need a neutral safety switch? I converted my crx to manual.
No
Hi sir great video!! is this gonna work on p2j ecu? d15 automatic im currently doing a manual swap hope you see my comment thank you
Only if it's OBD1.
Can I do this to a p06 automatic ecu for my 93 eg ?
Yes
Would this help me with my rpm at 1500 when I did a gear box conversion an my 96 civic I still has the auto so I dont know if the cvt ECU is looking for the sensors in the transmission I do get rev needle bounce when I hit the gas it bounces up an then comes down an if I go for a drive an I stop the car it rev at 1500
You might want to find a manual ecu to try instead.
Hey can you give me lil advice on the p72 -902 ecu can it be converted to manual???
Is it obd1?
Hi I did a manual swap on my 97 accord wood this work on my ecu
Only works on obd1 ecus.
I am a noob at soldering, and I about to try and do this today. I am missing de-soldering wire, and a wire to bridge RP18 with. Any tips on some wire to get, or use?
Try any sort of electrical wire. It'll work too. Maybe try a 16 gauge wire. You don't need the desoldering wire.
Thank you for the reply! I actually bought a relay from Best Buy earlier that came with some resistors, and cut some of the wire from one of the resistors to use. I was worried this might be a hard feat, but it turned out to be very easy to do. You make awesome videos BTW, I love watching all of them, keep it up! (Please!) @@GarageBuiltHondas
Love to hear you got it done easily! Thanks for the kind words and hope the future content is enjoyable for you too!
Hi I have accord 1999 V6 but is not 16 pin connector but 3 pin connector how I can make same conversion?
I don't believe the obd2b ECU's can be converted like the obd1 ECU's.
How to know the difference ECU manual and automatic transmission for D series engine?
Google the ecu code and you'll be able to find out.
I plan to buy an auto integra and swap a manual transmission. Will this would work on 2000- 2001 auto integra ECU? I live in California and they'll check the VIN when smog checked so I can't swap ECU unless I go through a certification process.
Thanks
No. That's an obd2 ecu.
To anyones knowledge is it the same two solenoids on an 07 tsx? Couldn't find a diagram online.
So, I'm pretty positive I understand. Remove two resistor and one bridge in the slot of the 18
Correct
I have d17a 37820-PSA-N91 , can you tell its conversion to manual??
Only obd1 ecus for this video. I'm unfamiliar with this method on other models.
Would this be the same for a 98 Honda accord?
No. That's OBD2A. I'm unsure if it's possible on those ecus.
@@GarageBuiltHondas so I’m doing a manual swap on mine, and I have the manual ecu but not the key paired with that ecu, would you happen to know what I could do to get the immobilizer to turn off?
*Whats That “Wire” Called?*
Could have just added a shorting wire across the resistors on the board bottom.
my ecu has something on the ic16 and ic15 can i just leave it there?
Yes
Hi. Is there a problem when we do this process 96-98 Accord ce8 ecu? When we connect the car to the computer, does it see as manual gear? Thanks...
It won't work on obd1 ECU's. *Edit* my phone automatically corrected to obd1 when I meant to say obd2.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Why so? Ecu obd 1 on video ecu obd 1. What is the problem?
It won't work on *obd2* ecus. 96-98 is obd2a.
@@GarageBuiltHondas ecu number is 37820P45G31 53A
how many is this obd?
From a quick search it's from an 05-11 Accord, OBD2
Loving those purple rims!! What are they??
I'm not sure, that was a subscribers car.
@@GarageBuiltHondas alright thank you anyways. And love the channel. Hope to see more content!
but what happens if you run, ecu auto in manual?
I think it does not affect or if?
It doesn't run correctly and you'll get a check engine light too.
Can you not do this with ob2b Ecu like a y8
No unfortunately
bro the p2m auto ecu can convert to manual?
How do you know which resistor is for the transmission
because i have a lexus that needs a manual swap
Nice video good information. What happened if’s is Vtec is ECU
Same!
Thanks you
Can you just Swap the Auto ECU to Manual ECU? I have one in my Garage for my D16Y7
Only on obd1 ecu's.
@@GarageBuiltHondas I have a 1996 LX
You can desolder rp17 and call it good. Not sure how the rp18 mod became a thing. Been desoldering rp17 only for years
Wow, I'm going to try that on the next auto ECU I find!
billy bob what's the rp18 mod??
Edit: what's it do?
I think he meant just leaving it alone instead of modifying it, and just desolder rp17
It’s the same thing in the D17 auto to manual ????
I don't believe so since that's an obd2 ECU.
Would this work with a p2p a92 ecu? I have a 96 ek coupe ex that was auto and I did a trans swap to 5 speed and still running the auto ecu
No. That's an obd2 ecu
Good explanation of a how to conversion. Thanks
Does this work on any obd1 ecu? And the same pins?
Yes
i'm new to this kind of stuff...but will this work on OBD0 ECU?
No. Only obd1.
I need to do the same in a Civic 2000, ECU P2P-A92, Can you help me?
I don't know how. I've read it's not possible unless you send it off to a tuner who can. It's not simple like this I was reading.
will this work on a 05 civic lx sedan, im buying one that is auto and i want to manual convert it, this will save me from buying a new ecu, also besides that can i tune the ecu because i also want to turbo it
No. That's not an obd1 equipped car.
@@GarageBuiltHondas i meant 95 sorry
Is your car obd1?
Is any honda series the same?
Obd1 ones are.
I haven’t taken my ecu out but are the oem? On the dseries?
Does it work for all Honda obd1 PCUs???
I'm not sure. But it just might.
What about an OBD0 PG7 ecu, anybody know the resistors to pull and bridge? Hopefully didnt actualy fry my ecu and the main relay is just bad, but i kind of want to attempt this swap anyway. I have two auto ecu's just sitting and might as well have back ups.
I don't know how to do obd0 ECU's and there's not much solid info online either.
Next time I get an obd0 auto I'll try the above mentioned to see if I can get it to work.
Will this work on a POA A51 ecu from a 95 accord
I believe so. It's still obd1. You may want to read around online also to confirm.
@@GarageBuiltHondas so ive looked around some forums and youtube but cant seem to find much on the subject
Pull open the ecu and have a look at the resistors, see if they are the same as the ones in my video.
@@GarageBuiltHondas thanks ill give it a try, just need to get one from pick u part
👍
My failing h22a4, and now my recently swapped h23a vtec, converted OBD2 from the h22a4.
so why pull out the resistor if you just rebridge it?????
The bridge offers less resistance but theres still signal
