You are NOT wrong. This was literally the defining moment of my first ever Deus Ex playthrough. Maybe the defining moment of my entire video game history.
I thing it has a cult following especially with the fabino and agent strange twitter era which would sadly be missed. So I’d say it has a fair recognition now a days.
great work. The 0:37 lead is so iconic. Nice that you, as me, still use this lead in your productions. We should let great things survive through time as much as we can!
Maybe one of my favorite from the game ! It become really sick at 1:52 . Everything after is awesome. Also, the mixing is pretty cool on this one :) Keep up the good work my friend
About time that a remix of "Enemy Within" from the original Deus Ex was made available to Deus Ex fans. The original sounded somewhat sad given that the song played when JC Denton had to leave UNATCO for good while troopers were out for his head. Then the combat theme played, reminding players that they're in hostile territory and they must either escape or defeat UNATCO Troopers. Can't help but feel bad for JC and everyone else who turned hostile on UNATCO property since what was considered a second home was broken apart by conspiracies.
@@lemonismq4642 The last portion of the original song sounded uplifting, at least. Perhaps JC was slowly becoming optimistic again after all of the betrayals that he faced. Knowing that he had some folks from UNATCO on his side most likely helped.
It took me an incredible number of complete playthroughs before having the cold guts in going the lethal route. I had a hard time having to kill the troops you've chatted with before. Them changing the names (Cpl Collins and his buddy) to the generic ones didn't make it any easier. Plus the music and ambiance...
Well, Deus Ex came out 15 months after The Matrix. You could tell the stylistic influence of the movie (trenchcoat + sunglasses for one). When I first saw DX in gaming magazines my first reaction was 'Here we go, they've already made a Matrix game'. Obviously aside from certain aesthetics and references to conspiracy theories they don't have much in common.
@@AlexNes when I first read the back of the DX box I was like "sounds like an X-files game, and at least I know I'll be able to run it OK because it uses the unreal engine" (this was my criteria for selecting quite a few games back in the days of my old geForce 4 MX, and Deus Ex was definitely the shining star out of them.)
You should definitely do Combat Tracks more often, the first half was great but the second took me off guard The perfect transition from regular Ambience to combat
My only dislike is how the VUM vum noise from the original is just barely there, love everything else though these covers and even the remixes by Alexander Brandon himself are a godsend

I am so glad people are still remixing Deus Ex in 2021. Thank you so much!
The GEP gun is the most silent way to take down Manderly.
God, I will remember this track forever, glad you took a shot at it.
This is probably the best cover/remix of Enemy Within that I've heard, it's really well done! I wish Deus Ex was more known these days.

I really love this track, amazes me that people still remix this music so long after it was made. Shows how impactful the music and game truly are.
I found this just now, sounds neat! This track is one of my favourites from the game.

I've always thought it sounded hopeful, and the combat theme sounded heroic because JCs' fight for a better future started now.
