Hellooo! This tutorial is for my DIYers, and lovers of a fresh mani (on a budget) I decided to show you how I do my nails at home, and get beautiful results every time! Most of the products I used were under $4, and can be found at your local beauty supply store, drugstore, or even the dollar store!
Similar Essie nail polish: amzn.to/3eG1ywH
Bare my Love - I bought it at Marshall’s for $3.99 ;)

Nail videos like this are rare - thank you for showing that short nails can be incredibly beautiful, and, for teaching people that they can do a quality manicure at home. Thank you! 💕
thank YOU! 🤍
For those looking for a nail polish like the one she uses: I found Essie’s “Sheer Luck” to be almost identical to this one
Thank you, darling! Cheers!
Thank u
My favourite pale neutral polish is OPI’s “Put It In Neutral”
This is essie treat love and colour, no 07 bare my love. It has been discontinued sadly.
Your nails look like ~rich people's nails~ 💞💞
That’s the goal 😆
They are really pretty good job!
I’m guessing rich people will strongly disagree.
@@dcher3868 😂😂
@@dcher3868 wow you love money that much
Short nails along with long nail bed is the prettiest ever! So clean, classy and beautiful. Love it 😍
no
True
I agree
True but I don't have long nail bed 😐 I have short and wide nail bed, and that looks bad to me 🤕
❤ also get some cold water and add 1-2 ice cubes 🧊 to the water and let the cubes melt while you do your manicure. When you are done polishing in the last step, put your fingers in the cold water and the polish will dry quickly. Just make sure the cubes melted or remove any unmelted cubes before this step. I read this hack in a beauty magazine.
I think short simple nails are so much prettier than any super long fancy nails
Agreed!
I like long nails on other people, but yes, short nails look so classy and sexy to me. 💅🏾
But short nails are classy. S2
I love that clean classic look. I will definately look for that nail polish. Thank you so much!
Nice manicure. Your nails look so professional. Actually, better than the nail salon.
I have learned here how to do a manicure and I thank you so much. Everyone is always complimenting my pretty nails and they only cost me a few dollars!

I like to finish with cuticle oil just at the cuticle line. Use it daily. Keeps your nails looking finished and refreshed. 😉
Excellent! Thank you so much for this. I play piano and type quite a bit for work and just cannot grow long nails, so I have finally given up on throwing cash away for gel and shellac and I have started doing my own nails, following your process and they look just as beautiful and in some cases - so much nicer! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
No more dip powder for me. I only had it twice. It baaaadly weakened my nails.
I also play the piano, so I can't help it but have (very) short nails by choice 😅 I never had anything but just plain simple nail polish, because the other types of techniques seem too harsh and weakening to the nail, especially during removal 🫤
Hi! I am glad I came across your channel. Your video surely lines up with my thoughts on how nail care seems to be one of the fewest beauty treatments of interest these days. It is nice to get the nails looking good with color or acrylic applications but it makes good sense to have healthy nails and nail beds underneath. Take it from someone who use to bite her nails years ago, it was a terrible habit and not sure why I did it but true. I made up my mind then to take care of my nails so they would grow and look alive! Today, I maintain a hand and foot routine weekly as I age. Thanks for sharing!
So pretty. I've never done my nails growing up and kept getting frustrated with the blotchy first layer not realizing I need to build the color up. I'll definitely try this 😍
ultra short nails are clean classic and beautiful
Love how your videos are short, simple, and clear! Going to try this asap, gonna check out the pedicure next! Thank you! :)
Lovely. A quick and simple routine. You have picked a nail polish colour that really suits your natural skin shade and looks very sweet and pretty. 🌸
It does look nice, I was thinking the same thing. I always have a hard time trying to find a nice neutral color such as that, that goes well with my skin tone. Always fail to do so. Will have to give this color a try. Especially since I’m getting married at the end of November and I don’t have money to really spend to get my nails done.
congratulations ♥️
omg, this is hands down (pun intended) the best tutorial I have seen on manicures! thank you so much :)
Thank you! Love the pun 😆
@@PalomaDaily 😅 thank you and you're welcome
A faster step is to shower and once you are done showering and before you get out take the corner of your thumb nail and cut off all the dead cuticles skin. Its obvious to see it because the water swells the skin. I do this to my nails and toes about weekly. Super easy and mess free. Oh and I file my nails before I get in the shower.
@@ayoutubegirl5933Same here, I always clip my nails and push/trim the skin right after showering (I edited this because I now read that you're using your thumb nail to push the skin - even quicker and easier, kudos! I have very short nails by choice so I just get the tool right after showering and drying my hands)
Looks very natural but classy. Love it.
so pretty. I've painted mine and it lasts a few days and chips so I always get acrylics
It’s crazy I was thinking about giving myself a manicure 💅🏻 at home and your video was very informative and easy. Thanks 😊
Very nice. I love the idea of 3 thin coats of nail polish. 🌺
Around and around we go, around in a giant circle.. Women of the 1940s 50s all the way thru to the 80s, women always had an emery board in their purses and they maintained their own nails daily sometimes twice three times daily. Now many are going back to taking care of and maintaining daily their own nails. How did we let a whole culture make money off of, take care of and know your nails better than you. This womans nails are hers first off, a healthy pink and most of all they look strong. The look is simply priceless.
I always carry a nail file with me
So pretty and classy. Thanks for the tutorial!
Hello Yuliya
Your nails look fab! Would you consider doing a video on your favourite polishes, especially neutral shades? Thank you!
Definitely! :)
Looks so amazing! How long do you find it takes to dry? I always feel like I wait 45-60 minutes and I still find a way to ding my nails on something 🤷🏼♀️
Put them in ice water for one minute and thirty seconds. It freezes the nail polish dry .
@@ashleyalexxis3442 thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Try doing thinner layers so they dry faster
@@neila1126 thank you!! I have been doing that now and it seems to be working 🙌🏽
Quick dry top coat is my lifesaver! I use Seche Vite. Still have to be careful not to let anything dig into my nails, but they are dry to the touch after 2ish minutes!
Great job for an “at-home” nail service. Creative Nail Design makes the perfect product (Rescue RX) for repairing any damage on the nail plate with keratin protein & jojoba oil. Once you no longer see the faint smile line toward the tip of your nail you will know the damage has grown out and you’re back to a completely healthy nail. 💅🏼💕 I would guess to say you’ve got about 3 weeks before this grows out based on the date of the video. 👍🏼
Your nails look so clean and natural. I like it.
Omg amazing! They look soooo clean cut and elegant! Yes! 👍👌
woooow your nails are gorgeous!!! definitely going to pop out this afternoon to see if i can find this shade in my local store. thank you for such a great tutorial! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Do you know the name of the exact polish she is using?
@@judybus1 she's wearing 'bare my love'. i couldn't find it in my local shop so i went with 'ballet slippers' instead which looked kind of similar
That nail polish brand is really good and has a color for everyone that will look good on you
You can also use "quick dry" top coat, it's a game changer for me 🤩
Yes!! Will definitely give this a try and share an update!
I’m so happy I found you! I’m definitely trying this tutorial 😊
I love this! As a new Mama I don't have time to maintain long nails or colorful nails (realistically long nails aren't safe IMO to have on with my new born) so these are great!
Your voice is so relaxing!
Cooking, doing nails, makeup, hair at home is always the best.
You have such beautiful nails. I have no patience for painting my nails anymore. 😜
can't wait to do my own manicure and pedicure thanks to youuuu
Your nails looks so classy and beautiful.
I LOVE your base and top coat lids/brushes! The length makes them so much easier to hold!
Love the video and how easy you explained it. Could we possibly get a video on how to shape our nails like yours? I'm new to doing nails and I love that little simple nail shape you got going on. I just don't know where to start. 😅 great video. 😁
Thank you!! I will definitely make sure to include a little how-to on my next video for the shape 😉
@@PalomaDaily hello madam 😊 hw do u do ?? At salon this manicure they do what we should ask
Your nails are so pretty 🎀 It’s so hard to find nail channels where people have short nails 😊
Masglo! Colombian nail polish ftw! I always bring some masglo home with me in my luggage
Hello 👋how are you doing?
Never new that about layering. Thank you.
This TLC Bare my love is so pretty. I have one other TLC and this brush is perfect. Like you said, first coat after base doesn t have to be perfect
Great job on your nail work, especially making sure there’s no nail polish before trimming them. My mom just trims her nails with old nail polish sitting on her hands/feet.
Beautiful nail, well painted
Thanks for sharing
I use a regular tip coat then seche vite top coat over that. Seche vite dries completely in like 5 minutes
💜💜💜 thats my FRIEND!!!. Such a soothing voicee
Im doing this as soon as I get home from work today!
Hello Nichol
Woww they look stunning... Something each one of us would want our nails to look like... Love it ❤
I always thought I was simply ~bad~ at feminine stuff but I see now it just takes a bit of care, patience, and instruction :)
Thanks Valerie you have beautiful nails, and I will definitely use your technique to do my nail at home
I swear I watch this video all the time! I might have already commented before 😂 it’s really soothing to watch how you apply polish flawlessly 😌
I’m a stalker & ordered the Masglo base coat off of eBay, along with Essie Sheer Luck. Haven’t been able to locate the top coat though.
I’m watching bc I really want to just do my own. Every time I go anywhere to get them done the techs are rude as hell for no reason
Wow i really did think your nails were gel based on the thumbnail! They look gorgeous :)
Good job ur nails looks perfect
I know I’m in 2024 but this still is one of the best hacks I know!
You saved my wedding!🤗🤗
Your nails look really good and it does look like you got them done at the nail salon.
Thank you 😊 I hope you tried doing your own at home 💖
Great Job young Lady, your nails look very good!
Your nails are so perfect 😍
Thanks for this detailed tutorial ❤️
I LOOVE the BRESCIA top coat. It is simply the best. Available in Colombia only.
Beautiful! 🥰
Wow so beautiful and quick and easy too! Great job!!!
It’s nice to be able to take care of your own nails at home instead of going to a salon with the cost of manicures now days, and those really super long nails I can’t handle those nails. I’m not that fancy. I like your way better and this is how I generally care for mine. After all I went to Cosmetology school, and we learned about nails.
I agree! It’s such a nice way to dedicate a moment to yourself and feel taken care of without spending tons at a nail salon 💅🏽
What theee, how is it so perfect
Beautiful, and I love nails in that color!
Please be aware that trimming away the cuticle can open the door for infection and also cause hardening of the cuticle just like the calluses on your feet the same thing happened with your cuticles just FYI
What do you recommend? Just leaving the cuticles alone?
@@barefacedquestions Caring for cuticles is a lot gentler than cutting them away.
The best way to care for cuticles is to use a cuticle oil each day.
And when you hop out of A warm shower or bath use your towel to push back to cuticles. Also cuticle treatment and regular use of handcream can also help. I hope this helps
@@TheLeanneH Yes, that helps a lot. Thank you so much for taking time to reply.
@@barefacedquestions your welcome.
Also if you want to remove the cuticle attached to the natural nail plate, you can use cuticle remover lotion to soften the cuticle and gently use a orange wood stick or other to scrape away the loose cuticle. Then rinse well and use nail surface cleanser to sanitise ready for application of your nail service.
@@TheLeanneH any affordable cuticle remover lotion you can recommend?
edit: What is a nail surface cleanser?
Simple, yet elegant, just fresh
this is exactly how I do my nails! but i also use 91% rubbing alcohol to sanitize/remove debris from nail surface after filing/buffing! right before the base coat. 👍🏾😊
That is such a pretty color on you!
Thank you :)
@@PalomaDaily what is the name of the color and brand that you are using in this video?
They look lovely 🌸 Simple & classy, reminding me of Meghan Markle's royal manicure 🤍 I wonder, are there any ways to make a nail polish like Essie's last longer?
Make sure your natural nails have zero oil on them before applying your polishes, so wash hands but refrain from buffing as it weakens nails. And also a good top coat too like Seche Vite! :)
@@nikki4596 thank you!
essie has a gel setter top coat that stays long!
I use a nail product by Sally Hansen called "Double Duty". It is both a base coat and a top coat.
I use one coat for each. My polish stays on for two weeks. I apply a second coat of top coat after the first week. For the base coat, I apply the first coat of polish while the base coat is still a little tacky. That helps it grab the polish better than if you wait for the base coat to completely dry.
Over the years I have used many brands of base coats and top coats, including expensive brands like Dior and Chanel. None of them worked as well as "Double Duty" by Sally Hansen. I buy it at the grocery store for $4.00. A bottle lasts me at least six months.
@@nikki4596 I wash my hands with a little Dawn dish soap, paying close attention to my nails. Rinse well before applying nail polish. Dawn gets rid of all the oil on my nails. You don't need much. First I wet my hands, then put a tiny drop of Dawn in the palm of my hand and start lathering.
I prefer to pain too BUT if you don’t have time for all this there are SO many really beautiful and classy press on styles now, even at the drug store, that really stay on forever and are so much more evolved than the Lee press ons of old lol. Just clean up the cuticles, size then up and press on and they truly look like you spent a lot of money. I once asked a coworker where she got hers done because they looked $$$ and she was all oh they are press ons and I was shocked.
Beautiful
What’s color of these nails? It’s so beautiful😍
Wow I love how they turned out they are amazing 🤩
Thank you so much! 🥰
Beautiful! great job 😊👍💅🏿
What do you suggest to get them fully dry so they don’t get “messed up” after you think they are fully dry but they are not. Thank you, beautiful job!
I always just use my hair dryer.
You can uses hair dryer on the cool setting or dip them in cold water 😊

I play piano so I can't have long nails like other girls which sucks so I've never really bothered doing my nails tbh. Lately I really want to try doing more girly things and make short nails look pretty so thank you for the tutorial.
Shorter nails are the BEST! Those long nails always seem dirty and trashy to me. Like 8'' heels...just way too much!
Yes! I play piano every day and in my church as well, so I have to keep short nails in order to properly play. But I love to have pretty nails, even if they’re short! 💕
I am about to try this technique today. Thank you so much for this video!
Love the simplicity ❤
What color was your Essie polish?
“They need a little bit of love” 🤪
I have small hand and the smallest nails 🥺 they are wide and it makes my hands look weird. I could only dream of having nails like yours
Haha same my fingers are small and my nails are very wide haha I can never dream of having good nails
Omg same here! I have my dad's hands and feet so my nails are really wide. And when I grow out my nails they look *extra* wide. I've always liked small, dainty-looking hands and nails like my sister's
Simple just file on both sides of each nail til you reach the slimness you like or as much as you can.
Such a great video!!!!
thank you, this is what i was looking for :3 excited to do mine
You're so good at that!
Nails look so good! Just found your channel and subscribed. Also love how short the videos are as I loose interest after 5 mins x
