Oda always seems to have funny reasons for some of his One Piece writing choices, like how he apparently claimed Amazon Lily was made because he wanted to draw more boobs. I wouldn’t be surprised if Oda pulled a Garp and made Zoro have an eye scar only “because it looks cool”.
Seeing the sheer joy that you display through this section is amazing. Return to Sabaody may not be one of the best arcs, but it feels fucking fantastic. The pure catharsis and relief that comes from it is wonderful. I really need to rewatch this stuff more often.

Luffy dodging the pacifista beams and then oneshotting it was my first contact with One Piece outside of the 4Kids dub. It hyped me up so much I started watching the anime the following day I caught up at the start of the arc after Fishman Island and kept going with it for three more arcs before jumping to the manga, which I read from chapter one in a couple months (and then re-read during the start of lockdown last year)
I honestly can't count the amount of times i've watched episode 521, i remember i was waiting weekly to watch one piece's new episodes and i was still in college, this is hands down one of my top 3 episode in the entirety of one piece till episode 995. I'm so glad to go through this journey with u watching ur reactions since solo leveling and loving the good content

The Scar on Luffy's chest was made by Akainu at the end of Summit War, Akainu Attacks unconscious Luffy and Jinbe defends him, the blow goes through Jinbe's chest hitting Luffy in the chest, so Luffy is covered in bandages before the start of his training.
So a bit of minor change they made in the anime (probably due to animation issues) but Luffy can actually activate Gear 2nd in specific body parts now. When he took out PX-5 in the Manga he only activated it on his arm. This is actually really smart since it lessens the negative life sapping effects it had when he used it on his whole body
