    Just for people wanting to jam over the first two chords, watch out for the F# on the Em9 (fret 7 B String in the voicing shown) - That's more E minor/G major or C Lydian. It might be easier to treat those chords as the VI & II in the key of G. The natural occurring 4th in the key of C is F, not F#. That being said great video, really enjoyed it.

    • @ericassarsson7976
      @ericassarsson7976  Рік тому +3

      Ohhh yes you’re right! I actually tend to think both when I write music. I still think Cmajor. I guess it’s because I’m a jazz guy and just plays 9s everywhere haha! Otherwise there is no neo soul😂 But thank you for noticing it! I should prob mention that in the future. So everyone gets How I think! Thank you for being here and enjoying my content😄 I really appreciate it! All the best, Eric

      OK you are a damn good theory man and know you modes from your elbow...but also keep in mind that swing and urban vibe must come across...hats off to you though for giving the alternative option way of approaching the musical theory...in the end its about expression and vibe which cut through to our audience who usually think that a mode belongs to a computer network! Ha!

Hope you can show them each on a future video.😊That's all my friend...my feedback is just continue this format (the onscreen chords is really helpful .) and the lessons tempo is perfect and not overwhelming. your the best Neo Soul teacher.💯 Cheers my friend.🙏

      Hi Eric!!.
      WoW two videos on a week!!, it's not too much work for you?. It would be great, maybe too much to learn for a newbie like me, but well the information stays there and can go to the cue of things to learn, but i"m sure that theres someone over there that can do It...
      One idea for your videos?, ok this one is specifically for your shorts, maybe a series of important quick tips that needs repetition, for example, "all Major scales in 30 seconds", or maybe "the scale of the day" or "diatonical triads progressions"... this Will be a very powerfull tool, (and Will be repeated and repeared, thats good for you channel).
      Again thanks for your kindness and good work. Take care Eric.

    I want to suggest a video explaining and comparing neo soul and two other genres that sometimes get confused with neo soul, math rock and midwest emo.
    Emo isnt as common, but math rock gets compared/confused with both neo soul and emo, being like a bridge between these two styles.

    • @ericassarsson7976
      @ericassarsson7976  Рік тому +1

      Yes! You’re right. I usually play in both the lydian mode and the major one. For me the #11 is a more natural scale. It would be very wierd to use a b9 on the Em😅 But thank you for noticing it! I guess I should call it Gmajor in the future! So everyone gets it😄

    u keep slapping your strings percussively. is this needed every time? i mean this seems to be common in this genre. do you need to do it if there is drums and why do you do it anyways when it isnt used much in other genres. i can understand if the guitar is the only instrument.

    I think that this video is extremely informative and is easy to understand. Your chord diagrams and tabs on screen helps a ton; but PLEASE stop BEGGING and interrupting the lessons. I'm only 9 minutes in and I'm seriously considering just not watching any more because of your constant interruptions asking me to do this, do that, pay for this, pay for that. If I want to subscribe, I will. If I want to like the video, I will. You don't have to mention it every 2 minutes. I know that it helps with getting you more views to drive engagement with the audience, but there are far more elegant and tasteful ways to do it than this. I appreciate that you are out here spreading your knowledge to the wider world for free, I respect it a lot, but doing this all the time is going to drive away people that otherwise would have stayed.
