Just for people wanting to jam over the first two chords, watch out for the F# on the Em9 (fret 7 B String in the voicing shown) - That's more E minor/G major or C Lydian. It might be easier to treat those chords as the VI & II in the key of G. The natural occurring 4th in the key of C is F, not F#. That being said great video, really enjoyed it.
Ohhh yes you’re right! I actually tend to think both when I write music. I still think Cmajor. I guess it’s because I’m a jazz guy and just plays 9s everywhere haha! I think that this video is extremely informative and is easy to understand. Your chord diagrams and tabs on screen helps a ton; but PLEASE stop BEGGING and interrupting the lessons. I'm only 9 minutes in and I'm seriously considering just not watching any more because of your constant interruptions asking me to do this, do that, pay for this, pay for that. If I want to subscribe, I will. If I want to like the video, I will. You don't have to mention it every 2 minutes. I know that it helps with getting you more views to drive engagement with the audience, but there are far more elegant and tasteful ways to do it than this. I appreciate that you are out here spreading your knowledge to the wider world for free, I respect it a lot, but doing this all the time is going to drive away people that otherwise would have stayed.
Neo Soul isn’t a real genre. It was merely a marketing tool coined by Kedar Massenburg. The artist’s originally associated with this term act hate this name. 😂😂😂😂😂

Cool❤
amazing content! like and sub!
Ayeee thank you so much man! I really appreciate it! Do you also play guitar?😄
@@ericassarsson7976 yes I do! And your neo soul content it's so useful, makes me pick my guitar and start noodling some chords!
Wouldn't the Emin9 Amin9 vamp put you in G Major/E Minor instead of C Major because of the F#?
Yes! You’re right. I usually play in both the lydian mode and the major one. For me the #11 is a more natural scale. It would be very wierd to use a b9 on the Em😅 But thank you for noticing it! I guess I should call it Gmajor in the future! So everyone gets it😄
Hello teacher!!
Neo Soul is jazz for people who don't want to look like jazz nerds. Great video though!
hi, nice lesson but chords should be A-9 / D-9 @ 3:37
Yes that’s right haha! Sorry for that😅
@@ericassarsson7976 no worries, great work
What amp do u use?
Amplitube!
@@ericassarsson7976 but what amp?
why is it Em9? is it not Dm9? 3:50
👊😎👋
Ayeee thanks🙏😄 Do you also play guitar??
Yes ,for 30 years 😅.👋
been playing around 2 years and this is still to advanced for me, maybe make an actual beginner video?
how about LOFI?
A lesson on this coming next Sunday!!! Thanks😄
Bro how many guitars do you own :D ?
I don’t know😆😆😆
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
🙏😄
u keep slapping your strings percussively. is this needed every time? i mean this seems to be common in this genre. do you need to do it if there is drums and why do you do it anyways when it isnt used much in other genres. i can understand if the guitar is the only instrument.
Yes! It's pretty common actually!
3:45 ?? Am9 -> Dm9
Black Americans be aware we must start to gate keep our sound and music because they will later say they invented it.
26 seconds in and those camera movements.... nope, I'm feeling a bit sick.
Haha! Bro you should see the games kids plays these days. This is light compared to what people are used to these days. But I guess You’re right. My dad agrees with you too😅
@@ericassarsson7976 Heja Pappa!
Im a kid from these days, but I agree with your dad. Slow down a bit, neo soul is cool and not stressing
Seriously… This is for beginners??? I have been playing jazz guitar for decades and I was having trouble keeping up with you..
Thank you so much! I'm happy to read that you liked it😄 If you want to get access to my 300+ lessons and masterclasses with TABs and everything, check out my Patreon! I got the link in my bio! Have a great day☺️🎸
All the best, Eric
I think you could have squeezed in 25 more examples if you would stop putting a commercial after every lesson!
Premium doesn’t get ads. It’s worth it tbh if your on UA-cam all time like I am.
@@tc3881lol ok Google
Or…and stick with me here, u just appreciate the time and effort it took for a highly produced, clear and understandable free lesson…and understand that a small effort to make money is essential to one’s existence
It’s kinda like a nice break to separate the different progressions
The relentless self-promotion is a bit cloying. You are a good player. Far less talking and more showing is in order. Do you think people want to subscribe to hear more talking in the rest of your videos? Geesh...
Too much adhd, not enough lesson.
MAXWELL !!! SADE !!
Ayeeeeee😍😍😍
