Great to hear how much you like this ski Andy.
This ski reminds me of the old S6 a more directional twin/freeride shape for ppl like me that didn't like the S7 elf shoes.
This and the Sender 106 ti are stand outs in their line up which you should try. The sad part is the size run on the 110 is off/ too ltd. 194 too long 184 too short. Thye need a 4th size and to go in 6-7cm splits which based on how well this is selling will happen but next yr?

Great review. How did the overall flex feel vs your old model Rustler 10s? Thanks nick.

think this will likely read as stiffer to most, but definitely well-balanced

I would also probably buy one if it was 100mm waist

Do you think this could work as a one ski, daily driver for the season out in Colorado? I plan to spend the majority of my time (About 75% on ungrommed runs). Did you get a chance to ski them in bumps as well?

for me, 110 is a lot of width for a one-ski quiver.

I demo'd some Rossignols last year. I had a few pairs back in the 80s when they had a strong placement in the market. They were all good skis but did not ride like K2s. I went back to K2s.

Obviously Rossi owns World Cup racing, but in the AM/Freeride space, they make good but not category-leading skis. I do think the Sender Free is a significant upgrade to the line--but it's too wide!

@@AndyLewicky totally... and I did enjoy all of the Rossi skis I took out for some turns.

I'm not sure what you define as a category-leading ski is, everyone looks for different things out of their skis. I would say the Sender line of skis is certainly stiffer than many of its peers in the all-terrain category. It's more playful than an Enforcer or Stormrider, but certainly stiffer, and more demanding to ski than Mindbender or QST models.@@AndyLewicky The Sender Free is a different ski all together, stiffer torsionally than most of its peers in the market, but softer along the length of the ski than the Sender 104Ti, 106Ti. Really playful, but can arc turns all over the mountain. just my .02

Ultimately the market makes that decision. Tastes change; skis, designs, and technology come in and out of favor. From the pov of the consumer, knowing which skis are bestsellers--and particularly so over not just one but many seasons--is a good indicator of where to start your own search. And obviously from the pov of the brands, making a ski that becomes an enduring bestseller within its category is the goal. @@therealtflyes2794

you wrote that "they make good, but not category-leading skis" which leaves a lot up to interpretation. I think I understand what you're getting at though. Basically, do your homework, try skis that make sense, not just the flavor of the day.@@AndyLewicky

Did you ski them on the recommended mount point? If so, did you feel like you had enough tips up front?

    • @AndyLewicky
      @AndyLewicky Рік тому +1

I assume they were mounted on center as these were Rossi's people. Did not have any issues with ski balance--they were outstanding

@@AndyLewicky Thank you for the info! I believe the recommended mount point is -3.4cm on the 184's, with that being a more centered mount point vs a traditional more rearward mount point, did you feel you still have enough ski in front of you? They were still easy to maneuver? I'm considering picking up a pair of these for next season. Thanks!

@@Mr_Dusty I might be able to ask the reps exactly where the ski was mounted. If they had been mounted off-center, I am guessing I would have noticed...check back in a week or so

@@AndyLewicky That would be awesome! Thanks for doing that! They have 3 mount point lines on them, the center mount point is the recommended line, which is -3.4cm from true center, then the ski has a line in front of the recommended line and a mount line back from the recommended line. I'd love to know what you skied them at, aka, what Rossi had them mounted at for you. Super helpful, thanks again!

@@Mr_Dusty OK, the Rossi guy says they were mounted on the center mark line (not the ski's true center, whatever that is). As expected! :)
