I am the biggest Kauto fan going, and was there for all 5 of his King George wins (I lived about 10 minutes walk from Kempton) but I had backed Long Run heavily to win this one. Halfway down the back though, I knew the old boy was going to win and roared him home like everyone else there that great day. It’s always nice to win, but I have never and will never be so happy to lose a good few quid. There are more important things than money, and seeing history be rewritten is one of them. God bless you big lad, hope you and Denman are still taking each other on up there somewhere!
The emotion of that day back in Boxing Day 2011. Brilliant reception this legendry horse had. One of my favourite racing memories of this decade. RIP Kauto- King George The V.
Thank you so much for uploading this. This is arguably the greatest chasing performance of all time of level weights. Brings a tear to the eye watching it.
Still get a lump in my throat watching this. Kauto Star. What a horse he was. Simon Holt easily one of the best commentators out here. "Kauto Star- King George The V".
Sends shivers down my spine every time I watch it. Holt is without doubt this countries finest sports commentator. Captures raw emotion incredibly well. A sad day today losing Kauto. A true champ.
+f1fantic1 Actually, that has made me to go to Kempton Park and one year ago today, I did and saw Silvianico Conti win this race on a gloommy overcast Boxing Day.
Gotta b one of my favourite horse races of all time …, kauto star what an extraordinary animal the highs and the lows with him but he of course roared back against all the odds…… absolutely fantastic…… also simon holts commentry was absolutely excellent…..
Followed him when he took all before him as a 2 miler then fell in queen mother champion Chase would of easily beat Moscow flyer. Even lost £300 the day denman beat him in gold cup even though I had a very bad bad feeling ut was gonna be denmans day but could not let money get in way of loyalty to kauto star could of done both bit still did not have heart to do that lol. But in long run made so much money and had some of the best moments in chasing thanks to him. Ps had 7-1 at £200 👏👏👏 only time I never bet on him or another horse in that race was 2010 king george I knew tony McCoy was not the right jockey for him.
I put more than I could afford and more on Kauto that day (4 figures) as I somehow just knew this day was written already for the history books, we must embrace fantastic horses and days like this, maybe there will never be another hero like Kauto on a racecourse again, cherished memories ......
Same 🤣 cost me my relationship (the amount i gambled this day) but my beloved Kauto delivered my Xmas bonus and more and I didn't regret a moment of it I still get goosebumps watching this and remembering the feeling when I won 5 figures what a new year I had 😂😂
you people trying to compare who's better, Arkle or Kauto is ridiculous, two different horses, two different era's, just appreciate that they were both brilliant racehorses.
Arkle would of give him a stone ? Don't talk crap ! Who holds the track record at the king george it's not arkle ! It's king kauto ! Who hold the winning distance in the king george breaking arkles 40 year old record 36 lengths king kauto ! Arkle wouldn't of got near him at kempton and that's a fact !
totally agree mate no horse past present or future would ever touch him .....I love all the champions but he was something else.... to run them off there feet over 3mile with 7 to jump...a champion chaser master minded couldn't even live with him....speed to burn and stamina to boot....true champion over any distance :)
