I work at tractor supply(hopefully they don't hunt me down n fire me after this comment.). There is no such thing as training, they play little videos and managers pressure u to rush through them as fast as possible. You either learn or u drown. My work place has a bunch of workers without forklift certifications, driving forklifts. ALL of our employees are not propane certified but are still expected to fill propane. My mangers has almost ran me over on the forklift 3 times, he is reckless. I hope my comment isn't deleted.

You can buy a replacement locking mechanism at tractor supply if they do go bad. They also sell tool trays that make access easy. You can get replacement gas lifters. I paid $229 for a new box for a truck at tsc and feel this is a good investment.

I don't even think there's a 20,000 dollar paint job that wouldn't scrape up with tools being scraped around

I got lucky, found a cheap box for my silverado. My grandfather had an old heavy duty, can stand on Knaak box on his Ford. I asked him messing around if he’d trade. He said go for it. Box still had the tray and was manufactured in 94. I ordered some Raptor Liner and sprayed it, you would never know it’s a 24yr old box. Brand new was $1000.

They sell rolls of rubber mats at tractor supply that you could cut to fit the floor of the box, would keep things from rattling around and scratching up the coating on the inside

Not a bad looking box
My cousin has a 2002 f150 with the suicide rear doors... anyway he needs a another truck box that is shallow and doesn't go as far down in the bed so he can fit wood and sheetrock under it but they're hard to find but this looks like it leaves tons of room under the box

3in1 makes a dry lock lube for locks you just spray it in there. Wd40 will eventually gum up but that lock lube won't.

To fix the lid closing problem. You could take the ram off the passenger side.
I have this on my truck I’ve had it for a very long time you take care of it it will take care of you I have no dents everything works great you don’t take care of it it will turn to junkBut it’s a grate box for the money I would buy again

Second con could been fixed by getting gullwing style box over single lid. But requires the like of the gullwing style. Its the one I got from them. Only had for few days though, was 300 dollar box on sale for 100. Just wish was the black style not chrome though.
$300 isn’t cheap in my opinion. I expect better quality for that price. This should be half the price for what I am seing. It’s an ok tool box I think just not a $300+ box
I agree but look online there really aren’t that many half decent tool boxes for much less then $300. With these you do get what you pay for
@@RatchetWrenches yes that’s true. I think some items we like we have to just bite the bullet on and get. Especially made in USA stuff. Sometimes I just wait until I can and bite the bullet I know it hurts initially on the wallet but I also know once I get the tool and see the quality I start to think it was well worth it. 😎
Exactly it depends on your budget and what look / function you’re going for on your build.
Don't use WD-40 or any petrol-based lubricant on locks..... they attract dust and dirt and get the tumblers all sticky. Use dry graphite powder. Also - put a small round magnet over the keyhole, keep the moisture out. You'll thank me later...... if you can find me.
I haven't had any issues with the box since I bought it with minimal maintenance
Cheap locking mechanism on Tractor Supply box has been a pain in the a$$. Getting rid of mine soon.
Only issue I had was snapping 1 key in the winter but besides that it's been great for me

I'm about to grab truck, but I would be parking in areas where theft is not uncommon. Are these boxes hard to take off the truck. Based off your experience, what's the most secure storage options? Thanks
Thank you! And once they are on the truck, they are not easy to get off if someone was going to try and steal it or your belongings inside. I would recommend this toolbox to anyone and maybe just upgrade the lock since the CH518 is a common key.

I seen the non diamond plate version of this box at my local tractor trailer supply store. On the lid both sides had dents but the manager said it was from the welding of the the bolt that latches to the locking mechanism. Tried getting a discount but did not work
Yeah they do dent pretty easily! Probably wasn’t from the welding lol. Sounds like they should’ve gave you the discount!
Ratchet Wrenches I think I could’ve argued it more but the dents were right above in the other side of where the welds were
