  • Jules Verne wrote one of the most memorable novels of the 19th century. Many authors wrote about a possible voyage to the Moon, but they involved as much fantasy as fact. Verne used the best scientific knowledge of his day to write of 19th century aeronauts blasting a manned shell to the Moon. As much holds up today as does not, a remarkable feat!

Space has fascinated people since time began, getting to places as the moon or others isn't easy today even, so stories going back so far, is more than interesting. As it was for Jules Verne, his writing became magical, and still is today. I'm sure if he returned today, his imagine would run wild. 😮 Lovely narrated, I'm looking forward to seeing you next time. Thank you ♡♡♡

His writing really is magical. Even young readers today can get so excited by his work. Back in my teaching days, I recall that the students loved "Five Weeks in a Balloon." Hehe, I can only imagine how he would write adventures stories in our time. The problem is that the world is much better mapped now!

It’s interesting seeing how you juxtaposed antecedent examples before Verne. I enjoyed seeing how Verne spun this story with some realistic elements. All I can think of Back to the Future III.

Thank you for your kind words. Indeed, the number of works dealing with lunar travel surprised me. Perhaps the "Back to the Future" films are spiritual successors of Jules Verne!
