This soundtrack brings me right back to being a little girl crushing on King Graham and being in awe of the cool story, amazing art and memorable music. Hard to pick favorite tracks, but Cassima, Oasis and the Weeping Willow are some of the most beautiful songs I've heard from any game. Getting captured after playing that badass organ was totally worth it, too, hah. The composers did such a phenomenal job - especially with the tech limitations of the time!
I found this version of the soundtrack through its use on another video. Having only ever played this game using a soundcard with General MIDI, I didn't remember it ever sounding this good. Thanks for preserving the score as originally intended and adding the ambient sound effects and songs into a cohesive and robust soundtrack.
This game supported general midi but was really meant for MT-32. Sound effects like birds chirping and water splashing were custom MT-32 "instruments".
Actually, most of the Sound Blaster versions even play in different keys from the others. I can never get anything to imitate a sound card that would play both the outside and inside Village themes to play in C major, the correct key, for instance.
@@StuartSimon Which themes? Are they in this part? I think the reference version is the version as it sounds on MT-32. However I would be surprised if the tones are different between MT-32 and (say) Sound Blaster/Adlib emulation.
So interesting that you mention that because I played these growing up in the 90s and they sounded a little extra to me too. So I searched for the OST in the original sound blaster and there's a video at watch?v=vFXagzfJZ_4 by Mordack's Organ that is just that. Sounds exactly like I remember it playing on my dad's Pentium 1.
@Dilandau3000 Yeah I found it. I am going to sub I see I have a lot of games in common with you. Love the Dreamfall, Myst and all the Sierra games. Hopefully, we can keep these great classics on the net without SOPA ruining anything. Cheers.

Such an epic soundtrack...oh, the nostalgia!

The themes labeled “Serenia” and “Shop” in Part I.

The Battle with Mordack was really memorable due to the music. Each portion of the battle had a perfectly fitting theme.
Couldn't agree more. =)
Haha, I'm on a boat. Nice song title.
...Wow! Mordack's Castle sounds AWESOME and echoey with these new headphones!
Epic soundtrack!
I love the Oasis, Willow and Cassima themes, but the Dungeon theme at 30:13 is probably my favorite.
That wasn't a very smart move for Graham to make
Wow, didn't notice the sled theme included the motif from 'Ringing of the Bells'! Very cool.
39:08 my favorite

I didn't hear the game over theme on the soundtrack CD.
Sounds pretty awesome arranged. =)
15:44 to 16:26 sounds so jolly!
39:09 Spy......Spy!.......SPY!!!
WOW Cool King's quest is one of my favorites from childhood. Do you have a police quest one?
Is the organ not on the soundtrack CD?
Influenced by Hungarian Dance #5 at 19:17?
Jeff Galef Maybe, but it sounds like the intended target of imitation was Bach rather than Brahms.
