Did this pond have "aquascape" style filtration (wetland, biofalls, etc.) or did you use filtration closer to what we typically see on this channel (combos of beads, drums, or easypods)?
Combination of Biological media and performance bead filtration as well as upflow wetland filtration. Water treated with UV light and Ozone. Lastly copper ionizer to decrease algae growth which is very difficult to extensive sun exposure.
It has some W. Lim Corporation Bead Filters, pumps high powered UVs and Ozone…both had been turned off by owner prior to our visit…wetlands were also incorporated to help with filtration

Very nice pond, probably not ideal for koi but I would love to have a pond like that in a mild climate where I could stock it with a whole range of Malawi cichlids, probably amongst the few freshwater fish that could make koi look dull! Being European I am more used to ponds with no rocks or sand (that are not necessary for koi) but would be absolutely perfect for Mbuna, I used to have them in a 6' glass tank but I can only dream what they would be like in a pond like that!
Is there reference or literature on how to properly build those glass panels into the wall in a waterproof fashion or does everyone just do it differently? I would imagine that there has to be a single right way to incorporate a panel like that into the concrete wall with 100% guarantee on waterproof integrityat least over the course of five years

How come the light-colored fish aren't getting sunburnt? It's Nevada sun. Im in the northeast and I have to worry about sunburn.
Good question, they have some shadow spots. But they seems to thrive well

Building a Casita. Planned on a second pond, but new water restrictions in Las Vegas limits on pool size to 600 sq feet (not clear if applies to ponds). Evaporative losses are significant, and water bill in summer quite high due to penalties
