Birthday candles are relatively inexpensive and come in packs of multiple colors of wax and at some second hand stores/yard sales you can often find old metal costume jewelry pieces that are large enough to be used as makeshift seals if you want to merely play around with the craft in order to see if you want to eventually spend a bit more to try furthering your skills with the proper tools.
Yea what was the point in going thru the effort of making the rainbow block pattern if they were just going to melt it into a rainbow behind a butterfly :

I know it's just a staged skit but when the kid said "ill scream if you dont let me get toys" just leave the store. Dont get anything at all. Grab your kid and leave. Let them scream. They'll eventually learn that screaming gets the exact opposite of what they want. Thats what my parents did with me.

The hot glue melted the wax so then it moved when it got squished
Yes there is clear above and below to create this effect
Also that was hot glue! It’s really cool how they use wax and hot glue (as well as some paint for the details) to make something so pretty
