  • Soooo....Larys Strong has a secret love of feet. Alicent Hightower's feet in particular. However, I think many are missing the true horror of this scene just to say LOL feet. And how Larys' obsession is in line with his other favorite hobbies that use power and humiliations on his victims for his own pleasure.

I love the parallels between her disgust with Viserys and with Larys with the line "the hour is quite late". She uses it the first time in the episode where Raenyra is losing her virginity, as Viserys summons her to his chambers. She uses it again when she enters the room and sees Larys standing there.

That's true, and I have to believe that Alicent laid like a corpse underneath Viserys every time they had sex. Granted, the guy was much older than her, and he was diseased, but no guy enjoys a woman who is not engaged during that level of intimacy. She acted like Viserys was raping her, so how can she outright lie and claim that she "loved," the King when she tries to coerce Rhaenys to the green faction's cause?

I actually get that the foot fetish stems from his physical disability, but he is obsessed with her. He gets off on dominating Alicent, and what makes him psychotic is that he does this with her grudging consent. In a regular BDSM arrangement, a dom engages intimately with his/her submissive(s) with their full consent, and both parties find a thrill in their arrangement.

i'm sure someone else has made this point as well but if we're sticking with the three eyed rat theory for larys, we see a rat look directly down at a clearly distraught alicent after her sex scene with viserys in i believe episode 4. if we apply psychic ratman larys to that scene it's possible larys has been preying on her discomfort for years prior to extorting her for foot shows. i think that if you look at the two scenes together it shows a consistent, sinister desire for domination in larys, particularly over alicent who as you said is politically the most powerful woman in westeros.

Larys is a brilliant character, if they're following the character in the books. He's a psychopath and his thoughts and motivations are unknowable. His pleasure comes from watching others and reading their emotions. His apparent foot fetish is all about how it makes Alicent feel, not him. He's in performance mode when he's supposedly pleasuring himself to her feet, when really it's about the control. I'm sure he likes his club foot as much as he hates it, as it has allowed him to be an observer who is more or less invisible to everyone. If he is a greenseer, I bet he watched his family die through the rats in Harrenhall.

Oh the scene where Alicent took off her shoes before dinner was NOT lost on me. I noticed it right away and found it suspicious. I wasn't expecting a foot fetish moment but that was an oddly specific action at an unusual moment. For me though I had initially thought it prooved she was on an intimate comfort level with Larys like the two had been knocking boots.
I definately didn't think the foot thing was just "lol foot boi!" and was more about him asserting dominance on The Queen and proof to show the levels Alicent was willing to go to get all the advantages she could for her children. I also personally thought it was satisfying that for all her high horse sneering at Rhaenyra for being a "Whore" and having bastards... Alicent was clearly no better allowing herself to be Larys' whore and plaything. At least Rhaenyra got joy from her experiences. For as smart as she was as a girl Alicent sure grew up to be an idiot as a woman. Jealousy does numbers on people I guess!
I am LOVING Larys's character. He was so sussy from the beginning and I have loved every moment watching his character's nature slowly opening up for the world to see. He's fascinating! I love how you presented him here in this video! I think you did the character justice!!

Rhynera had the chance to chose a husband, something Allicent had not. She had a Was allowed to grow old enough to know what she wanted, while Allicent was already sold to her old father she feared somewhat and treated her like a piece of meat. Rhyneras fist time was all to her choosing, cause she wanted and not even with her husband, while Alicents was probably traumatic and unpleasant. Then rhynera sleeps jet again with someone else but her husband birthing bastards in a compleat subversion of all the duties that hold Allicent prisoner. And then rhynera gets to marry a man she desires and be happy and positively sexual activ jet again while Allicent gets violated by jet another men she can not afford to offend. No wonder she is bitter. To her sex is something disgusting, something that drives home just how powerless she is and somehow somehow for rhynera it is the opposite. Allicent was a good girl and got punished for it, while rhynera gör rewarded för transgressions..... It is an absolutly shitty situation for her. Calling Allicent a hypocrite by calling her getting sexualy abused and rhynera enjoying herself the same really is not fair

@@arianewinter4266 Alicent didn't have to emotionally seduce Viserys but her father made her do it. She could have said no she could have protested she was too young and he was too old. You act as if Viserys was abusive and cruel to her. He only chose her because she had been putting herself on him emotionally and building a connection bond (he thought) and he chose her over a literal child because at least Alicent was "decently of age" compared to Laena. I never once saw Alicent _fearful_ of Viserys or treated like a "Piece of Meat." She performed her wife and queenly duties when he called for sure but by _that_ point she had already been married to him and had agreed to that arrangement. Viserys treated Alicent very well. The fact he didn't have her killed for threatening the future Queen and a Prince of the realm with a deadly weapon not even addressing how many times she slighted Rhaenyra's childrens's parentage shows how well he treated her.
Alicent was bitter of Rhaenyra for getting to enjoy herself but you know what? Rhaenyra was the heir to the throne and so she's going to have a freer spirit. Had Rhaenyra been a man she would have been doing all kinds of things and no one would be batting an eye at her. Look at how Alicent's own rotten child acted regularly and she turned a blind eye to all that he was doing.
Alicent is a hypocrite. She has drank her own koolaid and believes she is holier and purer than she truly is. She's a religious zealot and a throne stealer. She had chances to break free from the control of the men around her but she never even tried.
She was a dutiful, good wife and mother but she allowed her bitterness to bring her to filthy depths.

Larys is a weird guy who figured he was doing Allicent a big favor by killing the Strongs . In his mind, it was a trifecta of win, win, win. Revenge on Rhaenera by getting rid of her lover, Alicent's father would get to come back and be the Hans, and he, Larys, gets to be lord of Harrenhal. Alicent was upset at first, but then realizes she can manipulate him with his fetish and his attraction to her. She is not being abused, she is getting what she wants, a spy master who will do whatever she wants, even kill for her. All she has to do is show her feet. On her part, it's not even sex. I've heard that back in the days when women wore long dresses, it was more shocking to see their feet than even their breasts. Not really that odd then, that he'd react that way.

She could borrow the catspaw from Aegon, say he assaulted her and she was just protecting herself.

I think the whole thing becomes even creepier when you factor in the difference between Larys's demeanor in episode 7 and in 9. In Driftmark, he looks smitten when Alicent calls him a friend, even gives a little contented sigh before proceeding to grin like an idiot while staring at the water. I don't think that was him playacting or anything. I think at his core he's a socially awkward weirdo who has no idea how to make friends in addition to being a psychopath. In Green Council, there's an iciness to his interaction with Alicent we haven't seen before. He takes pleasure in dominating and humiliating her, and while I think that's always been his way of achieving satisfaction it contrasts so sharply with the last time we saw them together. There's almost anger and bitterness there. I don't know what she did to disappoint him in the six year time gap, but I think something clearly happened. If she somehow pissed him off or humiliated him in that time jump and he's exacting continuous revenge, season 2 could be very ugly.

That’s why the rats we’ve seen before. That’s why the Mysaria twist. (guessing she’s in a black cell currently). Maybe Alicent will want to be even more conciliatory after she learns Luke died at the hands of Aemon. Making it look like Daemon targeted Helaena’s children would definitely fix that. Maybe Alicent decides for some reasons she wants to stop her “sessions” with Larys. Because of the unreliable narrators as sources for the history maybe Daemon never actually sent that “child for a child” message. I don’t know, the whole Blood and Cheese event just seems much more Larys than Daemon. And chaos is definitely a ladder Larys has been climbing.
