Great tutorial. Getting comfortable with my D1 Pro 20W and XCS. Ready to do tumblers and wine glasses for family members as gifts. A few tumblers for me as well! This video relieves the apprehension I had about ruining tumblers and glasses.
I’m so glad it helped! Framing your design is a great check to make sure your rotary setup and alignment are good before you start engraving. Best wishes on your projects!
Yes, the adjustable support module sits on the same surface as the rotary tool. In my example, they both sit on the honeycomb panel (inside the riser base). If you're using wooden risers instead, you'll have the rotary and support module sitting on the base plate. I hope this answers your question.
I’m so glad to hear that! It doesn’t automatically adjust, but if you measure for around the middle, it should be fine. Here are some written instructions in case it’s helpful too: www.firstdayofhome.com/how-to-laser-engrave-tumblers/.
I'm glad the video was helpful! The wooden risers sometimes come with the M1 bundle, but you can also buy them separately here (affiliate link): shrsl.com/4lrmb. I received mine as part of the M1 Deluxe package: shrsl.com/4lrmg. I hope this helps!
The measuring tape comes with the xTool Rotary tool, which you can find here (affiliate link): shrsl.com/4892f. The tape has color coding to determine the level for the wooden risers or honeycomb panel and the roller gear (A, B, or C).
The design I purchased was made for a 20 ounce tumbler, and then I just had to make sure it was sized to get as close to the silver rim (edge of the powder coating) as possible. I used framing to preview where the laser would engrave and made adjustments until I felt it was close enough to the edge of the powder coating. Framing is your friend to preview the laser path before you process the job. I hope this helps! Here’s an article with the steps as well: www.firstdayofhome.com/how-to-laser-engrave-tumblers/#settings-for-engraving-powdercoated-tumblers
Yes, you should be able to do a 40oz tumbler. My 40oz Stanley cup mouth is the same size as the aqua tumbler I engraved in this video (about 4"). For tumblers with handles, just make sure you can unscrew the handle. Good luck!
Yeah, I didn't include the photo or mention it in the voiceover, but I put a footnote in the video that mentions it. (The closed captions might cover it up.) Thanks for highlighting this also!
If you’re seeing lots of lines, maybe take your lines per cm up. I used 200 lpc and a speed of 150 mm/s for mine. I use a magic eraser to clean it after engraving.

Yay!! Glad it helped. 👏🏼
I really needed this! Have been putting off using my RA2 Pro for months. Thank you for the excellent tutorial. -Jane
Thanks, Jane! I hope you have fun making some cute tumblers. It’s so satisfying.
So many great tips Crissy! Thank you - the tumblers turned out amazing!
Thank you! I can’t wait to make some more designs.
2:09 I plan on doing a lot of different cylindrical projects
Have fun! There are so many possibilities. I hope to try round ornaments next.
i wipe all of my tumblers with Bar Keepers friend after engraving. works great for cleanup
Great tip! I love Bar Keeper's Friend. The magic eraser worked well for me, but I'm going to try BKF next time too.
Is the adjustable support lifting the nase of the rotary tool off the table?

This video helped me so much! Does the machine automatically adjust the image for the taper?

Where did you get your wooden risers? Thank you for the video! Very detailed and easy to follow!

I love your measuring tape...where id did you get it?

@@FirstDayofHomeoh ok…ya my new RA2 rotary accessory only came with a super cheap measuring tape. It’s not like yours. Thank you for replying ❤️
@Michelle88-hola Oh! Maybe they changed it. Well, I hope yours does the job still. Happy to help any time.
how can I make sure the wrap matches up perfectly???
