I never knew they flowered, how awesome. I totally get the invasive threat...I live in the south where kudzu smothers barns, houses, and forrests seemingly almost overnight. Hope you're having a great weekend, SuzyQ. 👍💕👍
Hi Susie, I like the floating “round” with black noodle. …. making some for water lilies. My koi dig at their roots. In Louisiana. I can’t buy water hyacinths, but I’m on the lookout for it. I got some from a pond south of New Orleans. But it didn’t last in regular. Non salty pond water. Up further north. At a nursery. Water lettuce was available sometime back. But I’m not sure anymore. I’m on the hunt for plants in new bog. I have a lot of yellow iris to dig. Just so hot right now !!!! I love your videos! My best to you 😊
Hi Suzy! This is a new pool. Started last November …. Continued again April …. In Louisiana, temps have been over 100s …. But water shaded with a gator and floating 6ft leaf. Temp is cool !!!! I made a “window” screen oval net for 2 waterlilies. But will have to expand with an oval to accommodate depth of 2 round lily pots. …. To be able to slide / adjust to growth of Lily spread. Oh the fun !!!! I played out by koi pool all afternoon, pumped out 12 inches of water. Bog has been running about 3 weeks, running clear ! But pool is not clear, even added UV (2000gallon). Pool is about 2500 gallons. Oh well. Happy ponding 😄😄😄
very true, I think itis because the roots are what is in the water and they get massive while the leaves are above the water line. At least that is my best guess

There is a pond under all that green hahahaha... great video and info on the water lettuce thank you for sharing.
hahah I wasn't sure anymore if there was a pond under there!!
Wow 😲 there are states where the plant 🌱 is not even allowed! Thanks for this lesson!
I know, right? I can see why some states (that dont get below 60 much) would not allow that plant
Florida and California ban on Water Lettuce, Water Hyacinth, $500 fine
I love these plants, I cant seem to get any recently. Nice work sis
thank you! These guys get so out of control but I love them
Summer has finally arrived and everything’s growing yeah!!!! 👍
oh and it feels so good!!
Have you tried RedRoot Floaters for your turtles? They can grow similarly but are softer
I will have to try these this year! Thanks fir the suggestion
i didnt think so ,it would freeze here. Wi
it is a beautilful but crazy plant
Shared out on fishtubers notifications
thank you so much!!
I got you.
You ROCK
How does a plant deplete oxygen ? Plants consume carbon dioxide and give off oxygen through photosynthesis, I thought ?

well done
Corona Ken thank you
unfortunately i didnt know it was illegal in my state, but i still have it, lol i have to clear the pond asap, do you know if chickens could eat it?
My tortoises and turtles love it, I’ll try it with my chickens tommoeow
I've tried to grow it a few times but I don't think I can give it enough light.
Daniel Keeping Fish the only way I can grow it is outside
You probably need a BAL
It does best in indirect sunlight
How fast for the water lettuce to double? Days or weeks?
About a week I had a little one forming
Lol they are listening...........
hhahaha they are!!
to bad ,i would like some.can,t find any here.
where are you? Is it legal?
comets ?
A few but mostly koi
These should only be grown in containers to control invasiveness
Fortunately, these are not invasive here as they die off during the winter months
I always thought the hyacinth was a faster grower than the lettuce, not in pensylvania I guess
They both grow so fast! Maybe I will put them side by side to see which one grows faster. My turtles and koi eat the hyacinth so that may be a factor
Yep, it's illegal in my state. I would love to have some but I just can't. 💕🐡💕
Bummer, but I can see why now
