  • Should clients bring their own products to the salon? Like special shampoos or their favorite hair color?
Should clients receive a discount for bringing their own products?

I’m a client, I use what my stylist recommends and uses; but I would be concerned cause some customers are crazy and could sabotage the product beforehand and then blame the stylist for their hair falling out. It’s a crazy world out here. Thanks to all you stylist, we wouldn’t be as ‘cute’ without you. 😊

I have a scalp condition that my stylist is familiar with. My doctor prescribed a shampoo at first I was afraid to tell her but she had another elderly client that has the same thing. I saw the shampoo in the salon and I asked if I could bring my in as well. She said of course I was so relieved, I would leave a bottle there because I was a weekly client I never expected a discount was just relieved she was willing to help me manage my condition and my hair grew so well and healthy with her.

I don't think they should if an individual wants their own hair products do it at home you don't want any emergency hair issues and ppl will start getting used to bringing in their own I wouldn't allow it unless the individual wants you to use certain hair shampoo and conditioner medical issues

I actually had that happen a client brought in her own relaxer then complained about her hair shedding I explained to her that since she brought in her own whatever happened to her hair was no fault of mine. I use particular products because I know what works and I purchase from a reputable company. I told her she didn’t know how long her relaxer had sat on the shelf she wasn’t using moisturizing products to maintain her hair all she used was curl wax😲😲🥴🥴

Honey, you are giving! Oooof 🔥 you look great!!! Alright, I'm a full service provider... so for me, if it's nails... some clients want to bring their own nail polishes base, color, and top coat. I don't give a discount for that because my real work and time is being put in before the colors. So no, there's no discount. If it's facials... then yes, I'll allow them to use their own skin care products because they know their skin sensitivities much better than I do. Unless the consultation lead me to be the professional in the situation to suggest another approach especially if I know for a fact that what they're using is causing more issues in their skin journey. I would give a discount on that service if using their products because I'll need products first to perform my job. If it's a hair client... I'm not giving a discount unless it is absolutely necessary. That would be case by case otherwise... no.

No discount and I probably would not use it unless it’s a product I trust

I think it depends on what is already being offered during their service. If I already have a line of products I’m using to accommodate all hair textures, what are you doing? Clients do that when they try to get a different price than your set price. Treat yourself not cheat me and yourself.

I give my clients a discount on their service if the bring in their own treatments and hair colors/ dye. I’m glade to add in their own oils and moisturizers as well as glue, holding or heat protection spray z were a team and were taking care of your hair together.

I wouldn’t unless there is a know medical condition or perhaps the customer is allergic to particular product. Otherwise, no you cannot bring ex: Suave to shampoo/conditioner your hair and expect your hair to clean and moisturized.

My clients cannot bring their own products unless it's prescribed by a doctor and there is no discount for that.

Bringing a “product” should never have an affect on the pricing the same services are still being performed. IMO

IMO Unless it is a product prescribed by their physician I would prefer not use it.

Personally, I do not allow clients to bring in anything that is not subscribed from a doctor. I would’ve been bring in fashion colors to be placed on their hair and it’s lightning. If I did allow them to bring any product in, it would not change the price of the service.

When I worked for corporate salons it was a liability. But if you have your own salon and thier hair doesn't look good No .

I'm a client with scalp condition. I have medicated / prescribed shampoo. Also I have a skin condition also and getting ready for a wedding. I have allowed the stylist to do my makeup with her products. Those products were too heavy on my skin since I have dermatitis. I ask first to bring a few that I have tried and liked. I would not mind if a stylist or makeup artist had me to sign a waiver form to use my own products to protect their business.

THE STYLIST SHOULD USE THEIR OWN PRODUCTS

Absolutely no. The Client does not have access to professional products.

The only products that clients bring that o use are maintenance products ej: maintenance kits that I usually recommend to them, however I don’t like to use chemicals that they bring from outside if I do accept to use a color it has to be a professional product, I make it clear there’s is not discount for bringing their products, because they pay for my service not necessarily the products

I would need to know prior to the appointment to research the product, it’s that’s not possible & they still want to use it, there will a waiver signed either way.
    2. The only discount would be if they bring their own bundles
    3. I would make them sign a waiver for both, the products & hair, that they choose to use.

It’s her hair! If that’s what they want to use you’re not using your own product you’re getting paid for the service!’

No discount, time is money. In that case they can go home and do their own hair.
