      It's super easy. There is a deeper clean that needs to be done now and then. I'll need to make a video on that as well.

    I would recommend taking the protective plastic off of the cover. Over time, the adhesive on this type of material can become solid, making it next to impossible to remove, and/or causing a frost effect, which would make it impossible to see inside.

      Just use a lightweight oil such as sewing machine oil, put some on your finger and wipe it on.

  • @qwerty3663
    @qwerty3663 2 роки тому +3

    Never use q-tips, paper towels, cleanex etc to clean optics. They most likely contain clay which will scratch the optics, only use optical wipes which do not contain clay particles.

    • @MonkeyWoodworks
      @MonkeyWoodworks 2 роки тому +4

      Good points. The xTool group specifically indicates to use a q-tip to get to the laser lens and optical lenses in the M1 however maybe its better to wrap a q-tip with that optical wipe instead to reach and clean the lens.

    • @MonkeyWoodworks

    Michael, I have enjoyed your videos. I have a question and thought you may have a thought or insight. My laser head is not moving from it's starting position. I have updated software, restarted. Thoughts?

    • @MonkeyWoodworks
      @MonkeyWoodworks Рік тому

      I have not heard of that before. Try this: Power off your M1. With it turned off, gently move the laser head cube thing to the right near the middle of the unit. Then gently pull it towards you to position it in middle of everything. (I prefer to grab the black horizontal bar holding the laser head aka the gantry). Once you do that, power it on and see if it goes back to the home position on it's own and try to send a job to it again in XCS. If not, I definitely suggest you join the FaceBook group named "xTool M1 Official Group" and post your question there. Plus, you can go to the top of the group and find links to get support from xTool.

    do the prisms help a lot when you want to cut something?

    • @MonkeyWoodworks
      @MonkeyWoodworks 2 роки тому +2

      They do. They allow a space between the board your cutting and the bottom of the M1. This allows for cleaner cuts and it helps reduce the burn marks you get underneath.
