    I love how Mikasa was compared and contrasted with Ymir. Ymir's love for Fritz wasn't rlly love. Love is not slavery, it's should be freedom. Like the freedom Eren gave Mikasa when they met.
    Mikasa proved she wasn't a slave to Eren by refusing to forget about him, yet killing him nonetheless. Something Ymir should've be able to do if her emotional attachment to Fritz wasn't just an abusive nightmare. Eren showed her true freedom of will, and Mikasa showed her the true freedom of love. Thus Ymir can make the decision, and does make the decision to stop listening to Fritz and abandon making titans forever.
    Absolutely beautiful story.

    This show-no. This STORY literally saved my life. I’ve been depressed for a long time, believe life is either pointless or that humans are all born to just work and having to enjoy our lives in happiness is too much to ask. But it’s the simple fact that this story was written so well, not only engaging but always left me with questions I needed answered, I needed to see how it would end. I had to stay alive to do that. While I wait months for the next season, and while the episodes aired online, I got to experience amazing moments in my personal life that I never imagined or would have if i had ended it all years ago. Because of this story, and the personal moments I cherish, I now have the desire to push forward, like Eren. But I must also be mindful of the present and enjoy life one way or another, like Armin. There’s more to it than that but I hope you get the idea.
    This story will always be my number one and for me it’s not over. I’ll continue to enjoy AOT in any way possible, long after the series ❤✌️

      I know these doubts well, and this story has a way of addressing them that understands people. Stories like this resonate with millions and it's clear AOT has impacted and saved many lives, like yours. Banger video, to me the tree on that hill lesson attack on titan teaches through the leaf-baseball metaphor is the true moral of Attack on Titan. Eren kept looking off into the distance and as a result kind of neglects his friends, staring at this big abstract dream of his, while Armin (and Mikasa ig) just treasured their experiences with eachother.
    Also great edit, did you edit it yourself?

    • @freezeYT-

      It really does feel like this moral has been around for the whole series. You can totally apply it to everything else in the show.

      One question. If you know there’s a entire world ought to kill you, and you know how cruel the world is to your race. Will you be comfortable with just looking at the ocean just like armin? Or would you be more like eren?

    • @freezeYT-
      @freezeYT-  9 місяців тому +5

      In the case of AOT it would’ve been difficult to prevent war; Eren tried to but he couldn’t because “it was determined.” There were a lot of external circumstances at work. If I had a choice though I’d try to adopt Armin’s ideology. It’s easy to think like Eren but the show is proof of where his way of thinking gets you. Armin says Eren’s plan sounds like a bad joke for a reason.

    Kinda heartwarming in a way that I ended up in this same conclusion with a friend of mine after we finished watching AoT.
    Since we mean nothing to the past and especially the future, and tying the meaning of life to that very past and future ultimately makes it feel meaningless, the best thing to do is to set our minds on the present and appreciate the smaller things; those little moments that give color to life, and meaning to live.

I can’t wait to rewatch AOT for the 5th or 6th time, even if it wasn’t the ending I wanted, I feel like it was the ending I needed, and that it was more than enough for me once I got Isayama’s message.

      For manga readers, waiting month to month to reach the end of the story was agonizing. So when it finally did end, a lot of people were feeling empty. Months went by where readers established what they think the ending should be. I didn't expect the ending to be what I wanted or theorized, but it was the best way to end it. The ending was realistic as it came with consequences of all the characters actions and the overall fact you can't change human nature.

    Beautiful understanding of the show. I'd add my interpretation of the tree. I think the tree represents Life and Death. It starts with the tree and it ends with it.
    And based on that, let's look at Armin's story of how his life was all about being happy while running after Eren and Mikasa towards the tree.
    He said Eren reached the tree first, which is just like he died first. Then Mikasa, we can assume she died second and then Armin died last.
    Therefore, the tree in Armin's story means life is just about enjoying what you do during your path that inevitably leads to death. Armin was happy running with his friends towards their certain death.
    Death will happen, yet it's all right.
    We can even go even beyond and say this goes with Armin's pacifism, which is all about being ready to accept death instead of causing more harm.
    Eren couldn't accept to let his friends die for the sake of pacifism.
    Armin could have.

    The main part that confuses me is after all this time, Zeke finally learns to appreciate life. Therefore he immediately leaves the paths and basically kills himself? Do I have part of this wrong or does this just not make any sense?

    • @freezeYT-
      @freezeYT-  6 місяців тому +3

      I think it makes perfect sense. Levi and Zeke both knew that Zeke's death would instantly put a stop to the rumbling. They were enemies for the entire series, and part of that was because of differing ideologies. Zeke was not giving due respect to the value of human life. In his time in the paths, he found peace with the meaning of the life he'd lived, and for once, he and Levi were on the same team. He called out to Levi to be killed and Levi understood immediately. Zeke says himself that he wishes he realized this earlier, because now it's too late--he has to give up his life to do what he knows is right. Eren is much the same, if only they'd developed an outlook similar to Armin's sooner. But just because Zeke can now appreciate life doesn't mean he gets to live. There were countless people killed who all wanted to live, too. It's his obligation now to finish what he started and die at the hands of Levi.

      @@remedy64 It's unexplained why when Zeke died, the rumbling stopped. But Eren still managed to transformed again and use the paths to have the cabin scene with Mikasa. So Eren either didn't have the founding titan powers and managed to do that, or he did still have them, but the rumbling stopping was a mistake.
      Eren was also seperatef from the source of life, but we have no idea what that actually did, since it apparently wasn't the source of Eren's and Ymir's control of the founder powers. (We also never saw what happened to it in the end)
      Eren had the power to control any titans throughout all of the titan era, but only used it to save Bertholdt and kill his mother. This is a power that was only shown to be possible in the last episode and makes it hard to beleive that with such power he couldn't have created a world where all his friends would live. I don't have a problem with him killing his mother, I just think it opens up a huge can of worms where he had control of literally everything and didn't use it.

    • @AnjnShan
      @AnjnShan 9 місяців тому +1

      @@zachariemelanson485 "It's unexplained why when Zeke died, the rumbling stopped."
      It's explained VERY heavily, wym?
      - Everyone ascertained that because of Zeke being a royal, Eren needed Zeke, but this only applied in regard to Ymir.
      - Ymir was a slave that served and upheld the last vow of her primary master, Fritz, moreover, she was unwilling to part with the royal family, which is why the 'condition' exists. Eren liberated this line of thinking, thus, Ymir devoted her power to serving Eren's will; Eren's will was what Ymir used her power toward. He gave her a choice and she CHOSE, not by force, not by command, to help him.
      - Zeke's death stopped the rumbling because it was originally Zeke that fueled the original command and it was Zeke's energy being used to command the titans, most likely. Metaphorically shackled to the paths, serving Eren's cause. Literally shackled to the paths, forced to give his everything.
      - The worm was not implied, it was literally SHOWN to be the original source of the titans. With re-integration with Eren being the smoking gun for the absolution of genocide, EVERYBODY was aware that if Eren and the creature made contact, Eren would most likely turn into a second Ymir, ending the world. Reiner prevented this for good reason; it would make Eren the new 'True' founder, likely resurrecting Eren from the dead.
      There's the possibility that Eren's desire to live and be with Mikasa would do more than perpetuate the end and resurrect Eren. It would probably turn Eren into something even stronger and more invincible than he was, before. What did the worm do? It started the problem.

    • @DundG
      @DundG 9 місяців тому +5

      @@zachariemelanson485 Plothole means it breaks with the continuity of the story. Don't know if this applies here.
      If we go with that Eren lost the complete controll over the paths due to Zeke dying, he still has the Titan shifter powers. And who builds the Titans? Ymir! So she could've upgraded his Titan form in the meantime he proceeded with the rumbling. Eren could easily account for the need to turn colossal to force Mikasa to kill him, since he knew the future.
      Mikasas Visions are not from Eren I think, but Ymir challenging Mikasas love, if she would forgett about him. Which she refused. And Ymir is still connected to everyone since she IS the source of the royal bloodline.
      About the source of live, I don't know. But maybe there is a possible explanation.
      And about him having all this power. Eren states that his head is messed up by experiencing past and future at the same time. It is not like Zeke traveling through time, but literally experiencing everything at the same time. Eren struggles to handle the sudden omnipresence, so he sticks with the plan he had before gaining it: Make my friends heroes so they can have long lives. The paths only connect you to every Eldian through time and space. Getting tje founder doesn't upgrade your mind to handle this information overload.
      Those are just theories, nothing confirmed. But they still prove that those aren't plottholes as they can be explained, and I think believably.

    • @zachariemelanson485
      @zachariemelanson485 9 місяців тому

      @@DundG You didn't address the main issue I pointed out. There are 2 possibilities, either Eren still had the founding titan powers, or he didn't after Zeke died. The rumbling stopped instantly when Zeke died, hinting that Eren probably lost the powers. But if he didn't lose the power as you stated, why did Eren chose to stop the rumbling?
      There's also the fact that Eren freed Ymir in order to be able to use her powers. Ymir chose to give Eren the powers despite him not having royal blood. We saw he wasn't able to command Ymir before he freed her. He only needed royal blood in order to meet Ymir in the paths and free her, but after that royal blood was not beeded for anything because Ymir could just choose to do whatever she wanted. Killing Zeke should not have any impact on Eren's abilities.
