Let this be a lesson : not everyone who is addicted to drugs is a bad person.
But it does lead to selling illegal stuff and wronging your friends and family and going down a rabbit hole nobody wants to go down but that doesn’t make you a “bad person “ a person who is addicted had their mind artificially changed. I blame the pharmaceutical companies and the government and doctors.

I’m not going to lie if I were in that situation I wouldn’t have helped. I found out it’s best to not get involved especially since that’s where she had to live at and sleep in. I’m sure she became a target after that.

What a remarkable young woman. Just because someone may be struggling with drugs doesn’t mean they are a bad person. This young lady is a hero in my eyes and many many others. I hope she goes through her program and is a success story. I myself have had struggles in life and since then I’ve been a business owner and I’m now a productive member of society. ❤️🙏🏼

Being an inmate does not automatically make you a bad person, Everyone is redeemable. I was a corrections officer and in the sheriffs office -- Respect and Integrity of humans goes a long way. I am glad she was there to help the officer, and that she recognized and will have a chance to repair her life. GOD Bless her.

Not everyone is a Redeemable, I was a corrections officer at a state prison/Reception and Dianogostic center for more than a decade and saw the same people come in and out, the news and liberals want to tell everyone that the reciditive rate is very very low but the truth is it's very very high, 98% within the first 2 years of being released from jail/prison they are right back in jail/prison. This woman is 1 in 5 million, literally.
@@webeducation For 2 reasons, first the Government, whether city/county/state or federal, doesn't know how to treat their employees and 2nd the burn out rate is SKY HIGH in corrections, not just with officers but non custody employees as well because it's an ultra stressful environment. I worked at a State Prison for 12 years, and when I started I was 462nd on the Seniority list for officers and 603rd for all employees. When I retired 12 years later I was 2nd on the officers list and 4th among all employees. When I retired the 3 people who had more seniority than I did was Major (Chief of Custody), The Warden and the Assistant Warden.
As a recovering addict I want her to win. She’s the type of woman who deserves sobriety and all the beauty the world has to offer. She obviously is a good person at the core

Totally agree. I just passed 7 years and the main thing I learned is that you have to want it. Period. I hope you're doing well and definitely hope this woman stays clean/sober. She could get a career in some kind of life-saving field since she definitely appears to have the kind of heart one needs to do that!

Exactly, she is one that the system could/would have likely broke had she done her full term…all for a drug charge because of an addiction, which just proves not all addicts are bad people and have morals when clear minded!…I’m glad she’s getting a second chance while still having her morals and head on her shoulders, and especially after doing what she did twice, she would not have been safe anymore! 💯👌
What do you mean by "down deep"😅😅 For all we know, she's good, period, not "down deep", she just happens to be addicted to drugs which is unfortunate, so she can't control that but that's all. She has bigger flaws, that doesn't necessarily make her bad.
Bless this girls heart. I'm so glad the authorities gave her this opportunity, and rewarded her with her outstanding bravery. Not only once did she show her integrity, but twice. I feel people like her, who have a non-violent crime, deserve to be rewarded with early plea deals.
Addicts without violence charges should be given treatment and support instead of prison or jail.
@@aidankhaos7687 Non violent crimes, and if they don't have crimes against other people, definitely should be given treatment for their addiction, as opposed to prison time. If the Judges can get them into a program that helps them beat their addiction, it would be so beneficial. They can completely turn their lives around. A program can get to the root of 'why' they feel they need to cover up their pain, that drugs mask.

Any crime that requires listing the government as the victim when there is no damage or or theft of property shouldn't be a crime, and certainly shouldn't be a crime that results in jail

Prison can make or break you. She was made in prison, and in the most positive sense. Two guards were in danger by other inmates, and she intervened on behalf of the guards, in what we in Germany would call an "act of civil courage". I wish her all the best on her treatment and in future life.
As a 15+ year former cop, my experience was that the majority of felons I came across had a drug or alcohol addiction. I would always dive deeper into why they were addicted and typically it was to mask the pain they suffered from due to abuse or mental illness. We need better mental health care, from a younger age, NOT prisons/jails/cops. The focus truly needs to be better birth controls, parenting skills, job training, and therapy. This girl is clearly someone that wants to help others, even before she wants to help herself. Kudos to her for helping the Detention Deputy 👏

As for me, I did bad things, pled guilty, did my time and when I got out I changed environments. I had no parole to hold me so I left the state and started my life over. Learned a trade, worked that trade for years and now I'm almost at retirement age. My observation is that most of the time you are correct. I was in a medium security work camp. I saw people get transferred in and transferred out. Some when back up to max and some went down to minimum. Most stayed at medium until release date. 98% of the guys I was with in that work camp dorm were fairly normal acting in most ways. Probably 75% were involved with drugs or alcohol. In the classification center they weeded out people with mental illness but all they did was warehouse them in maximum security sometimes in padded cells and from what I heard from the C.O.'s few got any real treatment though occasionally they were drugged. Many were released on their latest possible day then that ended their meds because mostly they just doped them up to control them. We called them the zombie squad because they had a blank look on their face most of the time. So they would get out and almost immediately would violate their probation and get sent back. The drug addicts were similar. More than half of the inmates I encountered were in for possession of a controlled substance. Most of the time that was pot. Not trafficking quantities mind you. This was in the 1980's and our state had a zero tolerance policy. People were getting life sentences for the third time they were caught with a joint. Today there is a push to legalize pot in our state for recreational use. I'm not sure if that other end of the spectrum is a good idea or not but destroying lives for having a single joint three different times was too extreme as well. I think that law has been adjusted though or at least the sentencing guidelines have been. As a trustee in the jail waiting trial for six months I can tell you I saw every kind of inmate there was. My job at first was feeding other inmates then later the library and finally law library where I became a de facto psychological counselor with no training. The C.O.'s kept sending suicidal inmates to the law library to talk to me. Maybe I'm easy to talk to. But boy did I see a lot and realized my life was no where near as bad as I thought. That experience did more for rehabilitation than anything else. I think programs where inmates help other inmates is a good idea. You begin to think differently when you feel like you actually can do good things. A lot of inmates get into their head that they are bad because that is what they are told all their life so they don't even bother to try to be good. That is a huge problem. One 15 year old murder suspect told me he was planning to just walk up to the biggest guy in prison when he got there and shove a shank in his heart. He said he saw in a movie that was the only way to earn respect in prison. I told him that is the quickest way for a 5 foot tall 90 LB kid like him to end up in a grave. I told him to just be quiet and polite to everyone, respect everyone and never miss an opportunity to do chores. That last one will keep a lot of people out of trouble. Half the fights in jail were from one inmate claiming it was not their turn to clean the toilets in the cell block and then a fight would break out. If you just take it on yourself suddenly everyone will leave you alone. You might end up doing a lot of chores but you'll never get beat up for doing chores. since a lot of inmate's route cause of being there is pure laziness in one form or other, everyone will be grateful they can sleep in and not worry about cleaning anything. And such inmates tend to want that to remain and don't want anything to happen to someone who likes to do chores. That's part of why I applied for trustee status. Unfortunately he was found guilty and sentenced to death. Fortunately later the supreme court forced the state to commute death sentences for people who were convicted while young teens. Florida is a weird state anyways. I'm sure you've heard of the famous Florida Man.

I was in and out of jail since I was 14 till about 28. I'm 32 now but the point is, not everyone in jail is a bad person. Most decent inmates would do anything for the officers that treat them well. This is a great example. Respect really runs a mile.

Anyone who steps-up to help someone is life threatening danger - when it’s not their job or occupation (cop, firefighter etc) - deserves respect

Most of my friends who became drug addicts when I was in my 20s were the kindest and most loving people I have ever known. Until I met them, I became to see a lot of people become drug addicts because they feel and think a lot of things.
You know they're one moment in your life that can change everything. What just hope all the positive attention she is receiving now is that moment for her. I would really like to see how she does later in life if this was her moment.

@@MarioMartinez-tt9ly With enough force in the right spot, it can do some serious damage. Even if it doesn't kill (like stabbing someone in the hand or face) that injury can be impairing enough to leave the victim open for a more decisive blow.
Something that people forget; in a fight, any injury can be life threatening, even if indirectly. This is particularly true if weapons are involved.

@@MarioMartinez-tt9ly Don't be so sure. With enough force behind it, it could easily penetrate skin. It doesn't have to be razor-sharp to be dangerous or deadly. And all it would have to do is nick an artery, and someone could very easily and quickly end up dead. Also, remember, this heroine of an inmate suffered an injury to her hand in the act of saving the deputy, and it's likely that particular wound was caused by the makeshift shank.
But this just goes to show that just because an inmate has committed a crime, it doesn't mean they are a bad person, or that they are beyond redemption. Larry Lawton, a former jewel thief, turned his life around after serving his time in federal prison, and now he tries to use his past experience to inform others of how to protect their valuables, and he strongly urges people to not follow his past example and turn to crime. He even has a UA-cam channel where he uploads videos of various topics.

The only crime half of our inmates here have committed is drug possession. We have more people in prison than any other country because we have the most aggressive criminal justice system in the world. Not even the Chinese and North Korea combined can beat us in prison population numbers. Of course Chine does keep down their inmate population through frequent executions with short appeals processes.

Drugs are against the law...as in criminal. They destroy many many lives, children are abused, thefts, car accidents and other related violent crime. There is no such thing as a non-violent drug offense. Not to mention the carnage in Mexico and Afganistan to make, smuggle and transport the drugs. Just like saying possession of child porn is not harmful to a child if they did not make the porn themselves. It is an industry of death and destruction.

Goes to show that just because you use drugs or are an addict, that it doesn't make you a bad person, and in some cases it's the opposite. Sooo many addicts are good people who are using drugs to escape trauma in their lives that was caused by bad people. My mom was an alcoholic who tried to quit drinking MANY times, but she never could because of the nightmares she would have when she was sober, and my dad died of a heroin overdose 13 years ago, and both of my parents were broken, but had/have hearts of gold♡ It took my mom having a major stroke that put her in a nursing home in order for her to quit drinking, it's very sad, however she is seen by our small family almost every day since her stroke 10 years ago♡

Thank you to this I/M who saved this officer's life. I've been a corrections officer for 12 years. You have good one's (I/m's) and bad one's. Thank god I've had mostly good one's. I've a few bad one's but that's part of it. I always told my I/m's you treat me how you would like to be treated and everything will be fine. You never turned your back on and I/m good it bad for any reason. If your in a situation you have to ALLWAYS have back up. I never had a serious incident
honestly, I've met a lot of people in my life who are really messed up & do illegal things in some ways, but have hearts of gold in other more important ways. and I always show them kindness & respect for that.

The clique is there for a reason... never submit to gangsterism, and the police and all there different sectors are the biggest gangsters on the planet. These cops are locking people away like factory farm animals. Anyone who supports incarceration is a criminal, therefore all cops are criminals and therefore they should be taken care of... ie killed and not incarcerated. Incarceration is the cruelest form of discipline and barely works... these cops are monsters and they all deserve a shiving. Having worked and retiring from corrections, I have always known that not all inmates are bad and many are good people who made mistakes when it comes to drugs. I hope she gets the treatment she needs and has a successful crime free life….she deserves it.

What matters to me is that she saved that deputy’s life. I don’t care what her past was. She showed her true colors being there for another human being. God bless her. I wish her the best.

Too many people have never been given a fair chance and able to get good jobs due to a messed up judicial system that slaps them with a felony and not bring their cases up for review to give them an opportunity to prove themselves. It happened to my sons and I was a single parent. My only weapon against them was years of prayer and my attorney was Jesus Christ. Thank God my sons are well
@@jariech87 Yeah that really helps people straighten out and become productive members of the same society which incarcerated them. People need to stop judging others for silly mistakes, that's between you and God.

That's false. You can be cured from being a drug addict. I've been involved in research that prove what I'm saying. The truth is society does not want ppl to think they can beat it because it's a cash cow. I spent more than half my life on drugs started at 10 43 now, and I've been completely clean for 5 years with zero desire to want to return to drug use. That means I'm cured. I've gotten so sick of hearing the excuses people make just to continue being an addict. It's a false perception that has proven to have grave consequences. And no amount of well what about this, or what about that, will change my mind. If society knew that addiction could be cured we wouldn't be saying it can't. It's a mental game that's being played so the prisons can stay full and addicts can have an excuse to fall off the wagon. I've argued with ppl in group over and over and in the end they can't deny what I'm saying is true.

One year of rehab is by far better than a year in jail…for everyone. Drug offenders do not belong in jail or prison. I’m shocked that Floriduh has such a long term rehab.
@@phallondavenport470 You are right Phallon. Not a cure, but learning control, and redirecting negativity and turning it to a positive is possible with the right tools, resources and will power! It's been done before and will continue to happen! Good for you benefitting from your experience and teaching in AA!
@@phallondavenport470 maybe for some but I'm fully cured. I learned my lessons in life. I don't care what AA or what NA say about addiction. Not everyone lives their entire life as an addict. When I went through treatment I refused Aa Na and their 12 step program because the first step is to admit that you are powerless to your addiction. I was not powerless and I have made it without relapse for 9 years.
She is a good Samaritan... She has a good heart.... She chose the only and right thing to do.... ❤💯👍

She should have never been locked up for drugs in the first place. She's lucky the guard is a moron and gave her a chance to look good to her captors.

@@b1llygo4t They "decriminalized" hard drugs meth, heroin, fentynal, LSD, PCP in Oregon. Dopers dropping like fly's. Drug dealers getting rich and crime is skyrocketing. No one is taking the so called "Treatment Option" They take the $100 fine and never pay it anyway. You get a bigger fine for having your dog off leash, $500. Thanks to bleeding heart liberal like you that voted YES on Measure 110. Now they all crying because violent crime is way up and everything that is not locked down gets stolen.

This inmate does show empathy and love for her fellow man\woman. This makes me hopeful for this incredulous world. It makes my heart just a little bit happier.

What a brave woman. Hope she completes her treatment and continues to stay clean and out of trouble. I was fortunate enough to get a second chance and went to counseling for my addictions. So grateful I've never been in jail. I'm coming up on 35 years of continuous sobriety in a few days! 😊
She's earned her early freedom for helping: and twice. She saw someone needing help and made a quick decision to do something about it. Get her out of there before other inmates decides to revenge for their friends.
You get heroes everywhere - just shows you she was a good person from the beginning, she just had a bad start in life.

I pray she flow thru my daughter went thru this program and became head of that program took her GED passed it with high score got out on good Behavior and now going to collage for degree in that field also got great job over 23.00 an hour loves her new life. So happy for her.
