- An empty Disney and Royal Caribbean cruise ship wander off the coast of Cocoa Beach, Florida two days after cruises were halted due to concerns over the spread of the Corona Virus. Port Canaveral, the worlds 2nd busiest cruise port is packed with empty cruise ships filling up all the available terminals.
According to marine traffic tracking websites, the Disney Cruise ship is the Disney Fantasy.
Filmed March 16th, 2020 in 4k UHD.
Shipping lines do this because if the ships are docked it can cost them tons of money. So they just park them in anchorages for free with minimal crew on board. There is a big one not to far from where I live, and at the height of the recession, that place was packed with freighters. Let's just say its a good thing its not Hurricane season.
That’s crazy seeing cruise ships & other ships held hostage bye the virus thing but it’s necessary.
Just pulled up the westgate cocoa beach pier live cam, 6 boats out there at the moment, large and small looking at the lights. Something is going on, staging?
They are anchoring the cruise ships off shore to save money while service is suspended (and dump their sewage tanks, unfortunately). It costs them a lot to keep them docked and they can only stay docked for so long before their sewage tanks are full.

Thanks for the update
I'm glad they are empty. So this is happening because there are not enough empty ports to dock at? They look lovely out there though.
When I drove by the port yesterday there were at least 6 cruise ships jammed in there. I think that is about all they can fit without blocking the cargo terminals.
Scary Fear, unfortunately they are not empty there are still staff on board. Many not able to return home and only have poor contact with their family members due to the cost.
Nice view
